What is the code you are getting? You may also find it in the Event Viewer if you did not write it down.

Sorry, not going to approve any sort of discussion on how to bypass the "swear" filter.

what is the connection of licensing issues and video functionality? if it be possible to use this to create a thin client for use in a corporate environment it will be illegal and need to be removed. looks more that you search for a way to block the content because of licensing issues sorry if we understand your question wrong? maybe you should ask in a different way. No I am looking for a better way to use our current system. It is legal to use WinPE in corporate environment the way we do now. I asked because some people who make software have restrictions, like HFSLIP for example can't be used by a company. I was just asking if the same rules are for Make_PE3 as well. I am asking you because these rules are typically determined by the software author.

How to get started with Windows 7 Embedded?
Tripredacus replied to hvakrg's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
The website is misleading. It is not a separate tool but a feature. To start making a custom shell, open ICE and then open the help file. Go to the Index tab and look at the article for Command Prompt Shell with Custom Shell Support. PS: moving to 7 Unattend -

I am only interested in it because it can add video and DirectX function. I currently use WinPE to run BurnInTest but the video tests do not work. I have been unsuccessful getting DirectX and even 2D acceleration to work. I am also looking at WEE7 but that looks to be a little more complicated.

Unattended setup error during audituser pass
Tripredacus replied to amit_talkin's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
I think your problem lies with trying to run Sysprep when Sysprep is already running. If you try this in any other mode you will get an error too. If you want the system to boot into Audit, just use the Reseal object in oobeSystem. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709627%28WS.10%29.aspx -
CD Drive Recognized But Not Functioning
Tripredacus replied to Ambassador's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
You'll need to test whether or not it is actually the drive that is not working or if you maybe need updated drivers. As you might know, the CD Drive doesn't have drives but the ATAPI controller does. If you want, you could just go and get the newest chipset driver for your system and see what that does. But a good test would be try to boot off the CD Drive. -
I am suddenly reminded of the Ghost of Christmas Past...

wimb, What are the limitations or license terms for the use of this software? For example, would it be possible to use this to create a thin client for use in a corporate environment?

Setup did not find any HD installed in your computer

It definately sounds like the netbook has its controller type set to AHCI. -
How to get started with Windows 7 Embedded?
Tripredacus replied to hvakrg's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
Ah ok, I have that one installed too because the buying the regular toolkit costs something like $900 so I can play with the trial for 180 days. So far, WE7 is a lot different than XPe but in a good way. At first it seems a lot more complicated, but I like the idea you can just boot the media on the target appliance and create the image on the fly without pre-creating the answer file. That being said, if you have any experience with any other componentized building app (like WSIM) its a bit easier. Once you figure it out then it should be good. It is also good it has some templates built in. I only used it for 1 day so far, but the smallest you can make it is ~500MB and I wanted to make one that just enabled 3D acceleration and the smallest it could be is 1GB. I was trying to see if it could be a good thin client OS but I haven't put enough time into it to determine if WE7 is the way to go, or using a WinPE based thin client. -
Probably not, I think it might be a forum default. It just makes you have to be more creative. Here is an example: I was talking to this id*** and he didn't even know how to restart his computer! Here is a more creative way of saying the same thing: I was talking to this guy who blew his brain gasket and he didn't even know how to restart his computer!

I really need to find people that are taller than me...

Not sure about the real answer, but the whole "same driver" thing is for support purposes only. For example, I got a system to work with 4 different sound cards using 4 different drivers but it was not supported by Creative. So when I had a problem getting that to work in Vista, Creative couldn't help me, but I eventually figured it out.

HP Notebook: The recovery partition could not be found
Tripredacus replied to ahmad2080's topic in Software Hangout
You are going to need to get your hard drive string back in there. The OP was able to do this by copying the MBR of someone else's notebook hard drive and apply it to his. You'll have to read through this thread and try to find the answers, but you can ask questions if you are having problems with a particular program or concept. I understand how the recovery system works, but I can't give you any specific details or tools to make this work again. My hands are tied in that respect. -
Well this is definately an OS problem. You are going to want to get a memory dump like Cluberti said, instructions here: At first glance, your STOP Error 0x24 would indicate a file system problem. Try mounting your WIM into a different volume. Also, are you running all NTFS disks?

doing win7 tweaks on xp?without installing AIK?
Tripredacus replied to samcsli's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
I believe both of those programs are just a GUI for the underlying WAIK applications such as Imagex and DISM. There is really no harm in installing WAIK, I just wish that they made single language versions available as it would cut down on the download size. -
You can also change the Specialize pass as well. If you do a test run, you can look up the GC Unattend folder, in there is a log which tells you where the sysprep file is. It is NOT always where you copied it (sysprep may move it), but I typically just keep it in the sysprep folder.

How to get started with Windows 7 Embedded?
Tripredacus replied to hvakrg's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
You aren't going to find a whole lot of info about WES7 online because most of it is behind passwords. If you downloaded this from your Partner account, you should contact your rep to see if they can find some documentation or other sites to get help from. There may also be a section on MSDN Social, but I'm not sure since I don't use that site. Microsoft does have an Embedded specific site, however if you are asking about it here you probably won't be able to access it. Also, MS doesn't typically handle Embedded support directly, they farm that out to licensed Embedded Partners. -
Patches for Win7 usually doesn't matter what edition you are using with exception to specific updates regarding MCE or Bitlocker or anything else that is in Ultimate. Try using the Microsoft Update Catalog: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/ You need to use IE to use that site. It also will install an ActiveX control.

How to specify ComputerName?
Tripredacus replied to Tripredacus's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
This one doesn't even show up. Well to be specific, it appears if I just open the stock WSIM, but disappears once I load the webserver clg from the install DVD. I figured those other items couldn't be done via Unattend. I'm not sure how much responsibility I will have in getting the rest of those done, as I am not working directly with the software, only creating the unattend and the recovery partition. If I end up having to do that work on that part, I will take this info into consideration. Thanks -
