  1. I didn't know nothing. In fact, I figured he had not updated to DX9 and was trying to add a patch to it. But the hint did seem to get him going in the right direction, n'est-ce pas?
  2. As you like ... but I would (and did) master the CMDLINES stuff before going on to the next step. I prefer to spend the efforts resolving the problem than looking for the work around. In the end, I always find it easier for this tired brain to follow ...
  3. Thanks, johann83, that kind of supports what I was thinking: there is a source version problem. I'm going to sit tight on this a bit, wait for MBSA, and WU may change as well (Nobody ever mentioned how the USB update is now correctly reported as installed on VPC.) The files are inplace for those worried about integrity, and running the patch later will fix WU, so I'd say we are a low risk level.
  4. Rename user before reboot (e.g. CMDLINES.TXT, not GuiRunOnce), and the directory will have the correct name.
  5. Well, I have found that from RunOnce it works fine. Might just let it keep 817778 company for a bit ... but I do think that it is installed correctly, even if WU reports otherwise. The logs more or less confirm this: it is ony two files. The real test will be to wait until the MBSA files are updated, and see what it says. Still ... if anyone can figure out which registry keys convince WU that it IS installed, I'm a taker!
  6. I'd say there is a hint up at the top: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectX\Version is Not Equal To Specified Value
  7. You don't need all that. You should run the IE setup to download 2K/XP files only. 12 Mb, not more. Don't use IEAK, except to make the INS file if you are interested. Look here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...ndpost&p=136099 And at the bottom of this page: http://greenmachine.msfnhosting.com/XPCREATE/links.htm Download my packer here: http://greenmachine.msfnhosting.com/XPCREATE/download.htm Personally, I just stick the 2K CD in the drive, fire up XPCREATE, and let it take care of the downloading, slipstreaming and integration. Can't help it, just one lazy SOB ... I generally only slipstream updates, not version changes, as in IE, DX, DOTNET, WMP. That is where the headaches are.
  8. I don't "slipstream" DX9, WMP9 or IE into the install, but I get it all in from SVCPACK.INF just fine: Slipstreaming IE is not a great saver, as the install is less than 12 MB, and there are not that many old files that could be ripped out.
  9. I am having a few issues integrating the latest DirectX update. Windows Update does not report it as installed, even though the file versions of the dplayx.dll and dpwsockx.dll are the correct version in the finished install. I will not have much time to look into this right now, so if anyone has discovered a solution, please share it. I have added this update to the Download List. Note: DirectX90-KB839643-x86-ENU.EXE is the correct file for this update. I believe part of the problem lies in slipstreaming DX9 updates, when DX9 itself is only installed. When DX9 goes to install, there are already greater file versions present. Setup does handle this properly, and newer files are not overwritten with older versions. I did try quicky to trace the registry changes after WU, but there was either nothing interesting there, or I missed it (I said quickly ... ).
  10. @hevnbnd: Glad that one was easy! @Sgt_Strider: Change DLAUTO to NO in XPCREATE.INI, and remove the offensive hotfixes. They will not come back till next web download. @frankiboy_01: About the SUS, something i may consider in a future version, but not right now. About the download errors, the way it is deigned to work is continue downloading, report the download error when all possible files have been downloaded, and gracefully exit. There may be a slight logic flaw in the code, so that it continues to crate the ISO. I'll look a little later.
  11. @frankiboy_01: I'm not going to worry about those "exotic" languages just yet, as I have had no requests for them. @Ice M.: Thanks, but I think you had the wrong WindowsMedia9 update, and a little typo. The others were perfect. I "corrected" both the English and German File List versions, if anyone cares to test ...
  12. Personally, I use the wait and see technique. XPCREATE will support SP2 within a few days of it's RTW, and not officially before.
  13. @ente: Thanks for the info, and welcome to MSFN! I've updated the server, perhaps you can test? (I cannot.) Sorry to delete your file, but that is behaviour by design. I debated it, but I want to insure I always have a list from the Server. You could turn DLAUTO to NO ... The descrepency you are seeing is because inside the file SETUP.EXE is the MSI installer named Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer", or as I prefer, MICROS~1. I am not sure about the directory not empty message. There can be conflicts with file creation and deletion and certain antivirus type software. I've updated the test version to do, once again, more logging. If the problem persists, try this version, and post your logfiles. Thanks for the help, and let me know if the list is OK. Mach's gut.
  14. No problem. Note that a lot of these kinds of problem end up being hardware, particularly CD readers ...
  15. Ask Microsoft: I just work here! (I assume you mean inside I386. Just a result of the latest hotfixes. Outta my hands.)
  16. I concour. They both replace the three same files, the DirectX90-KB839643-x86-ENU.EXE is the version Windows Update downloads with DX9b, and contains later versions.
  17. Sounds strange to me. Like a permissions or diskfull problem. iOpus is just a front end into the IE download function, so I have very little insight as to what is really going on. See if you get the same thing on another box. You could also attach the LOGFILES.CAB file, it may give some clue.
  18. Thought it was a bit odd ... I don't quite understand the question, but the answer is no. XPCREATE is only supported when run on "clean" source. No cutting corners to save time. If you mean copy the missing files to the CDSOURCE directory, that is OK. The hotfixes are supposed to only be downloaded once: if they download a second time, something is amiss. EDIT: I get it (must be getting late). Just manually copy all the files to the CDSOURCE directory, and rerun XPCREATE. I would copy EVERYTHING, just incase there were some missing elswhere that you did not notice.
  19. I have had it working fine on the French version. You need to: Unpack UXTHEME.DLL from UXTHEME.DL_ Modify 2 bytes in UXTHEME.DLL Use MODIFYPE.EXE to correct the UXTHEME.DLL checksum. Use MAKECAB UXTHEME.DLL UXTHEME.DL_ to pack the file. Add the file, UXTHEME.DL_, to FILESCS\I386 in XPCREATE. That really should work ...
  20. All the english versions are up, although only XP Pro. 2000 Server and 2003 Enterprise Server have been tested. There is certainly at least one error in th XP Home edition, so if someone tests it, please try to find the correct files, most notably the help update. Still waiting on volunteers for the localized versions!
  21. The Windows Media file is incorrect. It should be WindowsMedia9-KB837272-DEU.exe, and not WindowsMedia9-KB837272-x86-DEU.exe. I believe that is the WIN9X Version. I have the file, and the checksum, but not the link. Perhaps someone can find it in WIndowsUpdate.log? As soon as it is posted, I will update the server. Thanks again, Ice M. One down, a bunch more to go!
  22. I'm thinking it was a fluke ... The problem was in the copy CD to local source somehow. Would you mind trying a "fresh" install, e.g. from an empty directory. You need only go as the begining of downloading, and see how CDSOURCE looks. Let me know ...
  23. Aw, Alanoll, you spoiled it! I've been trying to get someone to manually do that slipstreaming for ages! I was sure I had a taker! I suppose if one was extremely lazy, one could just stick in the XP CD, and run the latest XPCREATE ...
  24. This should get you started ... http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/pro/dow...p1/hfdeploy.asp
