please anyone try this and tell me if this happens in all vista machines or mine only: - resume from hibernate - login screen or desktop appears (according to your settings) - don't press any key or move mouse and wait for about 10 minutes.. - system go automatically into hibernate. does windows update support resuming ? ie: if i shut down system while downloading a large update like SP1, can it resume download the next time from the point it stopped at it ? Thank you.

do you mean event viewer ? it only tells you in the performance section what is delaying your boots or shutdowns, but with no fix like xp bootvis..

i'd done something else: i'd created another account and from it i deleted the Desktop folder and create a new one, this had solved the problem but now when i delete a file, i'd to press F5 to refresh desktop so that recycle bin display its empty icon !! ie the desktop is not refreshed automatically ??

i've a folder on desktop, i'd rename it by Alt + 255 to hide its name now i can't delete it or rename... its attribute is set to read only and can't change it also !! i'd tried safe mode but no way. How can i delete it ? Please Help.... Thank you

i think i'd read about bootable disks / CD rom with NTFS support, so that you can gain access to hard drive... try search for that.
