When I click to open system restore it doesn't open at all. I tried turning it off then on again from My Computer properties but nothing.

EDIT: I got this to show up:

and it said to:

Go to Start -> Run and type or paste each of the following commands, one at a time while pressing enter after each one.

regsvr32 jscript

regsvr32 vbscript

regsvr32 /i mshtml

this now lets it open and a blank page appears:

that usually a scripting error. There's a microsoft article that tells you to change a registry key. Otherwise reinstall scripting by downloading scrun.exe i believe is the file name. You can get it off microsoft's website.

System Restore not working is NOT a new problem.

I've had a fix for that somewhere, but right now, I can't find it.

So I googled the problem, "Fix System Restore". That should always be your first step to fixing any problem in windows. Anyway, there are over 3 million responses to that query.

Try it.....I'm sure you'll find the answer you need.

Have you tried running "SFC /scannow" ???

That will repair any system files that have gotten messed up or deleted.

Give this a shot.

rundll32.exe setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 C:\WINDOWS\inf\sr.inf

You might be prompted for your Windows installation media.
