  1. You have disabled DHCP Client service. Enable it for it to stop acquiring network address, but Internet will still work even if you don't enable it .
  2. You might want to try 110mb.com FREE web host no ads, no popups, no spam 2000 MB storage space 100 GB monthly bandwidth ftp, PHP5 (very fast), MySQL5, CGI, Perl, Python, SSI, Joomla
  3. For backward compatibility with older MS Office Word, click Tools => Options then click Compatibility tab, then set your option on the drop down list Recommended options for: Microsoft Word 2000. Don't forget to click OK. Now, IT IS possible to open MS Word 2003 .doc files in MS Word 2000 . I always put my MS Word 2003 compatibility to Microsoft Word 97 because when you email or share a document, you sometimes don't know what version of Office others are using. This is playing safe.
  4. If you don't use any "cleaner" for recently used entries (like ccleaner or disk cleaner), chances are if you are to open the registry now you will be back at the most recent key you edited. This means you can easily put back the default registry entry (if you know what that was ).
  5. Very nice! Thanks for sharing !
  6. I'm new to Compression Bin and I like it, thank you . May I suggest that can you also distribute CompBin in just an .exe file. I mean, of course I can just get the file after installation (or use Uniextract to get the file) but I would prefer to use it as a single executable. This would also make a my set up a little bit cleaner. Thanks in advance.
  7. Right click on the installation file and select Properties. On the Compatibility Tab, check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" then select OS (in this case, Windows XP).
  8. Relax... Its just a dynamic signature (IP sig): http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=47730 http://purl.oclc.org/phpmix/guides/How_to_...namic_signature Its ONLY YOU who can see what is inside the sign not me or anybody else (but gets the freak out of unknowing individuals ). I haven't tried the tutorial though, I'm too lazy for it. I got my sign at Danasoft, now go get your signature .
  9. Windows will not use the modded shell32.dll because it will appear invalid. Instead it will automatically replace the "reshacked" dll with the correct one from its backup C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache (unless you disabled Windows File Protection (WFP)). It now has a new checksum values from our edit with resource hacker, and this new checksum value will not match the value stored inside of the file. We have to update this checksum inside of this PE (Packed Executable) file, and use ModifyPE with it's -c switch, to recalculate the checksum and store it so that the file does not appear to be corrupt to Windows. At command prompt type: Use modifype after editing the file, and/or right before using or compressing it (for new installation). @prithvi: ModifyPE your "reshacked" shell32.dll Delete the backup shell32.dll at C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache (so that windows will not recover from the "true" backup) Copy your "reshacked" shell32.dll into C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache (the new backup) Use your own technique in replacing C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll Enjoy...
  10. I would love to post a screenshot but I'm using Win2003 now, if my current setup freezes and needs re-install then I would have an excuse to install win 2000 to get a screenie - I would even PM you. For those who would want to start right away here are the list of win2000 files that I changed the icons to Vista: One of the reasons why I left w2k for w2k3 is that it has serious disabilities, like Civilization IV won't run. Other reasons are IE7 & WMP10/11, more difficult to install MSJava 5.0.810. Aside from these, win 2000 is a LEAN and MEAN machine, it even supports "raw sockets" . I was even watching a forum thread at OSBETA (now offline or somebody new is hosting it) about changing the looks and upgrading the kernel of win2000 (much as what some are doing with win98X spearheaded by MDGx). How I wish some of the more knowledgeable ones would do so with win 2000. The farthest now I guess, is the w2k hotstream project (started by gurgelmeyer and prathapml) by continuing up to Service Pack 5 (unofficial) and download is hosted by Softpedia and Majorgeeks. Until then...
  11. I haven't tried doing this though, If you do, try disabling Windows File Protection during installation by using Nlite, this might help. I have been successful in changing all the icons/wallpapers to Vista in Win 2000 sp4 roll-up 1, modifype'd, cabbeb and placed back in /i386 folder for installation BUT when I touched the ntoskrn.exe to modify bootscreen, win2k installation fails . What I did was change everything (icons on shell32.dll, mydocs, etc) except ntoskrnl.exe, after it boots up i copied a renamed ntoskrnl and let BOOT.INI point to the modded kernel. Even people I personally knew never guessed the OS that I was using, (their guess was mod'ed XP, or Vista ).
  12. Check this site: Little White Dog Their boot logo Gallery I've been using LWD's technique, also works with Windows 2003 !
  13. Use modifype after you've made changes to the file. If you reshack the file later again, then modifype it again.
  14. So many wallpapers... It would be better if you provide even just tiny screenshots.
  15. Me too, Age of Empires 2 and Civilization III & IV.
  16. After following all the steps, I find that media player skin is all I want and worth keeping. Thanks!
  17. @K_O_: Your project is nice one. I'm also using Reshack, XVi32 and Wscite (as editor) on drive G:. Please post link so I can download your shell extension. @spiritpyre: If you could make shell extension for modifype and makecab (.reg file only, and assuming modifype is in c:\windows\system32) plus combined with K_O_'s shellext, would greatly help in my modding of files . No more using command prompt because I'm lazy using it ). Good Luck! Happy Holidays!
  18. http://www.bestqualitywallpapers.com/ http://www.crystalxp.net/galerie/en.cat.2.htm Enjoy!
  19. FireFox all the way! But I keep IE7 for its sole purpose on Windows Update
  20. Nice animations... Thank you for changing your files host. Happy Holidays
  21. zillah: First, you have to have nmap, winpcap (installed), dotnet 2.0 (installed) and nmapview. Next, extract nmapview in a directory (folder), the default path for nmap should be a subdirectory (subfolder) of nmapview, but should not matter as long as you set the correct path. then its easy... here's the output There are lots of documentation on Nmapview's site. There are also video demos swf1 (3mb) swf2 (1.7mb).
  22. I have tried several times to download using Firefox 2.0.0.1 and MSIE 7, but still unable to download. Maybe my anti-spywares or tight (secure) configuration of my Win2003sp1 is blocking your site. I've also tried entering just the root http://www.mediafire.com/ for both IE7 and FF2.0.0.1 and all I see is a BLANK page. After using view page source, it contains: I've given up. I don't want to install Opera, and good luck to all who can download from your site.
