Long WinLogon init after upgrading from Windows 7
MagicAndre1981 replied to pagi4's topic in Windows 8
it's now your turn, cluberti. I have no idea. The only thing you can try is to create a new empty account and see if it happens there, too. -
the GP service seems to hang and the 2 drivers CLIF.sys and aswsnx.sys (Avast) cause delays. Wait of an advice of cluberti.
-
have you tried installing Win8 with an USB flash drive?
-
you can use xperf.. Use this command: xperf -on latency -stackwalk profile -buffersize 1024 -MaxFile 256 -FileMode Circular && timeout -1 && xperf -d DPC_Interrupt.etl this limits the filesize to 256MB and overrides the old useless data. after you had the issue, go back to CMD and press a key to stop logging.

Think of this screen in 4 years when you have to install 300 updates
-
no, vLite doesn't support slipstreaming of Sp2.

Happy sixth birthday, Windows Vista
MagicAndre1981 replied to UltimateSilence's topic in General Discussion
I think we had this discussion with Win7 ,too. I would say birthday = compile date of RTM and this is 18th october 2006: vista_6000.16384.061018-1900_x86fre_client-LRMCFRE_EN_DVD.iso But Happy Birthday Vista I would be a Mac or Linux user for years without you Vista -
They will crack all tools. Today I saw a thread about a crack of Start8 in MDL. The price is fair and I'll buy it no matter if there are cracked versions.

Trace why Windows 8 boots, shutsdown or hibernates slowly
MagicAndre1981 replied to MagicAndre1981's topic in Windows 8
hmm, the trace says that the hibernation is written in 9.9s. So it should work. Starting with Vista, MS removed the progress bar during hibernation ,so you only see a black screen and after Windows wrote the data, the PC simply turn off. I think you have no issue.- 370 replies

MagicAndre1981 replied to MagicAndre1981's topic in Windows 7
to detect freezes you must create a dump of the complete system and analyze it with the Debugger, but this is very hard.- 1,284 replies

xbootmgr is only useful for detecting perf issues and not freezes. try a different PSU and look for a BIOS update- 1,284 replies

Long WinLogon init after upgrading from Windows 7
MagicAndre1981 replied to pagi4's topic in Windows 8
I think this is the issue. I've also seen slow Logontimes with a LiveAccount. -
yeah, thanks for the RC :thumbup btw, can you add the possibility to inject StartIsBack into a WIM? This would be awesome Btw, the resizing of the PNG doesn't work. I've tried it with the original Orb I've linked. I click on the PNG, but it is not added to the list of installed orbs.

the idea of the apps screen is that you only see apps. Disable the option and you can pin to it what ever you want to it
