Question about Win98 and Flyakite's multi boot tutorial...
amd64lover replied to andyd's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
I had problems as well with windows 98, but i eventually got it working. did you download the 98SE.IMA file from the link in his guide? if not, then do so. here is what i did with mine... -i created a 'win98' folder in the root of my AIO-DVD and copied the entire contents of the windows 98 cd to that folder. - using WinImage, i extracted autoexec.bat and edited it. i have attached a txt file showing exactly what is in my file, yours should be exactly the same (unless you changed the setup path). If you dont have the findcd.exe file, i have attached that as well. after you edit the autoexec.bat file, drag both it and the findcd.exe file back into WinImage (which should still have the 98SE.IMA file open) and 'inject' it in there and overwrite the existing files. This should solve your problem. Let me know how it works out. Thanks AUTOEXEC.txt findcd.zip -
also, is there a way to change the 'autorun icon' from the little picture of the cd drive to something else?

Multiboot WinXP 64-Bits & 2003 Server SP1
amd64lover replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
@Alanoll sorry, if i seemed testy, but you were, and still kind of are, coming off as a prick.... i also think that you are confusing me with Nakatomi2010... i have tried that method and i am working on Windows XP x64, but it hasnt worked right for it.... @geitonaki i tried installing XP x64 using the multiboot ISO you provided and got the same 'error loading operating system' message. i thought it might be the VMware that was acting up, but i tried using the multiboot dvd that i made to install XP x64 on a real computer and it gave me the same message.... -

amd64lover replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
@geitonaki i tried fixing the master boot record, and it did work once. i tried it again to see if i could reproduce the same outcome, but i could not. i am not sure what happened, but it only worked once. i tried letting win98 create the partition, then installing windows and then fixing the mbr... in short, i tried several combinations and none of them worked after that first time. i also tried adjusting the large disk access mode in the bios, but i couldnt get it to work again. i will try downloading and playing with the file you provided to see if i can get it to work, thanks -

well, there arent that many other 64-Bit OSes available right now. by the time they do get here, i am sure an even better way will be devised as far as multibooting goes. I thought i read somewhere that I386 can be changed to I368 (and other like combinations) without causing a checksum problem in the setupldr.bin file. It was a step in the right direction and thats all many people were looking for. Why dont you post a better solution? -
I need SETUPLDR.BIN from Windows Server 2003 (non SP1)
amd64lover replied to amd64lover's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
i got it figured out, and i dont need that file anymore. for more info on how to add windows xp x64 or windows server 2003 SP1 to a multiboot dvd, see this thread ... http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=47226&st=160 -
Multiboot WinXP 64-Bits & 2003 Server SP1
amd64lover replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
Ok, i have FINALLY figured it out... the culprit was the setupldr.bin file, but instead of trying to change it (or substitue the windows 2003 non sp1 version), the key was to leave it as is. Here is what to do to get Windows XP x64 added to a multiboot DVD (i am assuming that you have read Flyakite´s Guide before following these instructinos).... - create an XP64 folder in the setup directory and copy the contents of the entire XP x64 cd to it - copy the $WIN_NT$.~BT folder to the root of the DVD and rename it to 'I386' - delete the bootsect.dat, migrate.inf, and winnt.sif files - edit txtstup.sif to show the 'setupsourcepath' as "\SETUP\XP64\" - use MagicISO (or any other similar program) to save the boot image as 'XP64.DAT'. place it in the root of the dvd (there is no need to edit this file since we renamed the boot folder to I386) - edit the cdshell.ini file to show the XP x64 option and chain it to XP64.DAT Thats it... it worked like a charm and all the other operating systems were unaffected and worked fine. This SHOULD work for Windows Server 2003 SP1 since the same problem was encountered with its setupldr.bin file. I will double check to make sure. Thanks to flyakite, Alanoll, geitonaki, Nakatomi2010, Godzilla, & everyone else who contributed. This just shows that when we work together, we can do anything. p.s. - i have uploaded my $WIN_NT$.~BT folder (the Windows XP x64 version) to rapidshare. The files inside have already been edited per the instructions above. You will still need to rename it to 'I386' and place it in the root of your DVD. It can be downloaded here.... http://rapidshare.de/files/6332118/x64_-__...T_._BT.zip.html -

I tried copying some of the files from the XP x64 ISO installation to the AIO-DVD installation to see if it would solve the 'Error loading operating system message'. I only copied the files that didnt match.... It didnt help, i still got the same error message.... -

amd64lover replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
@geitonaki well i tried using the fdisk from the Windows 98SE cd to create the partitions. I tried it two times, once letting XP x64 quick format it as NTFS and i got the same 'Error loading operating system message'. The other time i let XP x64 quick format it as FAT32 and i got a 'missing operating system' message. I made two virtual pc's (one for the AIO-DVD ISO, and one for the regular XP x64 ISO) and tried to install xp x64. I powered off each machine after the reboot and tried loading them with the DiskMount utility. The virtual disk used in the x64 setup did not mount, i got an error saying 'An unexpected error has occurred. Details have been saved in the Application event log'. After reading the application log, i noticed something that said 'The following information is part of the event: Vmount2.Vmount2Disk: last partition extends past end of disk (1044:1043).'.... so i went back and restarted the XP x64 setup on a new virtual pc and created a partition that was 1 gig smaller than the available size and let it format it (ntfs quick) and copy the files. it restarted and gave me the same 'error loading operating system' message, but this time i was able to load it with the DiskMount utlitity. I compared the two drives using Beyond Compare 2. I did two different comparisons. One based on File Size & CRC and the other was a Binary Comparison. The 'G:' Drive was the XP x64 ISO installation and the 'H:' Drive was the AIO-DVD ISO installation. As you will see in the attached pictures, most of the mismatched files were located in the \windows\system32\config folder. I tried attaching the pictures to this post, but i received an error saying "The total filespace required to upload all the attached files is greater than your per post or global limit. Please reduce the number of attachments or the size of the attachments.", so i uploaded them to rapidshare.de. they can be downloaded at http://rapidshare.de/files/6292761/File_Comparisons.zip.html While you geniuses are looking at that and thinking about possible solutions, i am going to try replacing the files that didnt match in the AIO-DVD installation with the 'good ones' from the XP x64 ISO installation and see if that helps any. -
@TrooperMan My Create Bootable Disc function doesnt work. how do we configure the ISO Creation? what are the parameters and how do we set it up? Also, when i tried to do it, i hit the 'create now' button, then a windows popped up (presumably asking where to save the file to) and it has the words 'ISO-Image speichern in...' How do i translate this into english? When i select a location to save the file to, it says 'das ISO-Image wurde nicht erfolgreich erstellt und kann deshalb nicht auf eine CD gebrannt werden'. Again, how do i get this into english?

Multiboot WinXP 64-Bits & 2003 Server SP1
amd64lover replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
he probably copied all of them because he either didnt have access to the BT/LS folders, or didnt read the directory structure list... but that shouldnt be the reason why it isnt working. maybe it has do with the replacing of 27 'AMD64' in the setupldr.bin file. i dont remember replacing that many and i got as far as getting all the files copied and the cpu restarting before it stopped working... -
Multiboot WinXP 64-Bits & 2003 Server SP1
amd64lover replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
Well, youll need to read flyakite's guide, its pretty thorough. the link is http://flyakite.msfnhosting.com/ .... that will cover everything from adding windows 98 to server 2003 (non SP1) to a multiboot DVD. and here are a semi-modified version of geitonaki's instructions on how to add Windows XP x64 to that multiboot DVD... OK so for 64 bit versions of windows we need to do probably these steps: • Create "AIO-DVD\SETUP\XP64\" • Copy the entire cd to the XP64 folder • Create "AIO-DVD\MW64\" • Create "AIO-DVD\PRO64\" • Copy all files (or only those needed) from "AIO-DVD\SETUP\ XP64\I386\" to "AIO-DVD\MW64\" • Copy all files (or only those needed) from "AIO-DVD\SETUP\XP64\AMD64\" to "AIO-DVD\PRO64\" • Take the original setupldr.bin of win2003 32bit with no sp1, replace all instances of "I386" with "MW64", replace "\AMD64" with "\PRO64" and "AMD64\" with "PRO64\" and save it in "AIO-DVD\MW64\" • Take the regular boot sector file, replace "I386" with "MW64" and save it as "MW64.BIN" in "AIO-DVD\" • Copy "WIN51" and "WIN51AP" from "AIO-DVD\SETUP\XP64\" to "AIO-DVD\" • Edit "AIO-DVD\PRO64\TXTSETUP.SIF" and change SetupSourcePath = "\" to SetupSourcePath = "\SETUP\XP64\" • Now you can link the boot sector in your boot menu (like cdshell). Let us know how it works for you. -

so i burned the iso image to a DVD and tried installing it on an actual PC and it didnt work. I got an 'A disk read error occured. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart'.... not sure what the problem is or why the error is different. maybe something to do with the bios of the computer on which i am installing it (both are exactly the same). maybe VMware is inheriting the properties of my flawed bios. i read and read and it seems that all the solutions say something about enabling large access mode or LBA, but my motherboard bios doesnt have that option and neither does VMware... what to do now? -
Multiboot WinXP 64-Bits & 2003 Server SP1
amd64lover replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
@geitonaki i already installed Windows XP x64 from the cd to VMware (so i could ge the $WIN_NT$.~BT& $WIN_NT$.~LS folders) and it worked fine. I tried using the files from those folders (and copying them into the MW64 and PRO64 folders) and i also tried using the AMD64 & I386 folders from the cd (and copying them into the MW64 and PRO64 folders), but neither one of those worked. same 'Error loading operating system' meesage. i already have read up on that error and it looks like a bios issue. ill try it out on an actual PC (instead of vmware) and see how it works.... -

@veovis did you mean to attach something? if so, it didnt get attached.... -
I am working with some people on being able to add Windows XP x64 to a multiboot DVD, and in order to do this, I need the setupldr.bin file from Windows Server 2003 (NON SP1). It has to be the version without SP1 integrated otherwise it wont work. The SP1 version has a built-in checksum that wont allow the file to be edited. If you do have it, you could upload it to http://www.rapidshare.de/ (its fast and free) so we could get it. Please Help!!!!

ok, that solved the kernal fault problem. everything was going fine. setup formatted and copied the files with no problem, but when it restarted, i got an error message saying 'Error loading operating system'... i wonder if this is because of the setupldr.bin file? i am trying to find a non SP1 to tryout... -
ok, ill try that out and see how it works... in the mean time, would you mind taking screenshots of directories/layout of your dvd and posting them up? thanks
-
did you copy the entire root of the xp64 cd to the root of your aio dvd? or just the amd64 and i386 folders? if you did copy the entire contents, did you overwrite any files that were the same (like the WIN51 file)? lastly, did you use the XP64.DAT, or chain it to the boot.bin file?

Multiboot WinXP 64-Bits & 2003 Server SP1
amd64lover replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
ok, geitonaki, i tried what you said and it didnt work. i received a 'kernel stack fault' error in VMware which caused it to reset. i followed your instructions (i changed the place holder letters to actual ones). the only thing was that i wasnt 100% sure if the setupldr.bin file was from a windows 2003 cd without sp1. i cant remember if i slipstreamed sp1 in my windows 2003 server cd... here are your instructions that i followed with actual folder names... • Create "AIO-DVD\SETUP\XP64\" • Copy the entire cd to the XP64 folder • Create "AIO-DVD\MW64\" • Create "AIO-DVD\PR64\" • Copy all files (or only those needed) from "AIO-DVD\SETUP\ XP64\I386\" to "AIO-DVD\MW64\" • Copy all files (or only those needed) from "AIO-DVD\SETUP\XP64\AMD64\" to "AIO-DVD\PR64\" • Take the original setupldr.bin of win2003 32bit with no sp1, replace all instances of "I386" with "MW64", replace "\AMD64" with "\PR64" and "AMD64\" with "PR64\" and save it in "AIO-DVD\MW64\" • Take the regular boot sector file, replace "I386" with "MW64" and save it as "MW64.BIN" in "AIO-DVD\" • Copy "WIN51" and "WIN51AP" from "AIO-DVD\SETUP\XP64\" to "AIO-DVD\" • Edit "AIO-DVD\PR64\TXTSETUP.SIF" and change SetupSourcePath = "\" to SetupSourcePath = "\SETUP\XP64\" any ideas anyone? -
what other operating systems do have on your multiboot cd? i did that as well, and the XP x64 installed just fine, but none of the other OS i had on there would install. if i renamed the 'AMD64' folder, then the other ones would work, but XP x64 wouldnt... can you try to install the other ones and see if you had the same problem as me?
-
I followed your instructions exactly, but it is still not working right. All the installs from the multiboot dvd (made following flyakite's guide) become XP installs that do not work. But if i rename the AMD64 folder to something else, anything else, then the other installations will work fine, but the XP x64 wont work....
-
I download your file (thanks for taking the time to make it) and made a AIO Windows DVD following flyakite's guide... Now how do I integrate your CD into that DVD?
