  1. My problem is with the SOUND DRIVER. When I install the latest driver for my Hercules Fortisimo II, windows will just restart, and keep restarting untill I uninstall the driver from my sistem in safe mode, cos when in normal mode it will instantly restart when the STARTUP sound is played.

    Help me!

  2. Been running Win2k PRO SP4+updates for 20days straight now. But 2days ago I found a strange error. The CTRL+ALT+DEL or CTRL+ALT+ESC doesn't function anymore, Scheduled Task wont engage when specified to...

SO I thought that keyboard shortcuts just don't work, but they do.Since Win+E still opens Explorer.exe!

I checked the error logs, the services.msc, Antivirus, Adware and found that there is absolutly nothing wrong.

I'm sure that a simple restart of the OS would fix all the problemes but I would prefer not having to restart the OS because of this.

  3. I've been wondering whether is it possible to have 4NICs in the Win2k3 Server machine.

One nic would be the ADSL and the other 3NICs would be connected to client computers??? And all of the machine must have Filesharing and Internet Sharing and without the use of any external applications such as Winroute.

    ps. I already have this kind of configuration set up thru the help of Winroute PRO on Win2k SP4 PRO. But since M$ is canceling Win2k support :realmad: it will be time to move on :}

As the image says more than 1000 words...

  4. So far I only tried Total Commander which has a few advantages over Explorer but not quite what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a FileManager that is similar to Explorer but it has: speed mesurment when copying files, 2pane view + TREE, better file handling,...

    What are your recomendations?

btw. I don't care if it is free or not, as long as it gets the job done...

  5. [quote name='MikeW' date='Jun 22 2004, 11:28 PM']Hey guys,

For those of you out there that no-longer use windows explorer, what do you suggest as a replacement for it?

Im not looking for bloat, don't need a bazillion things in it that make it slower to run :)

    Cheers

I've been asking the same thing myself.

There's an error with the above line. This new one works. Tested on WXP SP2

  7. Your drives won't be mapped though when your offline regardless of anything you put in your script. They will however be visible but you will not be able to access then. For this you should consider using Offline Folders.

The batch file is use at work is as follows

    net use g: \\servername\sharedfoldername

These drive show up whether i am connected to the network or not. Obviuosly i can't access them when offline.

I don't want offline files or wathever. I just want that when I restart Win2k and if one of my mapped drives computer is offline it won't bug me with that question. I would like something similar that it does in WinXP. If in WinXP a mapped drive computer isn't pressent, it doesn't bug U but it continues loading to the desktop. Now I really can't understand if this is possible in WinXP how come it is not in Win2k. Esspecialy because these2 OS are almost the same.

  8. one work around...

create a shotcut to the path you want, call it say G.lnk, whack this into system32 folder, now Start, Run G would bring up that path..

not mapping, but creating shortcut which can have a letter assigned to them...

-this works for all files and prorams by the way -shortuct put into system32 folder.

That's very interesting. Could U tell me how do I assing a letter to a shortcut?

  9. Set an administrator password 'cause local security policy doesn't allow you to log on localy..reason: blank passwords not allowed...

You can either change this setting local security policy and change this setting or (the easier way) to set an administrator password....

Tanx, did it the hard way thru GPEDIT.MSC -->> I really dislike having passwords on my client computers. I only have the SERVER passworded

  10. Just did a fresh install of WinXP w/ slipstreamed SP2.

I didn't create any User Accounts. So I use the Administrator one. But the problem is that when I try to access this computer from the HOME LAN I can't connect to it. It keeps asking me about a password and a username for this computer. The strange thing is that I haven't set any passwords, cos I never do.

Could some1 pliz help me out here??
