  1. This isn't really the forum for these questions but I'll answer them anyway... What registry files are you talking about? Do you mean the hive files (eg. HIVESFT.INF)? The files in that post should be used after you nLite your CD. Just follow the instructions for each file.
  2. Even easier: Just download the UXTHEME.DL_ file from here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=23589 Just place it on the CD overwtiting the original one.
  3. I was able to enable APM using the following INF file (or you could convert it to a reg file if you so desire): [APM.AddReg] ; Enable Advanced Power Management. HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ApmActive",Active,%REG_DWORD%,%ON% HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\Current\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ROOT\NTAPM\0000" HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\NTAPM\0000",ConfigFlags,%REG_DWORD%,%OFF% HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\NTAPM\0000\Control",ActiveService,%REG_SZ%,"NtApm" Note: This is Windows XP SP2 for anyone who is interested.
  4. The hacked uxtheme.dll file doesn't use any more resource than the unpatched one does. Some themes will use more resources (it varies based on there complexity). You will not need any more cracks and each should run without problems.
  5. I'd like to know this to. I'm using Windows XP SP2 final. I haven't tried the registry file yet. I'm going to try that now. I will post and let you know how it went. Edit: I don't think you need the ControlSet001 lines.
  6. Good work on putting this together. For the tcpip.sys file, if anyone is searching for the original thread on this, here it is here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=22640 Note: Towards the end, the unlimited version of the file is available (same as the one here though, I think).
  7. Both files are required to disable WFP.
  8. lol... I couldn't be bothered fighting like this. I know what I've done is my work and I'm right not to have to credit anyone. I know it's my work and my friends know it my work (most don't even care). hehe... thanks Mr. Annonymous for the support though...
  9. @prathapml: lol. It only happened once... After I put "SkipMissingFiles=Yes" BACK in the WINNT.SIF file it stopped... That's the only thing that changed. :S
  10. Let me explain how I came about the edit for SP2... (note: I didn't know it was TGTSoft's patches on SP1). I downloaded the patched uxtheme.dll for SP1. Found out what the edits were back then. I just assumed that that was how uxtheme.dll was patched. In SP2, I used trial and error to get the right hex edits to allow unsigned themes. If this just happens to be the same as what you and TGTSoft use, then sorry, but I didn't know they used the same edits. Coincidence I guess. And when was the other time I was using other peoples work as my own? I gave you credit in the first thread I did on sfc_os.dll for SP2, so I forgot in the next thread, big deal, I still gave you credit in the first place. Edit: As I said in the first place to you vorte[x], I don't really care about credits... I couldn't find this information easily in any other place so I put it here... It's mearly a public service... didn't know someone else did it the exact same way... so I don't see how credit is due.
  11. @Alanoll: Exactally. That's why P2P programs like eMule will slow down. BitTorrent will also slow down unless you can configure it to use multiple ports.
  12. The limit is on the number of connections that can be made to other computer via ONE port on your PC. For example, you can only have 10 connections at once going out of, say, port 1234. In SP1 you could get as many connections as possible, now you can only have 10 connections per port at the same time. This has NOTHING to do with Remote Desktop.
  13. So did I but I prefer not to humor this sort of thing. Thanks for the appreciation though. Makes doing this all the more worthwhile and fun.
  14. @parathapml: Hmm.. I wonder how I got the version mismatch then... Upon first boot I got the nView wizard so I know that part of the nVidia drivers were installed but going to the hardware manager revealed the "Microsoft Corporation" drivers were actually being used... I wonder how that could happen then... Any thoughts, 'cause I'm lost? Edit: Nevermind: It must be an nLite problem with SP2 because I removed DISPLAY ADAPTERS and yet it still installs the Microsoft one?!?! What the hell?!?!
  15. I can confirm that with Windows XP SP2 Final, the latest nVidia drivers WON'T install. Windows setup will do 1 of 2 things (seemingly random)... 1. It will install the Microsoft version of the driver. 2. It will install the Microsoft version of the driver and then the extra bits of the nVidia one (causing a version mismatch when trying to view nVidia settings). So either way, we're screwed until nVidia update their drivers... Only other option is to install it silently via RunOnceEx.
  16. The main reason I created that patch was to disable WFP so I could remove/overwrite some things at T-13 and at RunOnceEx. If you want to re-enable WFP, I would suggest enabling it via the registry edit at the end of RunOnceEx or first logon just before you restart the PC. That way, when you login the second time and start using your computer, WFP will be enabled again. 2 things to note about turning it back on though... 1. Most of the directories you can delete with WFP turned off will be RECREATED when you turn WFP back on. 2. Make sure you delete anything in the "C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache" directory first and eject your Windows CDROM. Otherwise, I think, the files will be overwritten again. I've never needed to re-enable WFP so I can't be for sure what side effects would occur when turning it back on. If you do turn it back on, please post again to let us know what happened.
  17. Re-attached SFC_OS.DL_ file with better compression (thanks RyanVM).
  18. No you didn't, you simply compared the original Uxtheme.dll to a patched Uxtheme.dll I don't have any patched uxtheme.dll files from anyone else. I only patched the SP2RC2 SFC_OS.DLL based on your files. The rest is my work. SP1 is the only file that I used someone elses file to hack. These SP2 hacks are entirely my work... Not a comparison of someone elses file. I'm sorry if this sounds a little abusive but I don't like my work being put down to me copying someone elses (especially when you have no proof).
  19. @visitor: The "SFCSetting" registry value should be set to "ffffff9d" if you want to disable WFP. The "SFCDisable" registry value is now useless (just there to trick Windows). Build 2179 isn't RTM by the way. It was going to be but they had to fix a few more little bugs and application compatibility. Build 2179, I think, will expire is 180 days.
  20. @RyanVM: Thanks for that. I will update the files when I can get a chance.
  21. @Bachus: There is a post here that edits the "sfcfiles" file to remove protected directories. You cannot do what you want to do with the "sfc_os.dll" file. @RyanVM: Yes the hive does need to be edited (or you can import the registry entry during "cmdlines". If you import the registry entry during "RunOnceEx", WFP won't be disabled until the second boot.
  22. @hajj_3: No you don't. Just copy the file to your CD, overwriting the old one. @SolidasRock: npz.
  23. TO THE ~100 DOWNLOADS, PLEASE REDOWNLOAD!!! I DIDN'T TEST MY HEX EDIT!!! The new version attached should work. Note: The old one WON'T work.
  24. It's all done. Just copy the file (from the first post) and overwrite the one on the XPSP2 CD. That's all you have to do.
