So my guess is, that Windows 7 decided, Superfetch is not needed.
  2. upload the disk XML
  3. can you upload the XML from the WI test? And, use the integrated defrag tool and not 3rd party tools. Follow my guide, this starts the internal defrag tool which places the files based on the layout.ini and aslo trains the prefetcher too boot faster.
  4. ok, your Windows takes 21s to boot to the desktop and 49s to boot completely. PreSMSS" startTime="0" endTime="4731" duration="4731"> this is fast. detecting each IDEChannel takes 1 second. ATI RADEON III (Standard VGA Graphics Adapter) WinlogonInit" startTime="12571" endTime="19320" duration="6748"> this takes a bit too long. As you can read here, this can be caused by AntiVirus tools. I can see that you use MSE and it causes IO activity. Try version 2.0 of MSE which was released today. It has performance improvements for low spec systems like yours. interval name="ExplorerInit" startTime="19320" endTime="21305" duration="1984"> this is also ok. ="PostExplorerPeriod" startTime="21305" endTime="59705" duration="38400"> Starting all programs at startup (Acronis, MSE) takes too long (28 seconds) But the boot is very good for such an old system (INTEL®_PENTIUM®_4_CPU_2.80GHZ, 2GB RAM).
  5. ok, so you have the cause. The WEI Score is too high. Do you see an improvement when Superfetch is on?
  6. the superfetch service is stopped when the WEI detects a fast Disk (SSD). Some users had this with Parallels Desktop under MacOSX. The WEI score had a 6.0 for the HDD and so superfetch was disabled.
  7. don't do it. It runs too slowly.
  8. Do you run them AHCI or IDE mode? I'm also using an older IDE drive for my backups and I have no issue under Windows 7.
  9. use the AVG Free version use MSE 2.0. try it without the HDD and see what happens.
  10. The ndis.sys is using very often high DPC usage. Do you use the latest drivers for your wireless adapter? (Linksys WMP600N Wireless-N PCI Adapter with Dual-Band, Intel® 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection) Also update AVG. Why do you still use AVG8? Does the high CPU usage also occurs when you disconnect the WD 10EAVS External USB Device? I can see that the USBport.sys has some impact.
  11. can you undo this and use the old ones? IDE = the old 40pin parallel connection cable.
  12. in the readyboot folder there are which which are used too prefetch the files which are used in later boot progress. Windows decides which files will be prefetch. You can't change this.
  13. upload it to mediafire or rapidshare.com and send my the link per PM
  14. The files in the 2 folder \windows\prefetcher\ and \windows\prefetcher\readyboot are part of the prefetcher (ReadyBoot). You have to run the xbootmgr on every PC again. The files are only valid for your PC.
  15. the ATAport.sys is 1 cause. Which IDE/ATAPI drive do you still use? have you installed all drivers from the ASUS page? the HDA driver tells you have an issue with your sound driver. Do you use the latest driver for your "ALC 892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC"? the ndis.sys is part of network. Do you use the Realtek® 8111E Gigabit LAN controller? Are you using the latest driver?
  16. can you please zip and upload the etl file?
  17. the boot is now fine. Compare the values. Before the optimization the boot takes 35s to the desktop and 52s to boot completely. After running the optimization your Windows needs 16s to boot o the desktop and 21s to boot completely. This is a huge improvement
  18. compare this too Vista and the list is much, much smaller Most of your things you like were done with Vista and "tweaked" in Windows 7 a bit to make the mass of people happy.

  21. this is correct. Standard suers have no 2 tokens, so <RunLevel>HighestAvailable</RunLevel> is user rights adnd you get the UAC prompt. This workaround only works for users which are part of the admin group.
  22. install it to get the files, after creating the Super-Beta remove IE9 again.
  23. here an example of a collision of an old ATI USB adapter. this user also bought a new PCI USB2 card and it solved the issues.
