  3. u sure its "blank" by default? do u know if there's any other key that controls that wallpaper thing? cuz i changed to blank....and it doesn't look like what my comp was used to be

    Big Queston!

when one delete registry entries in the registry, the registry file size does not reduce in windows me, there is a function called something like regsvr32/fix where windows rebuilds the registry for you and dramatically reduce the registry file size in windows xp..where is this function?...my registry is keep on growing bigger and bigger in size!
  10. try installing power strip u can change refresh rate using that prog.....usually ****...ur geoforce is so good my cheap xpert 98..when i click advance under display properties...they only provide me with one tab...nothing else.....a cheap driver..and ati doesn't even support it anymore on xp
  11. hi its me again thx for the suggestion i did try to delete the apci thingy and when i reboot...windows didn't notice a new hardware and found nothing...as i said before..though windows said that one is enabled...i think windows is using the "standard computer" one instead... after deleting that acpi thingy..i tried to install the "NT APM/legacy support", since i don't haf that installed....(even when i turned shown hidden device on of cuz)...and when i reboot...it said i can't initalize the driver...or something of that sort....so there's a problem with it....so now still no solution one thing that i realized...before not only does my windows shuts my comp automatically...i also haf standby option..when u go to start menu shut down...now that option is grayed out!!!!! so bs any solution except format? thx
  12. if u didn't please see the image that i uploaded that should explain my problem pretty clearly thx about that nt/apm thing, is it in the root of the device manager? so if i turn on show hidden then i should see it? no i didn't see it i don't think i wanna reinstall xp cuz the first time i install xp....my comp shuts down fine but then i reinstall and problem occurs i really think the last image i uploaded will help explain my problem i m trying to get rid of the standard comp thing and that acpi thing.....though under device usage it is enabled...there is no driver installed....and i don't know how to install a driver for it....the acpi thing is what i m sure that needs to be enabled...instead of the standard comp thing....for my comp to shut down
  13. can't find any solution in that microsoft site this safe to shut down screen is really really annoying and i don't haf it b4...in xp... anyone how to fix it man?!?!?!?!? i really think this is the problem: the 2 things under the computer under device manager suppose to haf only the acpi but don't know why my acpi one isn't working and the standard computer one took over how do i use the acpi one and tell the stupid xp not to use the standard comp one please view the images below and u will get what i mean thx
  14. nah my win98 is in another language and i need it for my sister to run some applications
  15. i don't get what u are saying Cyborg_Dell 1. I DID perform an upgrade.....from windows me to xp 2. both set to c:? 3. what's fast detecting anywayz?

  19. hermit

    ftp?

how do i get onto the ftp thing?
  20. xperties said all that are done then what do u use i can't get onto edonkey too those servers won't connect so what is the solution
  21. thx thx man~!~!~!!! ok i will see if system commander supports ntfs...and try to change it from there.....cuz system commander got an undo feature.. so aside from lilo , do u know any good boot manager? system commander doesn't support xp.... so u ever tried boot magic? is it good? can u do a screenshot of the boot screen of boot magic if u haf it thx man
  22. ok thx for ur answer now another question 1. if there is this hiding o/s problem then why can i boot to different o/s using system commander?....and not the xp boot menu? 2. pm7...its compatible with xp....but many said they screwed up their system with it.....what's wrong with the prog?...why be careful? isn't it just like any other partition prog? 3. can i convert back to fat 32 after i convert to ntfs? 4. just to get it clear so if i stay with 2 fat 32 now....then i will hafta hide the o/s each time i try to boot an o/s?...ex. if wannna boot to xp.then hide win98 and vice versa?...that's annoying...system commander works better in that case 5. so if i use ntfs for xp then no problem exist? thx for continous help!
  23. i did try it b4 but it seemed like that the installer didn't wanna update anything it just breezed through... one option is to install the inf thing i did but it said u need to manual install it after using the installer 1. what's the inf thing for 2. where did they put the inf file....so i can install it manually?
  24. ya tweakxp got a resort function
  25. wow nice long answer thx very helpful (i m not sure if i understand all of what u said though) few comments and questions: 1. don't wanna format cuz lazy backup 2. what would be the side effect of converting my partition to ntfs? what's the difference between the two?....performance? 3. Lilo ? never heard of it! lol...any xp compatible boot manager?...i haf system commander 2k..but not compatible with xp..and don't think it can hide o/s...boot magic good?...any other ones? 4. i thought xp tries to make itself a secondary partition?!?!?!? cuz it said partition "2" in the boot.ini 5. when i tell my computer to boot from partition 1 which contains windows 98 (i guess), windows just restart itself if i tell it to boot from partition 2, windows said it can't find some xp files 6. just wanna tell you my situation clearly: before xp, i haf windows me as the one i mainly use then i partitioned another drive for a windows 98 (another language other than english) so i guess winme is c: and win98 is e: while my d: is just a few hundred mb of data so what should i do now? u sure i can't boot from with 2 fat32 partitions? thx man Loucypher! =)
