  1. nlite does direct hotfix integration replacing existing files. i already told in my previous post u can use nlite. theres no prob replacing the dlls.
  2. did u make a search on this forum before posting? look for cdchanger or cdswitch in this forum.
  3. nice to hear. u have not used nlite as i can see. now for the vista style shell32.dll and explorer.exe, the following hotfixes modifies them if u install the hotfixes through svcpack.inf shell32.dll ------------ KB928255.exe KB921398.exe KB912919.exe KB908531.exe KB900725.exe KB896424.exe KB890859.exe Explorer.exe -------------- KB923191.exe KB884883.exe so first manually integrate the above hotfixes (or use nlite). if u manually integrate the above hotfixes, after integration, search for all the files which u r going to replace (shell32, explorer....) from i386 dir and delete them. this is because, after manual integration, some files would be expanded. so if u put vista style shell32.dl_, already expanded shell32.dll would be present there. now update ur working xp till the current hotfixes and apply vtp to ur existing xp and copy the required files from win dir (shell32, explorer, mydocs, netshell etc etc), makecab and put inside i386 dir of ur xp distribution. now for ur svcpack.inf, open the file from i386 and add the remaining hotfixes. sort all them in ascending order. but put 893803 as the first one.
  4. themexp.org mostly give us an installation file. if u want to make ur own boot and login files, first u have to make sure it works with ur version. to get into the safer side, extract the one from ur working OS and can modify them and add to ur distribution. Another advantage is that, in case any hotfix updates the kernel, u would be using the updated kernel if u extract from the system32 dir. copy the working ntoskrnl.exe and logonui.exe and open them in resource tuner. save the required bmp file u want to modify. ntoskrnl.exe -------------- open the saved bmp file in photoshop. do whatever changes like adding images, text etc and "DO NOT SAVE AS PSD FILE". simply save as bmp file without modifying the resolution or size or anything. finally replace this modified bmp file back in the ntoskrnl.exe using resource tuner. There is no problem with logonui as u can replace any image provide u retain the size of the picture. This is one of the simple ways to modify the ntoskrnl and logonui.
  5. i use glass2k for taskbar transparency and looks great for some wallpapers.
  6. instead, u can try installing the fonts and selecting them as default through runonceex. for example, first as i told u install them in ur working xp and export the reg key to Scheme.reg. place the cursor files in the $oem$ folder in ur distribution cd along with Scheme.reg and install.inf. Then install the fonts using the command : REG ADD %KEY%026 /VE /D "Adding My Cursors..." /f REG ADD %KEY%026 /V 1 /D "RunDll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %CDROM%\$OEM$\Appz\MyBlueGlass\Install.inf" /f modify the install.inf file with the cursor names u have. Install.inf [DefaultInstall] CopyFiles = Scheme.Cur AddReg = Scheme.Reg [DestinationDirs] Scheme.Cur = 10,"%CUR_DIR%" [Scheme.Reg] HKCU,"Control Panel\Cursors\Schemes","%SCHEME_NAME%",,"%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%pointer%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%help%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%work%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%busy%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%cross%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%Text%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%Hand%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%unavailiable%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%Vert%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%Horz%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%Dgn1%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%Dgn2%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%move%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%alternate%,%10%\%CUR_DIR%\%link%" [Scheme.Cur] BlueglassArrow.cur BlueglassHelp.ani aero_working.ani aero_busy.ani BlueglassTextSelect.cur aero_unavail.cur BlueglassSizeNS.cur BlueglassSizeWE.cur BlueglassSizeNWSE.cur BlueglassSizeNESW.cur BlueglassSizeAll.cur aero_prec.cur BlueGlassLink.cur aero_pen.cur aero_alt.cur [Strings] CUR_DIR = "Cursors\BlueGlass Cursors" SCHEME_NAME = "BlueGlass Cursors" pointer = "BlueglassArrow.cur" help = "BlueglassHelp.ani" work = "aero_working.ani" busy = "aero_busy.ani" text = "BlueglassTextSelect.cur" unavailiable = "aero_unavail.cur" vert = "BlueglassSizeNS.cur" horz = "BlueglassSizeWE.cur" dgn1 = "BlueglassSizeNWSE.cur" dgn2 = "BlueglassSizeNESW.cur" move = "BlueglassSizeAll.cur" cross = "aero_prec.cur" link = "BlueGlassLink.cur" hand = "aero_pen.cur" alternate = "aero_alt.cur"
  7. did u test the procedures one by one. first create a distribution with only sp2 and patches alone. test it whether it works. then add the removal procedure and test it if it works. then do the vtp part and test. finally do the tweaks section. u can simply delete the lang folder in i386. i have integrated hotfixes specified in the below forum. if ur problem still persists even if u have done only sp2+hotfixes part, eliminate the hotfixes which is NOT specified in the below forum and try. : http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...st&p=633352
  8. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=873333 873333 is the sample kb no. type the required no there and give it a go.
  9. try carrying out the steps one by one. first integrate sp2 and hotfixes, remove compos and install. then do the tweaks. then add transformation pack etc. most probably i suspect the tweak section.
  10. in ur windows, "install" the cursors and select them as default. then export the registry key under : [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Cursors] now place all the cursor files under $OEM$\$$\Cursors. apply the reg file thru cmdlines.txt or runonceex. good idea ricktendo64, for i can modify the user32.dll and place it in the base winxp distribution so that everytime i use it to slipstream, i need not worry abt the cursors. i have a problem. its expecting 1 bit files but i have 32 bit cursors. any way of doing this? i dont want to decrease the resolution of the cursors which i want to use.
  11. i removed games and internet games and did not select pinball for removal. after installation, i find pinball is also removed and either i cant find the pinball directory under progfiles\Windows NT. is there way to prevent removal of pinball if i select and remove the games and internet games alone?
  12. do u want to select the cursors u add as default?
  13. here are some links : http://www.ithotnews.com/2006/09/28/window...-windows-xp.itn it says a dll file is required to play the games in xp and the file is included within. But these games are extracted from some pre-final version of vista.
  14. from your post, u seem to going well with winntbbu.dll and it seems u can see the modified billboard since u reach the 'installing devices' portion. there may be problem with other procedures u may have carried out. detail your full procedure so that any error can be pointed out.
  15. @nitroshift : all the links in that page are dead. Also they have been modded from the beta versions.
  16. you cant directly run the games (included in vista) in xp. Those games require DirectX10 but xp supports 9.0c. but still there are some which are modded to work in xp.
  17. yes, i just now made one myself and its working. thanks
  18. is there a reg setting to rightclick on a compressed file(like svcpack.in_) and select "Expand here" ...?
  19. you can use the following code inside a cmd file and store it in the folder where ur hotfixes resides and simply run it. no matter how many hotfixes are there, everything would get installed. TITLE Hotfixes Install CLS ECHO. ECHO installing hotfixes ECHO Please wait... FOR %%f IN (*.exe) DO "%%f" /passive /norestart ECHO. ECHO installation Completed! ECHO. pause EXIT
  20. i think he is using registry to apply during unattended install.
  21. to install applications, it is suggested to do after windows gets fully installed and logged in, so that proper user settings and registry entries could be created. i dont know how nlite handles these things, but i use RunOnceEx method to install basic applications and have compiled a second cd for installing more apps using WPI. I do use nlite to integrate hotfixes and remove some compos.
  22. Will this issue get the attention of "The Sneaky". He could give some solution. i often wanted to repair my brother's computer without reformating it. Sorry, forgot to celebrate Annual Day in my previous post for this topic.
  23. are u using any registry tweaks? go to Run and type control userpasswords2 and in users tab, uncheck - "users must enter a username and password....." or Try using this registry entry : [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "AutoAdminLogon"="1" by the way can u explain this line : NonDriverSigningPolicy=Ignore
