  1. I re_read your msg. "go to run_type-in msconfig and look at your start-up and see what is starting and see where it is comming from, ie "desktop.dill" check it out nothing else, "google it" or re-install the OS. I always just started looking to see why it was doing what it was doing, you do have all of your files backedup don't you?, if so then your ok to look around, It might be your "Vedio Card" also Good Luck!!!
  2. hibernate is not even there... Look under "Advanced Settings" and you shood find "sleep" and some other settings, just open them up,, at the top you should find different "Power Plan's" like; Balanced, power saver and High Performance..
  3. Your problem might lie in your settings, log on in safe mode, and go to"Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings"check your "Advanced Settings" and their you can check to see if "Hibernate is checked"
  4. Try to unstall theis updates:KB933566, KB929123, KB931213, KB905866, KB929762 & KB936825 if you have them. This is all i can find on this and if this doesn't work then go back to XP.....
  5. I would like to know if this software is the same as NSW (Norton System Works) where as it can inhance your proformance cean reg, scan for changes so forth or is it just for spam/AVG type software??/has anyone tryed it??

  7. Can you add a new hard drive to your system running Vista? Now say that you have Vista on "C" HHD, and you have another Drive then you deside to change the Second hhd out and put in a different hhd, in it's place. Would you have to do another activation ??

  9. Is there a way that i can upgrade from Windows XP Pro to the Vista home premium. I know that Microsoft says that you can only upgrade to Business clase, but if you just flormat your drive and start fresh could you put a (Say) home ver. in your cd/drive?

  11. The win98se that I have boot's up, but what I won't is to change the (Autoexec.Bat File so that when the cd boots it will format my HHD Automatically with me haveing to type in (format c:). I can edit autoexec.bat but I just don't know how and where to put the word format in the file, on what line?? So if you can show me by pasting a autoexec.bat file useing two cdroms and one hhd with two part. one with 59gig and the other at 51gig,, first hhd C: the other D: then the two cdroms E: & F: Please do that if you can... So far your the only help i've gotten after posting in 10 different Forms in the past week or so. Thank You so much.....
  12. I've built a bootable win98 cd and what i would like to know is, How do you change the autoexec.bat file to format your hhd before you install the OS! What i need is an example of a Autoexec.bat file with format.com in it. Also what changes do you do to the cofig file if any. My system has two cdroms and one hhd that is split into one with 59gigs and the other with 51gigs.
  13. Hi I'm new to all of this but not to new. All that I know about computers I have tought myself I use the hands on method in building computers, read a lot and just hope it works. I'm a retired Vet.(US Army) got out in 1990 and move to Canada. My insterest are computers and how they work, right now i'm into building bootable cd's. Hope i do ok here, i don't know much on how to post or wright one but i'm sure all of you will let me know.. Thank you MSFN for letting me in to try..
