The way this is implemented is insecure - the CC entry form opens in an overlay of an insecure site.
-
We already did that at work - first with 10 licenses, then when these ran out, with 40 more.
-
Windows 8 renamed some of the options - eg. it's now Sign out instead of Log off, and at least in Slovenian, the translation changed accordingly. You can see that these things changed in the classic shutdown dialog - click an empty part of the desktop or taskbar and press Alt+F4, then check the drop-down entries.

This flashes on my secondary monitor for some reason. Also, at least in RC1, the highlight colour was still orange, even in high contrast theme.
-
I noticed a small cosmetic problem while translating: on the Advanced page, the "px" label is covered by the scrollbar (at least in 120DPI mode). Also, the section labels (eg. "Configure Start menu items and behavior") are always dark blue, even in high contrast themes (makes them hard to see with black background). Two more translation-related questions: - is it possible to translate the control panel icon name? - previous translation versions had some strings for the DLL, but these are missing in the most recent RU-RU.txt example file - are they not supported anymore?
-
I took the colour from the charms bar (though that one does have black background, regardless of theme). Still, I think it looks fine with most themes.
-
There's a weird problem with themes in high contrast mode: if "Disable Start Menu transparency" is enabled, Start Menu goes fully transparent in the non-default themes. Also, could you include my orb images in the installer, too?

Here's a comparision between StartIsBack 2.0 preview and Windows 7: Notice how StartIsBack's search text colour is lighter. This is even more noticeable in my high contrast mode (though the colour was originally pointed out to me by somebody else).
-
BTW, when you type in the Search box, the text has wrong colour.
-
It's probably some random signature that matches - I've had several AV programs flag a certain GIMP plugin as malware for a while.
-
Depending on how many users you have, a possible solution is to put a red warning "Antivirus XYZ wrongly detects StartIsBack as a virus. It's recommended to switch to a better AV product", then watch how fast the AV vendor fixes the problem.
-
I noticed, which is why I asked (again).
-
2.0 seems to work fine for me, except that it's reminding me in the settings that a new version is available. Anyway, is there any chance to fix the colours of the Shut down and Control Panel submenus in high contrast mode? Also, if you wish, you're free to include the orb images I made.
-
Thanks. I haven't seen this in Windows 7, so I assumed it had something to do with StartIsBack.
-
Yeah, that's the exact dialog I get. Things don't freeze while it's open, only afterwards. For me nothing happens when I click either of the buttons - the elevated program never opens (I don't get the UAC prompt because I've got it set to elevate silently).

I noticed something unusual recently: I press the Windows key, type power and then press Ctr+Shift+Enter (to run PowerShell as Administrator), but instead of PowerShell, Paint Shop Pro starts (even though PowerShell icon was selected, and Paint Shop Pro wasn't even on the list of results. If I then press the Windows key again and type something to search, the taskbar and Start Menu freeze, and I have to kill and restart explorer.exe. Edit: actually, after that happens, doing anything with the Start Menu will freeze it and the taskbar. Also, it appears that typing anything and pressing Ctrl+Shift+Enter triggers the problem (and it's always PSP trying to start up in debug mode, regardless of what I type) Using StartIsBack 1.3.3 on Windows 8 Pro x64.

I haven't seen delays in StartIsBack, but Start Screen -> All programs takes forever to load icons for me.
-
StartIsBack installer doesn't even run on x86 Windows 8 for me if DEP is enabled (bcdedit /set {current} nx alwayson from elevated command prompt, then reboot before running SiB setup) - 7-zip SFX unpacks, then nothing happens. And if I install SiB with nx disabled, then flip it to optout or alwayson, I too get empty screen (and if I start Task Manager with Ctrl+Shift+Esc, I can see that Explorer isn't running, and exits quickly if I do try to run it). Event viewer shows exception 0xc0000005 for explorer.exe.
-
It's probably loaded as a shell extension.
-
Yeah, that's what I meant - the common settings should go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE IMHO (since only Administrators should be able to change them).
-
That's probably impossible (settings are stored in Registry, and you don't normally have access to other user's hives - Windows doesn't even load them until they log in), while changing the defaults should be possible.
-
I just noticed a problem: when a new user logs in for the first time, all programs are highlighted as new. Also, would it be possible to set the default orb image for all users?
-
I recently installed some new programs, and I noticed that in All Programs, the highlight is orange, even in High Contrast theme: Can this be fixed? (the highlight colour seems to be fine in the main part of Start Menu)

I have a question about the business edition license - the FAQ states: This seems a bit self-contradictory to me - doesn't providing a paid service to install with your key count as sublicensing?
-
Is there any chance you could offer 2 business licenses for something like $10?
