I am making a lot of unattended standalone discs right now that I'll eventually make into an AIO. Right now my biggest problem is Windows XP. Every other OS before and after is fine but the ones using the Windows NT 5.1 kernel. I need to integrate Windows Update, Windows Genuine (dis)Advantage as well as Flash 8. Finally! DirectX isn't an issue(yet)! I need to save a lot of time and bandwidth when testing my updated installs and a way to integrate at bare minimum Flash 8 and LegitCheckControl would be great. I once had setup where it would install the later, but the change I made in TXTSETUP is now null and not working anymore. I like doing things manually and while joliet names are probably going to be acceptable anyway, getting files in the old 8.3 format would be like...Teh awesomez0r. Can anyone help with this? After this I'm thinking of minimizing the installs with gosh's wipe-unnecessary-crap-and-boot-to-PE method. I remember Microsoft had a bunch of CAB files for installing and updating. I remember there being one with the information for the WU ActiveX controls and there used to be a CAB in my Downloaded Programs folder for the LegitCheckControl, but I never see it anymore and I lost the synchronization url. Can anyone list them for me? I've wasted two days of fruitless thread-sifting and it's important that I find these and find a way to install them upon new installation. My host OS is Windows XP Professional SP1 and it's going to stay that way until SP3 is released. I'm hoping that SP3 will make my current attempts void anyway. I don't have that kind of time to wait around though. ------------------------------- Okies I have the CABs...Now I'm just trying to figure out what to do with them. Shockwave ActiveX - 48.7K http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shock...director/sw.cab Shockwave Flash - 724K http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flash...ent/swflash.cab Windows Genuine disAdvantage - 347.3K http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=39204 Windows Update Web ActiveX 86K http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/...b?1130827246890 I wonder if this can be done with a job...=/ 45 views and no reply?! Wow...Either no one knows what they're doing or this task really really sucks. Come on guys! Give me something to start off with! o.O

Integrate Windows genuine advantage

Eh....Does anyone have the WGA hotfix available for manual download? It would be a really big help... -
Integrate Windows genuine advantage
Daemonforce replied to jquintino's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
The process is so annoying that I made a batch file just to integrate hotfixes. o_O ............ I can't integrate hotfixes that aren't available for integration. It's making it a problem when trying to replace already installed copies. >.< I'm going the TXTSETUP route. I made a CAB called LEGITCHK.DL_ that expands out the LegitCheckControl.dll when extracted. I took the placement information of Winlogon and I'm testing it right now. So far the Update tool seems broken. o.O Ok NOW this is getting annoying...>.<' I just installed the WGA update and WUS tool and then the WU site breaks on me. No check issue no validation...Just BREAKS! o_O -
Integrate Windows genuine advantage
Daemonforce replied to jquintino's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
This is a bit of a problem for me. I want to integrate it seamlessly(TXTSETUP.SIF) and have it copy over correctly. The problem is the CD doesn't use Joliet and I'm not about to start. 8.3 filenames suddenly found a way to bug me again. Is there any way to slip LegitControlCheck.DLL into the CD installation without using joliet settings or having an invalid filename? I remember WGA used to exist as a CAB entry in Downloaded Program Files but I can't find it anymore! -
I'm not tempered...I just don't like it. *clicky* RrRrRrRrAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaWwWwWwRrRrRrRrR!!!eleventy >.<' I'll look into it. I have RC0 right now.

The problem with this is that Windows will whine and gripe about replaced files. Is there any way to edit the checksum?

Your floppy has an i386? o.O' WINNT.SIF copies from the i386 if there is one there and it looks for a WINNT.SIF on the floppy regardless of there being a WINNT.SIF in the i386 directory. I have no idea which one copies when they both exist and I'm not about to try right now.

How to alter the Windows Setup defaults
Daemonforce replied to Daemonforce's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Y helo thar. Got it. -
Look at the program "XPlite" if you wish to delete XP components [actually hidden I think since you can recover them]. GeneK Thanks...I already got it this morning in the Unattend forum. ' If only there was a way to completely wipe it from the disc as if it never even existed... XPlite p***es me off. It's just another noob-admin program like BartPE....Except it's legal and doesn't suck. Maybe it would be a good answer. =/

Requesting directory post of an original xp pro w/ sp2 cd
Daemonforce replied to xatruch's topic in Windows XP
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. =/ I removed the contents of the DOTNETFX directory and placed the final .NET 2.0 build in there after hacking the autorun file. It's great. -
According to setup...That is correct. But isn't it fairly obvious? It's gonna copy one or the other... I'm a little busy right now to play NT Roulette with my virtual machines.

How to alter the Windows Setup defaults
Daemonforce replied to Daemonforce's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Thanks. The unattend script is a big help, but is there any way to hard-remove Windows Messenger...You know....Permanently? o.O I don't even want it to show up in Windows Components wizard. I know it's a weird request but I'm just sick of this useless program and all the hotfixes WUS enjoys nagging me with. If there was a way to do that it would be perfect. -
I'm having some trouble trying to find the code that installs Windows Messenger by default from my corporate unattend. Windows Messenger is old and serves no purpose over a large network. It's inappropriate and I'm not going to go into setup to uninstall it on several machines after deployment. I just want to see it completely gone from setup and the installation disc. Also for Windows Media Center deployment, is there any way to bundle MSN Messenger 7.5 with it? o.O

Windows Setup creates an arguement based on where the WINNT.SIF is. If it's in i386 it will accept it yet it will still look for a WINNT.SIF in drive A: or whatever you have your floppy drive set to. When both exist to make this arguement, which WINNT.SIF does setup use?

Requesting directory post of an original xp pro w/ sp2 cd
Daemonforce replied to xatruch's topic in Windows XP
I don't see anything like that. I have these: XP Pro SP0 XP Home SP1 /Int XP Pro SP1 /Int XP Pro SP2 /Int XP Pro SP1 VLK /Int XP Pro SP2 VLK /Int XP MCE SP1 /Int XP MCE SP2 The XP MCE 2005 disc seems to have no trace of SP2 yet is fully up to date. Is that what you're looking for? -
I'm really getting sick of this crap. Windows Messenger is useless to me and any hotmail/MSN user right now because it is outdated and there is a new message service version available. Windows Messenger is not approriate for packaging in corporate redistribution, it likes to hide silently in the background, it used to be a must for MSN Messenger installation(maybe still is) and it's driving me nuts because it needs security fixes! >.<' I want to get rid of this junk once and for all. I've tried removing the setup info from TXTSETUP.SIF and removing the cab and CAT files but the unattend installation wants the files anyway. Is there any way to manually get rid of this garbage so it doesn't exist without screwing up anything else?

is there are program that will automaticly fix win xp?
Daemonforce replied to kurt476's topic in Windows XP
I call it Windows Update. =/ -
Now if it were possible to edit the background colors in text setup, that would be great. But it appears to be impossible according to someone here. =/

****....I was really looking forward to this one too. =/
