  1. Open Explroer, go to C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319 and C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319, open a cmd prompt with admin rights and run ngen update
  2. Total = 489637 for module USBPORT.SYS Elapsed Time, > 512 usecs AND <= 1024 usecs, 1, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 1024 usecs AND <= 2048 usecs, 0, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 2048 usecs AND <= 4096 usecs, 4, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 4096 usecs AND <= 8192 usecs, 2, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 8192 usecs AND <= 16384 usecs, 5, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 16384 usecs AND <= 32768 usecs, 10, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 32768 usecs AND <= 65536 usecs, 3, or 0.00% Total, 489637 Total = 598860 for module ndis.sys Elapsed Time, > 1024 usecs AND <= 2048 usecs, 0, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 2048 usecs AND <= 4096 usecs, 3, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 4096 usecs AND <= 8192 usecs, 1, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 8192 usecs AND <= 16384 usecs, 3, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 16384 usecs AND <= 32768 usecs, 4, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 32768 usecs AND <= 65536 usecs, 1, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 65536 usecs AND <= 131072 usecs, 1, or 0.00% Total, 598860 Total = 579 for module netbt.sys Elapsed Time, > 1024 usecs AND <= 2048 usecs, 1, or 0.17% Elapsed Time, > 2048 usecs AND <= 4096 usecs, 17, or 2.94% Elapsed Time, > 4096 usecs AND <= 8192 usecs, 0, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 8192 usecs AND <= 16384 usecs, 1, or 0.17% Elapsed Time, > 16384 usecs AND <= 32768 usecs, 1, or 0.17% Total, 579 there are also NDIS.sys and netbt.sys spikes. Those are both also caused by chrome when you transfer data. Try to connect the GlobeTrotter GI1505 to a different USBport.
  3. @ Southpaw the PC boot slowly, because the mscorsvw.exe causes a high CPU usage. Looks like you've installed a .net update. Let Windows finish the work (or run ngen update from the normal and x64 .net 4.5 folder) and next boot it should be faster.
  4. refresh renews Windows so that it is stable again. The refresh removes all desktop applications, so you have to reinstall them. This blog post tells you everything: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2012/01/04/refresh-and-reset-your-pc.aspx
  5. you have USBport spikes: Total = 290022 for module USBPORT.SYS Elapsed Time, > 512 usecs AND <= 1024 usecs, 5, or 0.00% Elapsed Time, > 1024 usecs AND <= 2048 usecs, 29, or 0.01% Elapsed Time, > 2048 usecs AND <= 4096 usecs, 243, or 0.08% Elapsed Time, > 4096 usecs AND <= 8192 usecs, 26, or 0.01% Elapsed Time, > 8192 usecs AND <= 16384 usecs, 18, or 0.01% Elapsed Time, > 16384 usecs AND <= 32768 usecs, 21, or 0.01% Elapsed Time, > 32768 usecs AND <= 65536 usecs, 6, or 0.00% Total, 290022 Looks like your GlobeTrotter GI1505 - Modem Interface seams to cause it. Update the driver.
  6. The boot prefetcher shows a lot of misses with all the tools I mentioned. Best is to use Refresh (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc) Windows 8 which kills all desktop applications. Now only install the desktop tools you really need and not those buggy crap applications.
  7. the delays happen because of: 1st: RequestCredentials takes 11s. So enter the password faster and if you use a LiveID/MS Account,make sure you have Internet Access so that the PW gets validated faster. 2nd: you run too many tools at startup. Remove useless tools like Vit Registry Fix, Revo Uninstaller, Soluto, Eusing Free Registry Cleaner, Find Junk Files, Auslogics Disk Defrag and System Ninja. You use so much crap tools which only damage your PC.
  8. the ACPI is only called because the CPU temperature is too high. Try Speedfan and try to change the speed of your CPU fan: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php Does this improve the situation?
  9. Zip is a file format to reduce the file size: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zip_%28file_format%29 Install a tool like 7-zip, go to C:\temp and create a zip file of the file fastStartup_BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER_1.etl or boot_BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER_1.etl (depending if you tarced the old school or the news fast Boot)
  10. Stardock now released a tool which should be part of Windows 8: http://www.stardock.com/products/modernmix/features.asp
  11. Use Speedfan and increase the cpu cooler fan speed to reduce the temperature. Does this improve it? If not, zip the ETL file and upload the zip (skydrive, dropbox) and send me a link.
  12. zip the ETL file and upload the zip (skydrive, dropbox) and send me a link.
  13. http://www.zdnet.com/five-reasons-why-windows-8-has-failed-7000012104/
  14. ISR/DPC activity is normal if you transfer data. What are the issue you have? Do you have audio/video drops?
  15. if the keyboard doesn't respond, you have a hardware issue.
  16. Nice to hear that you fixed it yes, long kernel shutdown times can be caused by overriding the pagefile.
  17. check the temperature of your laptop CPU while you get the issue. ACPI.sys looks which issue do you have? Do you have glitches? the data show that you don't have large spikes. do you also use a laptop? What is the temperature?
  18. you don't have large DPC(ISR spikes. Total = 436539 Elapsed Time, > 0 usecs AND <= 1 usecs, 18935, or 4.34% Elapsed Time, > 1 usecs AND <= 2 usecs, 18621, or 4.27% Elapsed Time, > 2 usecs AND <= 4 usecs, 19878, or 4.55% Elapsed Time, > 4 usecs AND <= 8 usecs, 84569, or 19.37% Elapsed Time, > 8 usecs AND <= 16 usecs, 113490, or 26.00% Elapsed Time, > 16 usecs AND <= 32 usecs, 122574, or 28.08% Elapsed Time, > 32 usecs AND <= 64 usecs, 23956, or 5.49% Elapsed Time, > 64 usecs AND <= 128 usecs, 31902, or 7.31% Elapsed Time, > 128 usecs AND <= 256 usecs, 2573, or 0.59% Elapsed Time, > 256 usecs AND <= 512 usecs, 41, or 0.01% Total, 436539 at the time when you get this HAL.dll usage, it is a bit USBPort.sys usage. So it looks like you transfer data to USB devices, probably because of your TP-LINK Wireless USB Adapter which sends data. You can try to get newer drivers.
  19. the ETL is damaged. Don't run LatencyMon the same you you use xperf.
  20. also someone who likes the RP theme more compared to the ugly RTM theme
  21. the explorer uses some CPU usage to display overlay icons. PromptService64.exe and PromptService.exe (5280) scan the registry for data. that are the top3 programs which causes a high CPU usage. Next you run 3 AV tools (Windows Security Essentials , McAfee and COMODO). Only use 1 and remove the 2 others! Use AutoRuns to stop all tools that you don't really need all the time.
  22. follow this guide and give me the file:
  23. you still only get the temporary files Do a CleanBoot and try to eliminate all 3rd party tools until you can shutdown faster: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us
  24. upload it to your skydrive, dropbox account and post a link here.
