hey everyone, I've read on a few topics that people replace their Windows XP system files, as other operating system files are more efficient or don't have as many security flaws. If someone could give me a link to a very relevent topic or even tell me what files are best be replaced then please go ahead! I have copies of all Windows versions, so getting the files is not a problem. Title edited -- Please, use [TAGS] in your topic's title. Please follow XP Forum Rules from now on. --Sonic

[Question] How to password a dir or block it from searches?
zedox replied to Mikep7779's topic in Windows XP
If say I set up a new user called ... Bob, and set it with a password as Bob2one Then, could i deny all access to all users on a directory. And only allow access for bob... Logon as another user and if i try to access that directory, have a userlogin box popup to allow me to enter Bob's details? -
Precisely how I’d like it... Obviously I’m not that bothered about this, but would be nice to have it all tidy.

Is it possible to make an unattended installation to create the windows directory using lower caps? I've tried "Windows" in the winnt.sif, didn't work.

zedox replied to zedox's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
OK cool, I've tested it using cmd.exe on a running version of Windows. It seems to work with backslashs, so I'll try the UA disc ona test machine now. Cheers. -
Calling a reg file from cmdlines.txt
zedox replied to zedox's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Its bizarre, as i call my .cmd file from a folder too. this is my cmdlines.txt [COMMANDS] "REGEDIT /S Registry Tweaks/RegistryTweaks.reg" "Batch Tweaks/RunOnceEx.cmd" The RunOnceEx.cmd runs fine, but RegistryTweaks.reg doesn't work. @Nepali I can't see how posting whats in my .cmd file would be of any help. -
Hey, I want my cmdlines.txt file to call a registry file from a folder on the cd... what code do i need to make this happen? The reg file is called RegistryTweaks.reg and is located ina folder called "Registry Tweaks" within the $OEM$ folder on my UA CD. "REGEDIT /s Registry Tweaks/RegistryTweaks.reg" Doesnt work.

[QUESTION] How Do I add Security Tab to File Properties?
zedox replied to zedox's topic in Windows XP
Wicked! Cheers fellas... had a horible feeling you'd say it wasn't possible. I tracked down the registry setting using RegShot too... Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa] "forceguest"=dword:00000000 -
How Do I add Security Tab to File Properties? When my machine is in safemode I can change security settings on folders and files. But in normal mode that option is not available... Surely theres a setting or reg tweak to enable it? Cheers...
