  1. Nah i noticed that yesterday but when I select it, it doesnt seem to add anything to the list. I am building a computer for some1 next week and they want a second hand 17" monitor (he he he) so i will soon be investing in a new 19"!
  2. that is it.... I think i am doomed either to get headaches from a flickering screen or be able to read my screen from 15 feet :< cheers for your ideas thou.
  3. It is a Daytek (daewoo), as for the model, i cannot tell because the label was ripped off long ago. Never needed to know b4! What I would like is the Plug and Play Monitor driver for Windows XP then i could install a new monitor using that. I dont know if you have noticed but M$ has changed the way you can use the add new hardware wiz. You cannot force the standard M$ drivers anymore (I used that many times for a modem with no dirvers). I know it makes it a bit more user friendly but it is a bit of a step back if u ask me.
  4. I have the same problem that loucypher has. An "unknown" monitor according to the manufacturer. Using 98 and 2000 it detects it as a Plug and Play monitor NOT a Default Monitor. I have already told you that I have a ge force 2 gts and even the reference design boards (as most of them are) can do more than 60hz in 1600x1200 letalone in 1280x1024. I also mentioned that I am using the detonator drivers, which you might know are M$ WHQL Signed drivers and thus I doubt that they are faulty. Especially when you think that all of the gaming freaks out there use the v21.83 drivers and run at higher res at a higher hz. Do you think that if there was a problem with the diver and refresh rates at high res then the hardcore gaming community would have noticed, let alone M$ when they signed them. No... the issue here is very likely the problem that I CANNOT change my monitor driver OR install a new one (either would be nice) because when you go to Add New Hardware Device and then manually install another monitor there is no M$ Plug and Play driver as there has been in all other PnP editions of M$ windows. I would like Windows to detect my monitor as a PnP one as it did with LouCypher. But because my monitor does not exist in device manager I cannot delete the driver to force windows to have another go and i cannot change the driver manually.?!?
  5. sorry XPerties, I miss read your msg. I dont think however that slagging me off was the next course of action though. I have been building and fixing computers since I was 11 for people I dont know. I am not a creatin, nor a computer newbie. Just to hit this home I have detonator drivers 21.83 and before I posted the first msg I tried downgrading the detonators to no avail, then tried the drivers supplied by the manufacturer. again no result. It is VERY unlikely that this is a problem with the graphics card as I cannot even find any drivers for the monitor to upgrade or disable or delete. Plus it has worked with 2000 and 98se many many times b4.
  6. thanks for your replies, unfortunatly none of them have worked. The only one I haven't tried is the reseting and starting in safe mode. well done that man I never thought of that one. and to XPerties... **** it i have only just bought a geforce 2 gts. I aint about 2 fork out anymore. The thing that is winding me up is that it works fine in this res at 72hz fine in 2000 and 98. god **** you M$ (...well I have to blame some1!) cheers
  7. yea that is the problem, the properties button on the monitor page is greyed out!!?!? check the jpg
  8. It is definatly not in device manager. I have no disks for the monitor but I had this problem in 98 all i did was change it from "Default Monitor" to "Plug and Ply" monitor. There is no option under display prefs to change the monitor as there usually is and the only referesh rate is 60hz. I know it does more.
  9. I am using PRO, and I cannot seem to change my monitor from "Default Monitor" to anything else. Under display properties -> advanced -> monitor tab the button to change it is greyed out. This means that I can only display in 60hz. Cannot find my monitor under device manager so cannot seem to change it. any advise?!
