Closed for the same reason mentioned several times in the HFSLIP forum. Please read my last post in the SNM thread.

All files look fine. Sorry... I'm clueless.

WindowsXP-KB898543-v3-x86-ENU.exe updates these files: explorer.exe input.dll intl.cpl msobmain.dll win32k.sys But with a non-English source, HFSLIP will only slipstream msobmain.dll which is the file that's needed to revive the post-setup wizard. WindowsXP-KB894871-x86-XXX.exe can be used instead. I'm using it too. When slipstreaming WindowsXP-KB894871-x86-XXX.exe, it is only useful to slipstream WindowsXP-KB898543-v3-x86-ENU.exe too if your source is English.

Thanks. Main post updated.

By opening a command prompt (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt) and running this command:chkdsk c: /r (assuming that your HFSLIP working folder is still on drive C:) You will be asked to do this at the next reboot if your system is installed on drive C:. When that is finished (may take a while if your hard disk is large), remove the SOURCE folder and copy over the CD again. The files you attached last are fine. I just realized I forgot to ask to include HFSLIPWU.INF too, so if you can...

It looks like there's a newer version of KB905474 from April 2007. If you install it through Windows Update, you can find it back in WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download. This newer version is only supported with HFSLIP 1.7.1rc8 or newer. BTW... If you're up to it, please look in WindowsUpdate.log (WINDOWS folder) for the download link and post it here.
-
The purpose of this thread is to collect the download locations for the latest KB905474 update that Windows Update wants you to have and to display them here. If your language isn't shown, simply let Windows Update install the update. Then search for "KB905474" inside WindowsUpdate.log (in the WINDOWS folder) and post the link in this thread. If you let Windows Update install KB905474, you can find it in WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download without the long GUID, so you don't need to download it again. Just copy it into the HF folder. Note: This update is only supported with HFSLIP 1.7.1 or newer.

7.0.5730.13 is the version from the main IE7 package, which means ieframe.dll didn't get updated at T-13. I suppose you still have ieframe2.dll in the SYSTEM32 folder.Your problem is even more severe than I thought. The change from ieframe2.dll to ieframe.dll is done from HFSLIP.CMD. HFSLIP.CMD is called from SVCPACK.INF, so the registry is not involved in this. In other words: SVCPACK.INF failed to run. Can you compress SVCPACK.INF and SYSOC.IN_ from SOURCESS\I386 and HFSLIP.CMD from SOURCESS\I386\SVCPACK into a ZIP package and upload it here? If these files turn out to be OK, I can only conclude that your source is corrupted. The odds that HFSLIP would break nearly everything there is to break are really slim...

It is: "Windows Genuine Advantage" in the section "Downloading from Microsoft web sites (for Windows)". The file is called LegitCheckControl.cab. Thanks. I have updated the link. Someone else just reported a problem with it too. I need to check it out because it used to work (the original). You need the latest LegitCheckControl.cab. The LegitCheckControl.dll file in the KB905474 package is still dated February 2007 while the one in the most recent LegitCheckControl.cab package is from last month. HFSLIP doesn't support the time zone updates directly because special characters aren't parsed correctly. You can use the 4th cumulative time zone update plugin for HFSLIP but be advised that it contains the 4th cumulative time zone update from December 2007 while Windows Update still wants you to have the 3rd cumulative time zone update for the time being. They will probably update Windows Update with it tomorrow -- if not, on the 8th of January. I suggest you use this utility instead if you want to make sure everything is covered.

The time zone updates haven't been supported directly by HFSLIP for a while now because special characters are not interpreted correctly. I made a time zone plugin for HFSLIP which is always updated with the latest cumulative time zone update settings. The only problem is that there is always a delay between the time that Microsoft release a new cumulative time zone update, and the time that Windows Update wants you to have it. KB933360 is the third cumulative time zone update (from August 2007) but the latest version is the fourth cumulative time zone update (December 2007). So even if you slipstream my time zone plugin (which contains the 4th cumulative update), Windows Update will complain. You can work around this by changing a value in the Windows Registry after installation but you'll have to change it back when Windows Update finally supports it. Personally, I would include the plugin and just ignore the update that appears on Windows Update; it will go away by itself after some time. I need to test the problem with KB905474. It is still the same version (from February 2007) and HFSLIP has always supported it.

I have checked this out a bit more. If the problem is really with ieframe.dll, I don't think it's a problem with the file itself (at least in the slipstreaming context). This file is in English for every IE7 package so everyone should have your problem in that situation. I think there's only two possibilities left. I'll start with the one that's easiest to test... When slipstreaming IE7, ieframe.dll is supposed to be registered from a RunOnceEx key at T-13. You are clearly having problems with RunOnce(Ex) so it's possible that this registration never took place. Open a Run prompt on the newly installed system and execute the following commands, one at a time: regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer\ieproxy.dll" regsvr32 /i /n ieframe.dll regsvr32 actxprxy.dll Click OK on each message box that appears (succeeded or failed). After that, reboot and try again. The second possibility is a problem with ieframe.dll.mui. What is the version of ieframe.dll and of ieframe.dll.mui in the system32 folder?
-
This "bug" has always been there. If you use DOS to echo a line of text into a file, a blank line is created below it. If another line of text is echoed into the file, the text will be placed on the blank line and a blank line is created below that -- etc.

Oops... I posted the wrong link in my previous post. Should be correct now. You can find the download link for the Win2K SP4 Support Tools update itself in the same thread. Please remove the HFSLIP_PRE_KB838079.CMD plugin as it's for the WinXP SP2 Support Tools.

OK. Forget about the GUILOGON problem for now. The ieframe.dll issue is more important. Please unset IE7GUILOGON in HFANSWER.INI (remove the "1") and run HFSLIP 1.7.1rc7 (new version). Test with DELAY_IEFRAME=1 in HFANSWER.INI. Hopefully that resolves the problem.
-
A few things... First off, just double-click HFSLPGUI.CMD. This should get IE7 installed. After the reboot, see if you have the problem with ieframe.dll. This is only to test ieframe.dll. For your next runs, you can already make a few preparations... Remove CMDOW.EXE from the HFTOOLS folder and replace it with cWnd.exe (download link is in the first post). CMDOW can be blocked by certain anti-virus programs and this could be part of the problem. Also remove these: WindowsXP-KB925876-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB931261-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-ENU.exe And replace them with these: WINDOWSXP-KB925876-X86-CHT.EXE WindowsXP-KB931261-x86-CHT.exe WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-CHT.exe If you run HFSLIP again, please use version 1.7.1rc6.
-
Are you talking about the update rollup? It's on our update lists. Search for KB891861-v2. KB904368 is replaced by KB891861-v2 (so do you have the update rollup or not?) and KB926121 doesn't update any files.
-
Well *something* removed it, and it sure wasn't HFSLPGUI.CMD otherwise the HFSLIP folder would no longer exist. I'm completely in the dark now. The only thing I can suggest is that you remove XPize as well as everything in HFSVCPACK/HFSVCPACK_SW1/HFSVCPACK_SW2/HFGUIRUNONCE.
-
Possible culprits: 1) You are specifying DELCATS=1 in HFANSWER.INI 2) A problem in Windows Vista 3) The cumulative update for IE7 is borked (not a problem you can fix)
-
Is .NET 3.5 installed? If so, remove the executable from the HFSLIP folder and reboot. It may be that it's interfering. Also, check in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce that you still have an entry named HFSLIPGUI.
-
Open the registry and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup. See that the data for SystemSetupInProgress is 0 and not 1. If it's 1, change it to 0 and reboot.
-
If you got no error messages during Windows setup, that can only mean Windows is still reporting itself as being "in setup". Does the HFSLIP folder still exist in the WINDOWS folder?
-
Can you tell me what you removed from WINNT.SIF? If not, you can send it in a PM.
-
It's a Nullsoft installer... I repacked it. You can download it here. Contents: Flash9e.ocx FlashUtil9e.exe swflash.inf Trying to work with the updated package from Adobe, I finally figured out the reason why registration of the OCX fails with the recent versions: the FlashUtil*.exe needs to be present alongside the OCX for that. The next version of HFSLIP will slipstream this file too. swflash.inf registers the OCX and adds a few other necessary registry changes.
-
It's not supported. Thanks for the tip.
