  1. only xbootmgr did it, Windows ALWAYS uses all cores. http://www.withinwindows.com/2008/08/09/tweaking-myth-increase-boot-performance-for-multi-core-users-with-msconfig/ @Marian run sfc /Scannow to detect and fix missing Windows files.

    WIM filter?

yes, vLite needs the Vista WAIK and the driver to mount the WIM.
  3. correct, this is not good. You should see .pf files in the prefetch folder. What are the values of the EnableSuperfetch and EnablePrefetcher under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters? Both should be set to 3.
  4. go to the C:\Windows\prefetch folder. Do you see files there or is the folder empty?
  5. Do you use a 64Bit Windows and the 32Bit Office 2010? In this case look in the registry under the Wow6432Node hive. 32bit apps are listed there.
  6. I think the msp is only accessed if you remove the Sp1. Updates have their own msp file. Try it out in a VM and let me know the result. I haven't tried it.
  7. I checked the trace. The boot is slow because the ReadyBoot prefetcher is completely untrained. Make a double click and look at the readyBoot IO graph. It is mostly black, which means there are cache misses. This is very bad. The TOSHIBA MK2555GSX 250GB 5400rpm Hard Drive is not the fastest so a fully working Prefetcher is really needed to have a fast Windows boot. I can see that the Windows is Windows 7 RTM. So install the Sp1 + all post Sp1 Updates. Now try it again, please.
  8. delete the uninstall entry from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete the corresponding MSI/MSP from the folder C:\Windows\Installer
  9. Which Windows 7 do you use? Sp1 or RTM? Is it a clean DVD or a recovery DVD from an OEM?
  10. no. Use a DVD-RW if you don't want to waste a complete DVD.
  11. no, this is not possible. You can run the Sp1 installer silently after installing Office 2010.
  12. do the same what I told the other user. Run a xperf trace and give me the files. @universalbloggers MS released a newer version of MSE. Try it again, maybe the new version is better.
  13. Still no reply. If you still have the 90day free support start a support case
  14. Happy Birthday cluberti thanks for helping all people here so much!
  15. mount the WIM change the icon here: C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar and you have the updated icon in all user accounts.
  16. right click on the Explorer icon, select properties and change the icons like you did with shortcuts.
  17. yes, but the HPC Sp is a Sp for the HPC software, not the kernel.
  18. post the last session.ini and the pending.xml from the WinSxS folder of the vLite ISO
  19. HPC Sp != Win 7 Service Pack. This only fixes bugs with the HPC software.
  20. Run ProcessMonitor and enable the boot looging inside ProcMon. Now run the xbiitmgr command again. After the reboot run ProcMon and stop the logging and save the log as a PML. Now zip the PML and the ETL and upload both.
  21. yes, all Vista/7 Updates (MSU) are language neutral
  22. You're welcome. Post again if the issue is back.
