  1. yes. But the Longhorn Themes requires that you replace files, which is not good. So use the 6519 Theme.
  2. uncheck all 3 checkboxes:
  3. I only have a png of my favorite start orb, so I must wait for Beta3 or the Final.
  4. uxstyle and AveStyler patch the uxtheme.dll in memory, so that you don't have to modify files
  5. for me uxstyle doesn't work and I've bought AveStyler some years ago and it works fine under Windows 7. And yes, unless you don't patch any files it is safe to use the msstyle files. I'm also using an unofficial Windows 8 RP Aero Theme on Windows 7
  6. I'm listening the songs of the participants of "The Voice of Germany"
  7. Is the $OEM$ method not working? sources\$OEM$\$1\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Have you tried this? Should be easier instead of mounting the image all time.
  8. the right Windows-Key to show the Metro startscreen doesn't always work for me. The fist time, metro shows for a few ms and goes away. the second time, the desktop startmenu shows up and when i press the key again I go to Metro.
  9. I refer to the old xperfview.exe and not the new WPA.
  10. the new times are ok. So the driver update was ok For what do you use the CCC? 1 only use MSI Afterburner to reduce the fan speed. You can start it via task scheduler at 3 minutes after logon. Have you done the optimization?
  11. I haven't tried it on Vista with the new Win8 SDK. You can try the old WPT from the Win7 SDK: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8279
  12. he still uses the RP which supports Aero Glass.
  13. I only know this which lists all apps so that you can run them faster from desktop: %windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1}
  14. ok. the new boot traces shows that it is faster. Only 42s to the desktop, but it still doesn't show the end: - <timing bootDoneViaExplorer="42431" bootDoneViaPostBoot="-1" The Audio service now starts faster (only 1s). But your disk is busy all the time. You also use MSE and this causes a high CPU and disk activity. Try a different tool like AVG, Avira or Avast. Also try the cleanup tools from Startup like the AMD CCC which is very slow to start. And do you need all logitech software right at boot? What is SABnzbd.exe? Do you need it? I can also see that the prefetcher doesn't work perfectly. So follow my optimization guide I've linked in the first post. Install the hotfixes, reboot, run the new command to reboot the PC 6 times. This should give you a large boost.
  15. you should do it. Otherwise I can't see when Windows is fully booted.
  16. nice I'll try it
  17. ok, your Windows boots in 57s to the desktop. I can see a long delay in the WinLogonInit phase. Here it takes nearly 24 to start the Audio service: serviceTransition name="AudioSrv" group="AudioGroup" transition="start" totalTransitionTimeDelta="23745" So try to update the audio drivers for your Creative SB X-Fi.
  18. ok, thanks for the feedback.
  19. You should get an email from MS after finishing the Trial request. Enter this key during setup and you should have an option to activate it.
  20. http://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=26277 Pwned is the username of this guy. I can't see any claims that he wrote the patch.
  21. Activate Windows 8!
  22. So you get OEM PCs with Win7 until 2014. http://www.zdnet.com/how-to-skip-windows-8-and-continue-using-windows-7-7000001734/
  23. What do you expect from the trolls at Fanboy central? Neowin is simply terrible and most users have no deeper knowledge.
  24. ? You run dropbox, teamviewer, µtorrent, stardock fences, Synaptics tools, TightVNC, Also how large is your Windows search index? The service takes 28s to init. Set the starttyp to manual and create a scheduled task which starts the service (net start WSearch), let me say 3min after logon. See if this helps.
