  1. There is no url to download this and the url is removed from the previous topic. If anyone else can't find this (lets face it, there is no link) here it is, this is only the Micro version though... http://updatepack.nl/nerolite/Nero-7.7.5.1_english_micro.exe
  2. Thanks for taking the time to post this, it works perfectly!
  3. I have the Ultimate Edition of Vista and stripped it with vLite, but this is more of an unattended issue rather than vLite - this DVD being the Ultimate Vista had all versions on it (Standard, Business etc) and after using vLite it is now only the Ultimate Edition on its own, but, I am getting this screen coming up... ... there is only the Ultimate Edition on this disc so i want the XML file to just choose this one without popping this screen up. Shall I just blame Nuhi? Only joking, but seriously, is it because it has (vLite) in the name the WAIK is ignoring it? I was installing this with no key, because it is when I put my product key in, thats when this screen pops up - if I leave the key blank this screen does not pop up! Yes, I have already tried (in the WAIK System Image Manager) to choose the product but it had no effect, this one... If it is putting in the product key that is causing the first image then what can I do? After looking at prathapml's code for an unattended Ultimate install I put this in with the WAIK: <InstallFrom> <MetaData wcm:action="add"> <Value>Windows Vista (vLite) ULTIMATE</Value> <Key>1</Key> </MetaData> </InstallFrom> But it didn't work so I tried this: <InstallFrom> <MetaData wcm:action="add"> <Value>Windows Vista ULTIMATE</Value> <Key>1</Key> </MetaData> </InstallFrom> Didn't work either! HELP!
  4. *BUMP* Why is the connect.microsoft.com site so useless? You type "vista" in the search box, something as simple as that and the page doesn't even change! No results for "vista" on a Microsoft site, come on... I got the WAIK from there in the past, now its not even available? How the hell are people doing unattended installs of Vista then? People are just not doing unattended installs of Vista anymore? D.I.C.K.H.E.A.D.S........ http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en
  5. The WAIK is not downloadable anymore from this link... http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/6...5-LRMAIK_EN.img ... and if you search for the WAIK on MS Downloads all you get is: Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) User's Guide for Windows Vista I can get it on torrents of course but I just wondered if theres any HTTP link from MS themselves, I never trust torrents.
  6. Yeah thats the only reason they are visible for me, I am setting tweaks to show all files.. all meaning.. ALL. Its weird... it takes about 30 seconds to log in and I have set it to sleep for 90 seconds, the CMD that runs the delete command kicks in after about 75 seconds so thats 45 seconds after it has finished logging in... maybe I could just not set it to show all hidden system files but I didn't really want to do that... I like being able to see pagefile.sys and anything else thats there... although saying that, there are a lot of strange shortcuts on the C drive that you cannot even access, those wouldn't show if the tweak was removed and I guess it looks a lot more tidy too. Its always the principle of it with me though, none of this solves the problem of why that desktop.ini can't be deleted on the first login! I can manually run the commands in the first post on the first login no problem and it deletes the file. I suppose Vista is protecting itself somehow, which I can't complain about.
  7. OK this is really annoying me now... and it didn't happen on XP. You assume I have disabled some service or other and something isn't working? Ha! I wish! I can't even get started because I go here: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services] Then I export that entire key, it ends up about 1.7Mb as a .reg file (I have stripped a lot out with vLite) So I start looking next to "Display Name" in the reg file and instead of it having the display name like "DNS Client" it has a path to the DLL file with a switch. In other words you can't just easily find these services in the registry! What would take maybe one hour is now going to take two f**king days. Anyone else know how to solve this I mean, this IS the correct key, yes?........ [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services]

    $OEM$ Folder

I don't understand much of this... S3pHiroTh said: It doesn't work as $OEM$ directory do, it works only with ProgramFiles and Windows directory. If you want to create a directory as "Custom" in SystemDrive, you cannot do it with HFEXPERT directory! But if you want a custom folder on the systemdrive, why doesn't putting it here work... SOURCE\$OEM$\$1\Custom Since what I said (xcopy the $OEM$) is already covered (Super-Magician said "This already exists. The entire SOURCE folder is ALWAYS copied to SOURCESS.") then it will copy it, no?
  9. You can submit your log files here: http://www.hijackthis.de For C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Antivirus\VetMsg.exe it says... Possibly nasty! According to our database this process runs normally in c:\programme\ca.*\ Check if you know this process and arrange a viruscheck where required. Well, that seems pretty nonsensical to me, you can upload any file you think is suspicious to http://www.virustotal.com/en/indexf.html
  10. A solution you may consider is visiting my repository for ready made switchless installers. There is one for the Flash program, and a separate installer for the firefox plugin. shark Thanks, I forgot to say the Flash Player I am using is switchless, I made it into an SFX with WinRAR. Hmmmm, the batch file run from the SFX says in english terminology.... "if the plugin is installed already - don't install it". It covers three browsers, sheesh, I will cut all that out and see if it fixes it but I still don't understand why this should make it not install as fast.
  11. I am installing Flash Player v9.0.28.0 on an unattended install and it is taking a long time to install - something like 10 minutes! It should take less than one minute, or normally does. I am installing Firefox, then a few other apps and Flash Player last, so it can install into Firefox and is all set up. Anyone else had this happening? It takes so long I am considering just leaving it out completely which I never wanted to do but I am not having a file thats less than 2Mb taking ten minutes to install, its ridiculous. This installs before the first login, maybe swapping it to when Windows is logged in might make it install like it should?
  12. As long as you have Windows Media Player 11 installed you can watch WMP videos in web pages in Firefox even if "ActiveX Streaming Video" is removed... just find these files (any dll dump site has them) and put them in Program Files\Windows Media Player npdrmv2.dll npdsplay.dll npwmsdrm.dll This stops that annoying "Install Plugin" message in Firefox where the plugin does not even install.
  13. Yes. Reg tweaks are applied the exact same time this command runs so, no it has not rebooted to let them take effect, I wonder how you can do a reg import before that like with XP @ T-12 minute stage... Yes, its under <FirstLogonCommands> which is why it has to sleep a while before it logs in... otherwise I think its trying to apply reg settings too soon. Is it probably UAC thats the reason for this file not deleting?
  14. For the first time ever, I have actually found something sold in the UK for far cheaper than the US - Windows Vista Ultimate and no, this is not the Upgrade its the full one for what amounts to about $265 (not $400 like in the US)............... http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.a...0&GroupID=0 Gotta love the way they just broadcast this so anyone can go in a shop and take a picture of the serial. You know whats REALLY funny about this, I doubt it is even illegal - because you're not actually stealing anything and you cannot (according to the "Digital Millennium Copyright Act") hold any copyright to a random sequence of numbers and letters - this is how people can sell XP keys and get away with it. Where theres a will theres a way.
  15. AFAIK they all do this. I had a 250Gb Maxtor that was in fact 233Gb. Same as they say SATA2 runs @ 300Mb/s when people test them it is actually 80Mb/s. 80Mb/s, huh, thats not really that much faster than IDE on DMA 6.
  16. I've been trying to work out how to get rid of this crappy folder for FIVE YEARS. Which is probably the last time I used "System Restore".

    1.3 RC2

I had this happen to me but I didn't just nLite the install, it had BTS driverpacks and windowblinds added to it. You know what solved it for me? I removed MORE components and thats what made the keyboards work again (I couldn't choose UK then on a more stripped build I could) problem is I don't know what I removed to make it work. Removing things to make something work, is this a first? The exact message was: "Windows could not properly load the English (United Kingdom) keyboard layout"
  18. Yeah I heard it can bust your burner Yes, but my only question is about what can fit on a 700Mb CD, 700 Million bytes or 732 Million bytes, lol. When 732 Million bytes = just under 700Mb I can only assume its safe to do that, just like this...

    $OEM$ Folder

Since HFSLIP is a batch file why not just add a command at the end to xcopy the folder from source to sourcess? It cant be hard... XCOPY "SOURCE\$OEM$" "SOURCESS\$OEM$" /I /S /E /R /V /K /F /C /H /Y
  20. Im no mod but dudes, please don't talk about stuff like "cracks" here. Anyway setting your BIOS on 2099 isn't a crack or illegal, but it makes it sound real bad when you say "crack" especially when you don't really need to say it! Its not a "crack" its a trick.
  21. 700 x (1024 bytes). In other words more than 732,000,000 bytes. OK, I will blame you when it won't burn it Only joking.... I would search Google for the answer but this is more fun.
  22. I am running a CMD file on first logon. This CMD file has the "restart in 120 seconds" command first of all, then it waits 90 seconds so Vista has a chance to fully log in. After the 90 seconds is up, the next commands are like this to delete the desktop.ini file: ATTRIB -S -H -R "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\desktop.ini" ATTRIB -S -H -R "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Public\Desktop\desktop.ini" ATTRIB -S -H -R "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Administrator\Desktop\desktop.ini" DEL /F /S /Q "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\desktop.ini" DEL /F /S /Q "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Public\Desktop\desktop.ini" DEL /F /S /Q "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Administrator\Desktop\desktop.ini" Even though this 90 second wait is easily long enough (it probably logs in fully after about 30 seconds) and I can see the desktop.ini file there, this command is not deleting the file. If I let it reboot and run the above command, it does delete the file... does anyone know where I am going wrong or why it is not deleting the file? ATTRIB -S -H -R means take off the "hidden/system/read only" attributes, so its not because its a hidden system file... maybe I could put a 5 second wait between the commands like this: ATTRIB -S -H -R "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\desktop.ini" ATTRIB -S -H -R "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Public\Desktop\desktop.ini" ATTRIB -S -H -R "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Administrator\Desktop\desktop.ini" SLEEP 5 DEL /F /S /Q "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\desktop.ini" DEL /F /S /Q "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Public\Desktop\desktop.ini" DEL /F /S /Q "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Administrator\Desktop\desktop.ini" But I have a feeling this has nothing to do with it since on XP I have removed attributes and had the DEL command right after it with no problems. This isn't a case of it recreating the file on reboot - because I can see the file there and the command does not delete it.
  23. But I don't know what you can fit on a CD. 700Mb or 700,000,000 bytes? They are not the same amount of data.
  24. 683Mb = 700,000,000 bytes (roughly) 700Mb = 716,800,000 bytes (worked out by 700 x 1,024,000) I think I have worked that out wrong somehow, heres the size of my VistaLite ISO.... Is that 2Mb under or 32.5Mb over? Please tell me its 2Mb under! I only have 2 CD-R's left and don't wanna waste one. Which one is right, I mean what is the maximum a "700Mb" CD can hold? I have had AVI files someone has given me and said "its over 700Mb but just burn it and it will be OK" and indeed - it is OK... its pretty confusing.
  25. This is relieving to know. So really there is some sort of intelligent checker in the setup that looks at what is going to be installed and does allow you to install on a smaller partition? I will just have to create an 8Gb partition (in VMware) and see if it allows it - one stripped down to something like 700Mb - 900Mb.
