  1. Thanks for the response. If you do not mind me answering, what other programs did you try that were successful? If you could, list every successful package you made with InstallRite. Do you recommend just using application switches instead of this program? Just curious. Thanks again.
  2. I searched 'Installrite' [no quotes] and the results were too general. I searched 'Installrite Office' [no quotes] and there were no results. What are the limitations of using this program? I have successfully made an 'install package' of Acrobat Reader, WinRAR, Diskmanager, Nero, and a few other programs. However, I recently made one for Medieval - Total War - Viking Invasion and it says that it cannot read the file. The file is over 1gb, so could that be the problem? I also wonder about making a pack of Adobe Creative Suite and / or Office 2003, but would such a method work with these programs? What about XP Antispy? Norton 2004? Can I take a snapshot, then copy files from a CD/DVD drive to a folder on my HD [such as a plugin folder to the appropriate Azureus directory] and then make a package of just that? Thanks in advance for any and all help. I just would like to know the limitations of this piece of software.
  3. Okay, guess I don't understand what they improved about the ntoskrnl.exe and logonui.exe file. I have tried to just copy the version info from the SP2 default ntoskrnl and overwriting the version table in the XP [sp0] already modded file and it worked. Next up, trying this with the logonui.exe file.
  4. Thanks again everyone. I have realized my error. I had an old version of [perhaps the first version?] of XP Powertoys installed that allowed this function. It was one executable that installed 5 or so applications [calculator, Tweak UI, etc.]. http://www.activewin.com/winxp/tips/basic/6.shtml Have not yet located this install file in my backup disks. And it appears you have to download everything separately now at the MS site. Edited to add: Found it here . . . http://www.tippkiste.ch/downloads/powertoysetup.exe . . . and it works just like I remember.
  5. Hi all, In XP SP1, I could 'cycle' through all users, even the guest acount, no matter if they were logged on or had a password [admin account only]. All options were there and they rotated after each press of the [Q] key [while still holding down the windows key]. For some reason, now in XP SP2, all users can be logged on and it does not even come up and give me an option for any of the other users. If you have SP2 and [windows key] + [Q] still works for you, then it must be a problem with my install. Or perhaps there is a way to reset this in the registry. Thanks again for your suggestions.
  6. Okay, does anyone know if a way to modify both the ntoskrnl.exe -AND- the logonui.exe so that it will work under any flavor of XP [sP0, SP1, SP2]? Thanks in advance.
  7. No. [Windows key] + [L] = Show logon screen [Windows key] + [Q] = Quick Switch User It worked for me under WinXP and WinXP SP1. For some reason, it no longer works after installing SP2.
  8. Recently installed SP2 on an original WinXP system. Now, the ability to switch between logged on users using the "windows key" + the letter "Q" does not work. Was this an intended function of SP2? Is it a bug for which a fix [reg hack] exists? Or am I the only one having this problem? Thanks in advance for any and all help.
  9. I have both a logonui.exe and ntoskrnl.exe that were modded for WinXP [sP0], but of course they do not work with SP2. Does a simple way exist [other than starting over completely] exist for altering these to work with SP2? Perhaps just copying and pasting the "Version Info" portion? Thanks in advance.
