  1. It's weird, my xp install, i used nlite to change my docs and settings folder name to users...
  2. The component cache is already listed in the current version o vLite (0.9) that it can be removed... Only thing is it is causing major system instabilities with some people, and windows update doesnt work with it removed.
  3. I followed the Microsofts support doc for WAIK, and compiled a basic autounattended.xml file... placed it on a floppy disc. Inserted the windows Vista disc into the master computer along with the floppy... Nothing was unattended, everything came up as usual requiring my input. Where do you think I've gone wrong... I can post the xml if needed.
  4. Afternoon all, basically i stick a disc in the drive and then copy an avi from the disc to hard drive... some times it copies half way then will stop claiming it can't read the disc. yet if i do this in XP it works fine... Has anyone else come across this before? if so is there a solution or another method?
  5. Do we have to put the unattended file on a removable storage? Can't it be read from the actual disc?
  6. i once paid someone for a mobile phone, £150... never came through. I threatend to report them to paypal to recover my funds, they sent me a cheque for £150. It CASHED! By this time I had waited for ages and had already started proceeding with the paypal complaint... that succeeded too and I got another £150 back... he never contacted me again, and he ended up £150 down rather than me.
  7. I changed the icons in the wmplayer.exe file the icons on the start menu and quick launch for media player has changed... But opening the media player the icon in the top left corner of the screen is the vista media player one.
  8. Resource hacker is great for changing icons and such...
  9. could someone update the link on first post... seems to point to reference documents not WinPE2.0 insatllation, as the post states...
  10. http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=76163 WAIK for X86 Download. 164MB
  11. you havn't burnt your disc correctly.. Try using some software that lets you burn images to discs... You cant just put the image as a file onto the disc. I use Nero to burn my CD image to a disc...
  12. Has anyone found a method of changing the Icons for the Media Player in Vista... I've changed mine to what they look like in XP, but within the Media Player itself it still using that Horrible bluey orange icon.
  13. I would imagine the icons would be specific to the game... IE: If you;ve installed battlefield 2 and that logo is coming up in the game explorer as 32x32 all distorted.. I'd locate the icon file or even the exe for the game in that games installation directory and edit it using resource hacker.
  14. I know this would require a fair bit of registry scripts but how about vlite allowing us to choose what fonts we want out of a list of 5 or 10?
  15. What does the structure of your Windows\Resources directory look like? is there a Luna folder? With contents?
  16. Can you check that the CD burned correctly? Check the contents... Generally this comes up if it can't actually boot from the disc and there isn't anything else to boot from, IE Hard Drive.
  17. I downloaded the trial version of Office 2007 Professional from the M$ site. Open up the installation, clicked install. About half way through it says it can't find file ProrWW.cab If you click retry it just tries and fails, click cancel and the whole setup gets cancelled. I re-downloaded it from M$ 2 more times to eliminate a faulty download. I ran the extraction switch on the downloaded executable... /extract:### I checked the location where i extracted it to, ran setup and still fails with same error. Checked the extracted locations files, and the file is where it is supposed to be. Delved a bit deeper into the MD5 hashing of that file and the reference made to this in a setup.xml file. It appears the MD5 number listed in the setup.xml file is different to what the ProrWW.cab is reporting. I edited the xml file to match, but setup won't even start now. I copied the original setup.xml file back and setup does begin but obviously still fails with same problem. I'm guessing I could just wait until microsoft realises this problem. But in the mean time if any one knows how to change an MD5 number on an actual file? Or maybe how to edit an xml file and save it but without it changing the MD5 number?

  19. I assumed it was modifype problem aswel... I extracted the opuc.dll from the opuc.dl_ file, and tried to run modifype on it... it didnt work. I copied opuc.dll to an xp pc and ran modifype on it, it worked. Copied it back, cabbed it back up and hey presto the install works.
  20. I've now installed vista, i'm trying to run HFSLIP on my XP source. It says "you are advised to run HFSLIp with administrator priveledges" of which I have. When I create an image of SOURCES and burn it, install it, comes up with error couldn't copy OPUC.DLL during text setup. Never had this when using HFSLIP on XP...
  21. Has Media Center support been dropped now?
  22. I have no problems with handing out the resources... in fact, you can get to the resources with xpize. I only compressed it as im a space saving freek, the file was 2 and a bit meg before compression... now its less than half a meg!
  23. Based on eyeball's question, is it possible to have ALL folders display icons in medium view? This kinda has the XP feel to it.
