I found the problem. The DCOM SERVER PROCCESS LAUNCHER wasn't set to automatic. Once I enabled it everything ran fine even some weird RPC SERVER error I kept getting
0 -
I belive I have SFP disabled:
C:\Documents and Settings\Tom>sfc /scannow
Windows File Protection could not initiate a scan of protected system files.
The specific error code is 0x000006ba [The RPC server is unavailable.
].Since it is disabled why did it gave me access denied errors?

A week ago I repaced this "msvcrt.dll" located in "\SYSTEMROOT\SYSTEM32\" with the one from SP1 istallation cos I thought it might fix a problem I was getting w/ mIRANDA! Well it didn't, so I then I wanted to put the the original one back, but I can't cos I keep getting ACCES IS DENIED. So how do I do that?
EDIT:
I found a way.I renamed the "msvcrt.dll" and the put the original one back and Windows didn't give me any ACCES DENIED problems.
Question: How come when I wanted to delete the file I got ACCESS DENIED, but when I only renemed it it was OK??
Question2: What is this DLL even used for?

I'm the ADMINISTRATOR. SO to answer your question.. YES!! And I've seen the same problem on another machine running WinXP SP2. So It's not just my machine! Any clues on how to fix this?

Whenever I click on the dependicies tab in "services.msc" I always get:
And it doesn't matter which "service" I click on.

I believe he means that after all this time of waiting for SP2 they still couldn't find 5minutes of time to choose an ICON!!!

There is an issue that needs to be resolved using this line:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\open]
@="Open w/Notepad"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\open\command]
@="notepad.exe %1"Hidden files still won't load?? Is there any fix around this?
Are there others experiencing the same problem?

THe OS was freshly installed. The disk has always been FAT32. Perhaps if I were to boot in dos and use Norton Commander(the best file editor in the good old days, IMHO) I would be able to delete those pesky files.
But there's a problem, cos I can't afford to restart the SERVER for atleast another 3days.

Indeed, it only works with NTFS.
By the way, there is no reason whatsoever to use FAT32 on Win NT/2000/XP. Enough said. ;-)
When I first repartioned the disk I was wondering should I use FAT32 or NTFS(which is superior) but then I got with FA32 cos of its backward compatibilty and the HDD is only 40GB. On my other machine which has 120GB HDD I use NTFS!!! And I love it, no more SCANDISK!!!!

The second method doesn't work. I believe it's only ment for NTFS partitition and not FAT32!!! Anyway here's the output:

Is NOD32 a trial or a full version?

The problem is with the second character used in the name of the file (just after the 3) it's a Latin Small Letter I with a grave
do you use a windows MUI + your specific language ?
If yes, try to toogle in your language :
Start | Settings | control Panel | Regional Options
and select your Input Local.
Click OK.
Open a Command Prompt . Go in each directory where resides the file and type
del 3ìFLOP~1.LNK (i don't know how to reproduce the ì with your keyboard in your language, the ascii code is 00EC, found in charmap.exe)
It should works. I have already have the same problems with special French characters with graves (ie éèàù).
Good luck.
P.S. No matter if NOD32 is trial or Registered version.
What is Windows MUI?
I'm using Win2k SP4 PRO ENG on a FAT32 partition with Central European support for Slovenian characters: čšž
But this characters don't pose any problem. So I doubt that it is language related.
When trying to delete from a dos prompt, this is what I get:

please go in the safe mode by prressing f8 key before the boot of windows and delete the file
c:\pagefile.sys > help for swaping data between hardisk and memory generally we call it virtual memory.
c:\hiberfile.sys stands for hibernation (sleepmode) if you have selected hibernation from the power options in control panel
hibernation takes hadrdisk space about same size of memory
i.e if memeory is 512kb then 512mb of space will be allocated in harddisk for hibernation . other thing is that one CMOS battery should also support it.
Tanx, but I don't want do delete PAGEFILE.SYS or HIBERFILE.SYS..

Replacing a DLL

I understand perfectly to that part, but then why did the OS allowed me to rename the file to anything I wanted? And I wasn't even in safe mode
