ok - brand new pc!! wont go to screen saver even tho as far as i can see its all set up properly and has a 10min waiting time!!! also when i go to put it into standby mode all it does is comes up with screen that says "preparing to shutdown" then just wont do anything - i have to reset it!! im running windows xp by the way!!

i hope i have posted in the right section........ when i'm at work the network router block's certain site's and then we have to ask the IT guy for access to them, problem is if your not the IT guy's buddy or doing him any favour's then you got NO chance, my question is: IS THERE ANY WAY AROUND THIS, LIKE SHORTCUT KEYS, CHANGING SETTING'S IN IE PUTTING CODES IN BEFORE WEB ADRESSES, any sort of help would be appreciated
