  1. how do you manage to slim it down to 300mb? the smallest size I can get when I checked all options in vLite are 650mb... strange...
  2. and try burning to a DVD R, not DVD RW...
  3. well, maybe it's totally unrelated to vLite, but I'm sure vLite, will have tweak for this in the next version... How come copying dialog related to NAT? you're sure damm right, even a small 1mb file is slow to delete... there's nothing trigger that dialog, because AFAIK, the dialog is already a part of Vista. I've seen those copying dialog box since Vista RC1, don't know about earlier release but Longhorn doesn't have it. So even if you reinstall Vista, you'll still lives with those dialog box... yeah, weird... maybe those betatesters didn't do their job?
  4. I don't know about that because KLite is widely used and it's available on those reliable download site (download.com etc) Hmmm... I follow the install process from start to finish, and no errors encountered, except that when finalizing installation, it bug me about unsigned audio driver, that's all. And Vista never complained about corrupted sysfiles or something like that... maybe if you reinstall, you can try updating your Vista, and wait if it's happen (don't forget to open lotsa windows!)
  5. I used the MPC from the latest K-Lite Codec Pack version 1.70 (if I'm not mistaken), so it should have latest version of MPC too, right? I know about the blank screen, but this isn't it, it's totally turn my monitor off (but hard disk LED still blinking, so I leave it like that) and after a few minutes, the PC restart... and, compare this two picture, the first one is the normal shell extension (right-click) menu in my windows explorer and the second one is when i opened some amount of windows the menu items just dissappear in second picture... i really out of my little mind figuring out what is in the world is happening to my vista installation... [EDIT] The latest problematic apps is Adobe Photoshop 7 - It just launch for a split second and closes. Tried almost 20 times and still no luck running it... After that, I managed to run it, but it gives the error below:
  6. well maybe you will some times, does it have to do with different hardware combination (ie RAM, CPU etc.)? I used vLite'd Vista Ultimate x86 on my P4 3ghz, 512ram and 13gb hdd... yes, this one: consumes too much time if copying low speed devices such as USB 1.1 and that thing were there from RC1 (or maybe earlier) and I don't see where I can turned it off or tweak in registry ATM... and my latest test shows that when you open too much windows (on my PC), there will be something wrong with the menu, and the menu bar. it will dissappear... the latest one i discovered are: 1) Notepad 2) Media Player Classic (again, but this time I can't open more than one window and it crashes when playing HD files, I tried on Pirate of Caribbean 1080p trailer...) and for example, IE7, when I opened more than 10 windows, some of site opened in IE7 tab will have menu, and some doesn't... did vista check for my RAM and if it's low, the menu will be disabled or something? just curious...
  7. maybe he's using pirated one?
  8. WinXP have XPLite to slim down Windows AFTER installing (http://www.litepc.com/xplite.html) but as for Vista, there is no such tools yet, so I guess your best bet is reinstalling...
  9. if you say like that, then if you remove all components using vLite, wouldn't your final ISO file is -6GB? just joking...
  10. OK, after I've vLite'd Vista Ultimate, installed, activated, I use it for surfing the Internet, downloading files etc... But after 2 days of continuous uses, Vista seems to act strangely... for an instance, I cannot right-click (no menu appear) on Desktop, any folders (to refresh, view props etc) and in Internet Explorer when I open some folders/apps. But after closing one or two Explorer windows/apps, the menu worked again, and then it doesn't work again... Current app with problem running on vLite'd Vista Ultimate on my PC are: 1) Winamp 5.x (you can't click on ANY menu and right click on the Winamp window doesn't show anything, so it's useless. Older 2.x works tho...) 2) WinRAR (sometimes the menu bar dissappear and the fileview panel is empty) 3) Documents folder (files panel empty) 4) Media Player Classic (80% gives out exception error when running) 5) FlashFXP (also gives out exception error but rarely) 6) Adobe Photoshop 7 (installer doesn't work, I used portable version - first time run gives error, then it's OK) I've updated my Vista and have the following updates: 1) Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB925902) 2) Windows DreamScene (KB931133) 3) Update for Microsoft Windows (KB929735) 4) Windows DreamScene Preview (KB929327) 5) Update for Microsoft Windows (KB928089) 6) Update for Microsoft Windows (KB931573) 7) Update for Microsoft Windows (KB932246) are updates causes the bugs? or maybe the DreamScene addon? oh and, the latest ATI display driver is buggy i think, when installing (on friend's PC), the monitor is turned off in the Completing Installation process... and if you can nuhi, I would like to request something for next vLite version: Removal of calculating size/time remaining when copying files. I still have some OLDER USB 1.1 devices and the calculate things REAAALLY slow down the copying process (I have to switch to WinXP to copy files to those devices). Copying a 2.77mb files take about 30 seconds and copying a 20.4mb files make Vista crash... Thanks
  11. yeah, I've choosed to adapt the latter method, burn vlite ISO with the driver on other folder and have to install it manually... at least they work...
  12. you must be forgot to click on Apply, didn't you?
  13. I removed Help but Sniping Tool still working...
  14. that's maybe right too... but with my past experience with DELL Laptop, which have the OS Recovery CD, but uses WinXP Pro, I didn't have to enter the CD-key, never! That makes me wonder...
  15. I also get the same problem when using the old version of vLite (0.8x) and with the latest one (0.95), I get the same error when accessing the "beta" build of Vista, mostly RC1... So, I wonder, maybe RC1 file structures are different than the final one?
  16. maybe you install the wrong edition of Vista on the laptop... If the CD-key is genuine, it should work without problem. and AFAIK, using Vista upgrade DVD doesn't require you to enter your CD-key, am I right?
  17. vLite, the best things a human can create for Vista. Love it, use it, and happy with the result. But... I tried installing vLite'd Vista on Virtual PC to test it out, and it seems that Vista cannot detect my network driver because I've removed it in vLite. So, I installed the FULL Vista (which have all the drivers, of course...) on other PC, use Driver Magician to backup the Audio and Network driver for my PC and then integrate the drivers into vLite. When installing, at the end of install process, when it says Completing Installation, I got warned about unsigned driver from Vista setup bla bla bla... So I just clicked continue. But when the installation finished, the Audio driver still not installed and luckily I didn't deleted YET the drivers I backupped before so I still can reinstall it. Again, Vista complaining about the driver isn't signed, but of course it still works flawlessly... My question is, the drivers I backupped is the one from Vista itself, so why does Vista said that the driver isn't signed? Can that be avoided in the future version of vLite? because it's annoying to see those warnings in Vista setup... Right now, I'm using vLite'd Vista Ultimate x86 on: Pentium 4 3.0GHz 512MB DDR RAM 14GB HDD again, thanks to nuhi for this great app, the only reason I use Vista at first place... keep up the good works!
  18. install vLite, and play with those settings in there, there's alot you can REMOVE from Vista. I'm currently using vLite'd Vista Ultimate x86 and vLite managed to slimmed it down to 650MB only...
