  1. One more weird problem (also happens with RC3): if I press Win+X, the Shut Down or Log Off submenu doesn't open; this doesn't happen if I right-click the Start button. Oh, and a small cosmetic issue: in high contrast, the new taskbar uses window background colour for background, while the native taskbar used button face colour. Edit: correction, the background is the same as in original taskbar, it's just missing the top border.
  2. The toolbar icons did change to smaller size when I connected from work (with lower DPI), but they stayed at this smaller size when I logged in locally again. With native toolbar, the toolbar icons changed back to large size when I logged in locally (and the taskbar height adjusted [almost] properly [almost because sometimes the taskbar would be about 2 pixels too thin, which caused the notification area icons to display in a single row instead of two rows – this happened completely randomly, and it's been a problem since XP if not earlier]).
  3. One more problem: the taskbar doesn't deal with DPI changes too gracefully (my native DPI is 225%, while I use 168% at work, which I believe translates to 175% over RDP). When I was RDPed in, I only saw the top half of my taskbar (my 3 toolbars) and only the top of the taskbar buttons was visible, and now that I connected from home again, this is how the taskbar looks: I can manually enlarge it, but the toolbar icons remain small. That frame is the (keyboard) focus rectangle.
  4. Another crash, after I connected with RDP; this time I got the backtrace: explorer.exe caused an Unknown [0xC0000374] Exception at location 00007FFFCD7BC8F9 in module ntdll.dll. 5. Slovenian translation for 3.8 sl-si.txt
  6. A few problems I noticed with 3.8 RC: - I've got taskbar auto-hide set up, and most animations in Windows disabled; SaB's new taskbar animates while showing and hiding, in a slightly weird way – the background appears/hides immediately, then the content slides up/down, here's a slowed-down screen capture: (native Windows taskbar would pop up/hide without animations) - The Bat! e-mail client doesn't show in the taskbar (the first pinned icon in the animation above – the program is running, and the window is on primary monitor); additionally, if I exit it, and then start it, Explorer (including taskbar) crashes and restarts Windows 11 23H2 22631.3880
  7. My two problems with modern Alt-Tab are 1. there's a noticeable delay before it appears (especially on my low-end ARM tablet) and 2. the window previews don't add any value to me, because in high contrast mode windows look mostly the same, and the program icons are too small to be distinguishable For me the most important thing about Alt+Tab window is that it appears instantly, and that the program icons are recognisable (this is a problem with classic Alt-Tab window – modern apps all have the generic window icon, though I luckily don't use enough of those to be a problem). I don't care if the window has modern flat look, just as long as there's not too much clutter.
  8. Tihiy: not sure if this is something you can fix, but I noticed that the classic Alt+Tab dialog box (shown if you hold down Alt, tap the other Alt key, and then press Tab, or if you set HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer→AltTabSettings to 1) doesn't work any more on 24H2 (Windows 11 Pro 26100.268, Windows Server 2025 26100.560) – the dialog box doesn't appear at all, and Windows instead behaves as if Alt+Esc was pressed. Is this something that could be fixed by StartAllBack?
  9. Those $5 keys are as much cheating as using digital licenses…
  10. I've got a small problem with StartAllBack on my Volterra – when I connect with Remote Desktop, moving my mouse over the items in the right column of Start Menu often results in corruption of the background colour: I'm not sure if this is something you can fix (I wouldn't be surprised if the problem is somewhere in Qualcomm's graphic driver), though the problem only affects the default visual style (at least I can't reproduce the problem with Plain8 and Windows 7).
  11. Ouch, that's a problem for me – the new taskbar's awful (random button widths when not grouping icons, no small icons, no quicklaunch toolbars…)
  12. Another problem I noticed: when connected with Remote Desktop, the Start Menu → Power button default action setting doesn't work (it always resets to Log off, even if I choose Disconnect or Lock, the only other two options offered in power button's menu).
  13. More wrong-coloured tooltips in 3.7.5:
  14. I'm not sure if this started with 3.7.5, but I noticed that tooltips are now white-on-grey instead of following my (high contrast) theme: (the pinned icon tooltips also appear above the taskbar, even if there's a quicklaunch toolbar in between)
  15. It does work, I tested it before posting (I've had a shortcut to a .txt file pinned in my Start Menu since Windows 7, but with the method I wrote, it works with StartAllBack on Windows 11). 1. Create shortcut: 2. drag shortcut to Start Button: 3. shortcut is now pinned in Start Menu:
  16. But that's not what I said – creating a shortcut to notepad c:\path\to\file.txt is different from creating a shortcut to c:\path\to\file.txt, since the former forces the file to always open with Notepad, while the latter will use whichever program is associated with .txt files (and if the association changes after the shortcut was created, the file will then open with the newly associated program without having to edit the shortcut at all).
  17. Create a shortcut to that text file somewhere, then drag it to the Start button.
  18. Bug: trying to pin an Android app (running through WSA) to Start Menu results in some random (always the same) app getting pinned:
  19. I've got 3 Nvidia Settings icons in the notification area popup for some reason; all 3 have a tooltip, but only one of them responds to clicks.
  20. The window metrics settings in Registry are still respected, even if the UI to set them has been gone for a long time now (look in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics, you need to log off and log back on if you change anything). Unfortunately, programs that draw their own titlebars often ignore these settings, and it seems that with recent updates Office 365 joined this bandwagon.
  21. Good, because naturally this time when I got home, the problem did not manifest. OTOH, a different problem appeared: the QuickLaunch toolbar icons stayed small:
  22. Will using Process Explorer for creating the dump (right-click on Explorer→Create dump) do? Is minidump sufficient, or should I do a full dump? The issue might be related to DPI changes (I run 225% at home [two 27″ 5k monitors], while when I connect remotely, I do so from regular-DPI screens, or from my workplace where monitors are set to 168% [though I think on RDP this changes to 175%]), and always with a single screen only. High Contrast and custom window metrics (I dislike thick window borders) might be a factor, too. And I forgot to mention, this is on 23H2, 22631.2428.
  23. Updated Slovenian translation. sl-si.txt
  24. More 3.7 problems: when I connect to my computer through Remote Desktop, or when I log in locally after I was connected with Remote Destkop, Explorer is now frozen; if I press the Windows key on the keyboard, Explorer restarts and resets my Windows theme (I'm using high contrast with custom colours). There was a similar problem with StartIsBack and older versions of StartAllBack, but Explorer usually only stayed frozen for a few seconds to about a minute (and it only happened when I connected with RDP, not when I logged in locally afterwards); with 3.7 Explorer seems to stay frozen forever (at least I left it in this state for about half hour yesterday, and it never recovered), and it seems to happen every time now (previously it only happened rarely).
  25. Problems I noticed with 3.7 beta: - when taskbar is set to auto-hide, clicking the clock hides the taskbar before the flyout is displayed - taskbars on secondary displays are missing the border above Start Menu and notification area in high contrast mode: - installing 3.7 beta in remote desktop session reset my window metrics and high contrast colour settings
