xpsp1a slipstreaming to XP Home gives an error
GreenMachine replied to chezy666's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
****, missed again. Still, I can't help but thinking it is related to the CD structure and file tables, not the files themselves. -
Cute Here are some more in case you want to use them, too! You can also make copies! (ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ) (Bet'cha get loads of help like that ... ) Perhaps Alanoll or xper could activate the "Fast Response" option for this forum? @nuhi: See what you've done? Now you've been banished over here with the wild ones. You there Wraith? Good luck, and keep up the good work!

xpsp1a slipstreaming to XP Home gives an error
GreenMachine replied to chezy666's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I suspect that the vga.sys file is in lower case. All XPCREATIONS have all files in the I386 directory in uppercase, and I never have that problem anymore ... -
RunOnceEx from cd doesn't start
GreenMachine replied to Alex123's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
..\ means back up a level, .\ means in the directory in which the file is found. Yes, it appears that for some reason the Current Directory (CD) is not $OEM$ when we start CMDLINES.TXT. Could be the cause of something that ran be before. Don't know, but the .\ fixes it. Easy enough for me! -
,,,, ..... III ''' ABCDEFGHI ... Here, I think you forgot some of the above! Maybe it's just my eyes, but I could not make heads or tails out of a run-on post like that. Don't mean to be a dick about it ... but if you are looking for help or an answer, it really is easier if the post is legible ...

RunOnceEx from cd doesn't start

Exactly the behaviour one would expect. However, in practice homiebrah, Alex123 and myself have all found this to be false ... -
RunOnceEx from cd doesn't start
GreenMachine replied to Alex123's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I never fathomed that either, but it seems like many get away without the leading .\. When I was using CMDLINES I had problems sometimes, but never with the .\. It is almost like $OEM% is not the current directory when it is called. But ... i stopped using CMDLINES.TXT, and my curiosity left me ... -
I admit, I've never actually used it ... but I have had the opportunity to try to configure it more than once. The network, and by that I mean Internet, LAN, File Sharing, etc, has given me nothing but trouble. I'm sure I have lost hours trying to get things working in Home that I was never even aware I had done in Pro. That's about all I can tell you, because I have such a dislike for it, I now refuse to even look. Perhaps someone will come to it's defense, but not me!
-
Yes, copy REG.EXE: Windows 2000 does not have it. No, do not try $DOCS, I do not think it works in Windows 2000. Export the settings you want to a .REG file, and import from CMDLINES.TXT. Ca va comme ca?

A few: MDAC DOTNET Journal Viewer XML stuff DX9 perhaps the IE / OE updates. If you have a choice, I highly recomend Pro over Home, certainly if you plan any networking. I even prefer Windows 2000 to XP Home

Here are a few: chs (Simplified Chinese) cht (Traditional Chinese) deu (German) enu (English) esp (Spanish) fra (French) ita (Italian) jpn (Japanese) kor (Korean) I am not sure if you can just change those 3 letters in the URL. Nobody out there have any lists ...

NetUser V1.01 16/12/97 (c) Siemens AG, ATD OI usage: netuser <username> <settings> <settings>: /name:<newname> set a new name /pwnexp:{y|n} set 'password never expires'Not that I mean to cotradict you ... but NETUSER does NOT tick the MustChangePassword box, just the PasswordNeverExpires box. CUSRMGR is the only one I found that does.

Well, it's still a nice site! Now we are waiting for your compilation ...

XPCTHLST is desingned to be hosted on a local or remote web server, not as a local file. Not much sense to a local version: you would have to manually update it, which is almost as invloved as just downloading the few new hotfixes.

Just another case of the squeaky hinge getting the oil! Thanks!

In any event, welcome to MSFN!

Gotta hand it to you Datalore, nail on the head. I started to reply to this earlier, then I quit. What I wanted to say, was that it was a shame that it had to leave it's tracks all over the **** place, because it is faster than VPC, and does have a few options that I like. But unobtrusive integration is my highest criteria for software acceptence. VMWare didn't last more than a couple days on my box ... (I always have a spare machine or two on hand, and a monitor/mouse/keyboard switch with spare ports, but I do like the convienience of having my test installs on my desktop.)

Activation and XP Unattended
GreenMachine replied to saimen's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Someone else as lacksidazical as myself! It was months before I figured that out, and in the end decided I would live with it. The error is so silly ... change UnattendedSwitch to UnattendSwitch! -
Much appreciated. I know, once you get used to something, it is never nice when it disappears.
-
Thanks. I never get back to look at edited posts, so I missed it. I thought about doing something similar, as SIZEOF seems to be a bit slow, not too small, and does add another external app to include ... BUT, as I am not sure how well your code will work on the Chineese version, I think in this way I avoid depending on the output of any non-XPCREATE programs. I also include MAKECAB, EXPAND and COMPRESS to insure that I have the versions I expect. Now that I look at the code, I see CABARC is no longer used ... I think I replaced it with COMPRESS. Oh well, I did say test version ... Let me know how the install works out. Thanks!

Looks like a job well done, Jjazz. Perhaps you are a good candidate for the XPCREATE Hotfix Download List in French! @+

Well, I geuss we know who the first user is ... File updated, see link in first post.

Guess I'm slow, Doggie. Say, are you any relation to that three legged dog that was rasing hell all over Australia, searching for something? When they finally asked him what he was looking for, he told them he was "looking for the man that shot my paw" ... Ooops, wrong forum ...
-
Just as I suspected: XPCREATE cannot integrate that hoffix on a DOS based install. You will need to use GuiRunOnce, or similar. Sorry.

plz Help in RunOnceEx.cmd
GreenMachine replied to The Black Cloud's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Not only that, I hesitated!
