  1. The thing is:

When U mount a drive in Win2k and when U restart Win2k and the machine that has the MAPPED DRIVE connected to is offline, the annoying YES or NO question comes up right after bootup.

What must I do that that it would just ignore it and just assume that all MAPPED DRIVES are connected??

  2. I was wondering. Since I am running a Win2k PRO as a server which has 4NICs installed that act as a software router thru the help of KERIO WINROUTE PRO 4.25. This computer is also used for 24/7 EMULE and TORRENT and on occasion some VIDEO COMPILING STUFF (eg. DVD LAB PRO)

Now I would like to know which tweaks should I apply to the system if any?

  5. When IE7 comes out I will definalty test it ans use it.

But which one are you looking more forward to?

    IE7 or FF 2.0?

I block the ads with my hosts, and I don't have Java installed.

FF 2.0 without a doubt. The only reason I still have IE is cos the blodddy M$ UPDATE doesnt work as good with other browsers.

IE7 : I ain't even looking forward to it, cos I believe that it will be crap. But ofcourse will give it a try and see how it operates.

  6. Hi all. I've asked this question on other forums but didn't get much help out. SO I'm trying my luck here:

Have a Win2000 PRO PC who has 3 NIC. One NIC is connected to ADSL and the other two NICs are connected to 2computers(WinXP and Win2k PRO) using cross-linked cable!

My question is how must I set it up so there will be ICS and file sharing between the 3computers!!

ps.On Win2k machine which should act as router I've already done this: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_...s/w2kprout.html

But afterwards I have no idea what to do?? So any help would be a very apprecieted!!

  7. As far as i know SP4 will be the last SP

They still will have Hotfixes, however they will be pushing Win2k3 so 2000 is gonna be slowly disloving in the next few years.

Crap! Is there any way to get all of POST SP4 fixes to a CD so I could install them on my friends computer? He can't install them himself thru Windows Update cos he's still on DIAL UP:((

  8. automatic will start it when ever needed

manual will start only with user intervention and when stopped shouldnt start with out the user

    and disabled means just that

WRONG! AUTOMATIC will start it at BOOT UP!No matter if it's needed or not! Manual should start it when a service or a program call to a specific service! And disabled shouldn't start the service no matter what!!!

If U don't belive I can tell what U can do to test this MANUAL thing out

  9. Even thou I've set in PREFERENCES that EMAIL NOTIFICATION is DEFAULT ON! I never receive notification when I receive replys to a thread I started. Could some1 look into that?

ps. I've checked the MAIL SETTINGS and I have the correct mail here set!!

    PM me your mail addr.

I PMed U my mail, did U find a fix?

  10. With Windows Installer service I had no probs when it was on MANUAL it started automaticly. But with SP2 I had have this prob. BUt since I enabled the DCOM SERVER PROCCESS LAUNCHER I don't know wheter the Windows INstaller service will get enabled automaticly now. Will try it when I get home

  12. I don't know just what it 's supposed to do, all I know is that it is one of the few services which will cause agravation if you disable it. I lost just about  every function, including Internet access when I accidentaly disabled this service - It took me half a night (and the loss of a lot of hair) to discover what I had done wrong. Boy...did I feel sick!

Then I quess I was lucky. I had that service on manual(but it never started) for more than 2weeks. Without big probs. Just some RPC SERVER errors here and there.I could play games, surf the net, listen to music, pretty much do everything. But when I couldn't installled latest OMEGA I was p***t! And naturally I blammed SP2. But then I just got a gut felling that perhaps it's the SERVICE's fault, since RPC error is usually a SERVICE's job so then I started pooking STARTING services pice by pice and then found the reason!!

M$-sure could inform us of the new services he puts in

  13. btw. Ive checked the BLKVIPER page but there's still no info what DCOM SERVER PROCCESS LAUNCHER is supposed to do, well except cos major probs when not set to automatic. Does any1 know what this service is used for?
