MagicAndre1981 replied to gorlienz's topic in Windows 7
make 2 Registry snapshots with RegShot or Windows System State Analyzer and compare them. So you can see which registry setings are changed. -

Trace Windows 7 boot/shutdown/hibernate/standby/resume issues
MagicAndre1981 replied to MagicAndre1981's topic in Windows 7
do the old approach: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 to check which 3rd party tool causes it. I can see a lot of driver delays but I can't see what they do (only shows UNKNOWN)- 1,284 replies

I solved it by removing a hotfix which updated the Winresume.exe -
if you don't need MUIs, Bitllocker, DirectAccess or VHD boot and other things you can buy the Win7 x64 Prof edition.

How to replace explorer.exe and ExplorerFrame.dll?
MagicAndre1981 replied to Orsi's topic in Customizing Windows
this tool changes the exe. I use this tool: http://www.coderforlife.com/projects/utilities/#expstart to replace the orb and without modifying the explorer.exe -

there is no real slipstraming for Office 2007 updates. The only way is to put the MSP files in the update folder.

The DPC and Interrupts are fine. CPU usage is small and the hihgest spikes are 128-256µs which is fine. But I can see that the Audiodg.exe (Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation) causes 25% usage. This may cause the sound issues. I can see that the function AudioEng.Dll!CAudioFormatConvert::ConvertInt24WideToFloat32 is the cause. I can also see that the CTAFX.DLL is involved. this file belongs to your Creative SB X-Fi. The FX in the driver name let me think that this DLL has something to do with Effects. Do you run Starcraft with EAX? If yes disable it in SF2 and also disable the audio enhancements in Windows 7: http://technicallyeasy.net/2010/09/how-to-disable-audio-enhancements-windows-7/ Does this make a difference?

Trace Windows 7 boot/shutdown/hibernate/standby/resume issues
MagicAndre1981 replied to MagicAndre1981's topic in Windows 7
I checked both and I think it has something to do with the HDD/Disk IO activity hiberread="10115000" resume="74737000"> it takes long 10s to read the hibernation file. Than the 60s gap occurs. When you open the etl with the viewer you can see a lot of driver delays. I dumped the driver delays into a text file and saw that the IAStorDataMgrSvc.exe/ (intel storage), NclUSBSrv.exe ( Nokia USB Media Server/PC Connectivity Solution) reads data during resume. Can you stop this Nokia software and disconnect your Nokia E52 while doing the hibernation?- 1,284 replies

I don't understand your question. For x64 Vista/7 you need different updates compared to the 32Bit version. For Office 2010 this is the same. Large Excel and Access files can benefit from x64. For normal users you can stay at the 32Bit Office until all 3rd party software vendors update their addons to support the 64Bit version.

you need the special x64 Office 2010 updates. The 32Bit updates don't work.
