I would first remove the space from your HFSLIP working folder (change it into "HFSLIP_XP" or something), remove the SOURCE folder and create it again. If that doesn't help, try again but on Windows XP (you are now running HFSLIP on Windows Server 2003 according to your log file). I never experienced this problem myself and you're the first to report it in the HFSLIP forum...

When do you intend to remove the Windows Media binaries from HFEXPERT\CODECS? The problem file is WMASF.DLL, but I wouldn't be surprised if other WM binaries in there will cause similar incompatibilities: Updated by WMP11: qasf.dll (updated again by windowsmedia11-kb939209-x86-intl.exe) wmadmod.dll wmsdmod.dll wmspdmod.dll wmvdmod.dll No longer used with WMP11: WMV9VCM.dll

I added four pages to the HFSLIP site in the "Guidelines" section: Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP SP2 Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Time zone updates Flash Player ActiveX for Internet Explorer That should clear some confusion

Could there be some localized versions? I tested this (English) package on XPSP2 English and XPSP2 Dutch and it's working fine with both. You can use the original Adobe swflash.cab in HFCABS if you're using the latest test release, or extract FP_AX_CAB_INSTALLER.exe from the original swflash.cab into HFSVCPACK using any version of HFSLIP. This doesn't really slipstream it but at least it works. Adobe's swflash.cab

You should be able to get most if not all of the registry changes from the INF file, making sure you use the SVR sections for Server and the WKS sections for Workstation. The only difficulty would be the FontSubstitutes sections which depend on the source language (which countries belong to Eastern Europe, Cyrillic and Baltic areas?). The time zones could use yet another update too. Incidentally... Are the NT4 binaries for IE6 (including the Windows Desktop Update) still available from the Microsoft server?

A search would've helped you because you're not the first person to ask this. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=101182

Thanks. Japanese added

If things are installed at first GUI logon, that is possible. Does the registry entry get removed at the next logon? And does the C:\WINDOWS\HFSLIP folder get deleted then too?

Right-click My Computer, choose Properties, click the Advanced tab and click the Environment Variables button. In the second section (System variables) double-click the variable named "Path". Type the following completely at the end of the input box for Variable Value, including the semi-colon: ;%SystemRoot%\system32 Click OK to save the change. Strange that this is the only thing missing...

Well... It had Pinball, hehe

First of all, the only difference concerning FIND.EXE in HFSLIP 1.7.1 compared to previous versions is that HFSLIP now checks if it's present. Nothing else. For the rest, HFSLIP 1.7.1 is just using it just like previous versions of HFSLIP did. From what I can see in your screenshots, you're using a heavily modified Windows 2000. Either the files that HFSLIP needs are not the Microsoft originals, or your system no longer has the %PATH% variable configured.

There's nothing wrong with the Spanish Show Desktop shortcut. I noticed recently that some special characters (not all) get lost when using FIND.EXE to copy the "ShowDesktop" string from SHELL.INF into another file. If I copy the entire content of SHELL.INF into another file (using TYPE.EXE), these characters don't get lost. Since I don't have a Spanish Windows XP source, I couldn't tell if there were no problems with the Spanish "ShowDesktop" string so I decided to let HFSLIP 1.7.1 copy the entire SHELL.INF content for Spanish sources just to be on the safe side. Thanks to [~Ga$h~], I now know that the Spanish string is fine too. Example of a problem: The Polish "Pokaż pulpit.scf" becomes "Pokaz pulpit.scf" (the ż becomes a z). And the Japanese string becomes a series of question marks.

I don't know if this thread is still that important. I'll probably keep it alive, but you should know that MS have finally updated the "standalone" installer to include the binaries from April 2007. I tested it on a Dutch Windows XP and Windows Update accepts it.
-
I'm probably sounding like an... behind... but... that doesn't really bring anything new. Every slipstreaming tutorial talks about slipstreaming SP6a, but then at the end they sneakily mention that you still need to apply SP6a separately after Windows installed. There just gotta be a better way...
-
What Arie said. And please use HFSLIP 1.7.1...
-
If that is the correct name then there are no problems. HFSLIP 1.7.2rc3 doesn't use the complete SHELL.INF anymore for Hungarian. Thanks
-
OK. Glad you got it fixed
-
HFSLIP 1.7.1 and newer copy the whole content of SHELL.INF into a new INF file to create the Show Desktop shortcut for Hungarian sources. HFSLIP 1.7.0 and earlier versions took only two lines from SHELL.INF but this appeared to be problematic for languages which have special characters in the "Show Desktop" string. I don't have an Hungarian source at hand to test, so I assumed the Hungarian SHELL.INF also has special characters in the translated "Show Desktop" string and decided Hungarian to be part of the list of languages for which the whole SHELL.INF content should be used. The point of my comment in the initial post in this thread is to find out if HFSLIP 1.7.0 was able to create the Show Desktop shortcut for Czech, Hungarian and Turkish sources when slipstreaming IE7 with its name correctly spelled. If things were fine with HFSLIP 1.7.0, I want to avoid copying the full content of SHELL.INF into the new INF file for these languages.

Added Portuguese Brazilian and Turkish -- thanks. The list was moved to the HFSLIP web site.

the_guy already posted the English link in that thread 4 days ago. Thanks anyway
-
HFSLIP doesn't slipstream the time zone updates. Please use the "4th cumulative time zone update" extension. As for KB944653... Can you ZIP your HFSLIP.LOG file and attach it here?
-
Thanks.BTW, why are they using "ESP" here instead of "ESN"? With correct spelling? That update is not supported by HFSLIP in exe format.

Web page updated. @willydejoe1234 Please read the first post. It's really simple...
