  1. Hello? I'm using the default Messenger from XP (4.7.3001). I'd like to delete the My Allow List in Tools > Options > Privacy. Can someone tell me how? Thanks.
  2. Hello? I'm using the default Windows Messenger out of the default XP install. The version of this Messenger is 4.7.3001. Quite an old one considering the current Messenger is 7. Is there a way to automatically upgrade the 4.7 to 7 from Messenger itself without downloading a separate install file? How about just updating the 4.7 without upgrading to 7? I carefully looked for an update/upgrade path within 4.7 but couldn't find one. I also hear that Messenger is quite easy to be sniffed at with some network sniffers. Is there a way to secure the Messenger from this security hole? Basically, I'm interested in knowing securing the Messenger. Thanks.
  3. Hi IcemanND, Thanks for your feedback. Well, the broken cable itself looks very alike to the standard floppy cable but has wider width. The tape drive itself has the pin-style connector. I actually tried using a regular standard floppy cable but the tape drive won't work. For your information, the broken cable used to work such that one end gets connected to the tape drive and the other end to the floppy connector on the system board. And, the actual floppy drive is connected to the middle connector (floppy) on the broken cable, and this middle connector is the part that's broken sadly. If I can make this tape drive working using a regular standard floppy cable somehow, that'll be wonderful. Regards,
  4. Hello? I'd like to resurrect my old 420 MB Conner Tape Drive that is connected to the floppy data cable. Tape drive's data cable is broken and I need to replace it. Does anyone know where I could get/order it? I tried to contact Seagate/Conner but being an obsolete device it is, they do not support this device anymore. Thanks.
  5. Hi firefoxthebomb and chilifrei64, Thanks for your feebacks. Well, actually, I've been post- poning the reboot by keep clicking on the "reboot later" button when the warning message had popped. But, I ended up rebooting after coming back from a hybernated state as the IE browser was acting weirdly
  6. Hi bhurtel, Thanks for your feedback. bhurtel, can you give me more details as to how I can use this "unlocker" program and where I can get it? Regards,
  7. Hello? I'm using WinXP-Home, and I just downloaded Windows security updates and completed the install. The system's asking me to reboot, but I'm in the middle of running an application that I want to keep it in its running state. If I reboot, that running application will not come back to its running state and I'm concerned about it. So, is there a way that I can reboot the system and come back to the present desktop setting with any running applications still running? Thanks.
  8. Hi Jito463, Thanks for your tip. That one just slipped off of me.
  9. Hi KJxp, Wonderful! Thanks for your clarification.
  10. Hi KJxp, Thanks for your feedback. I'll check out your freeware later. Actually, I'm more interested in resolving this issue within XP without any external helper application. So, in that aspect, here's the output from cacls command execution: c:\program files\xerox BUILTIN\Users:R BUILTIN\Users:(OI)(CI)(IO)(special access:) GENERIC_READ GENERIC_EXECUTE BUILTIN\Administrators:F BUILTIN\Administrators:(OI)(CI)(IO)F NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:F NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)(IO)F CREATOR OWNER:(OI)(CI)(IO)F Will this help? Wow, you can decipher this in plain English? Impressed! Regards,
  11. Hi all, Thanks for your feedbacks. KJxp, what's mstIsUsedBy? Is it available out of WinXP or some shareware? And, how do I use it? Oh, by the way, restarting hasn't made any difference.
  12. Hello? I'm using WinXP-Home. I'm trying to permanently delete a folder that appears empty with another empty subfolder, but I'm getting an error that says some user/ application is using the empty subfolder and cannot delete this folder. I've tried clearing the READ ONLY attribute but didn't help. What should I do to delete this folder? Thanks.
