    Halo 2

The **** loader doesn't work for me. and yes, I actually bought the game. I'm not buying Vista. That's for goddamn sure.
  2. Has this ever happened to anyone else? It won't go past the screen where you enter a key. It tries to access the floppy drive then just sits there. I left it go a couple hours but nothing happened.
  3. I've used 32-bit XP Pro pretty much since it was released and I don't remember having this issue. However, everytime I decide to instal XP 64-bit, I end up getting irritated and reformatting because of this odd task switching bug I get. Once I have a few (5-6 or more) apps running, I notice that sometimes when I click an item in the taskbar to bring it back up a different program jumps up in front of it. The item I click comes up, but then a different app jumps up too. I don't get it. Has anyone ever seen this happen?
  4. Norton is a Symantec brand. They're the same company, but there's a difference. "Norton" software is bloatware for home users, and "Symantec" is coporate/enterprise (professional software). What I'm saying is I like the business (Symantec) anitvirus software, and I want to know if there's a business version of the firewall software for use on XP. It would appear that "Symantec Enterprise Firewall" isn't compatible.
  5. Is there a Symantec (corporate) firewall available? I saw something called Symantec Enterprise Firewall, but the last version I see available is still Win2k only. Is there something else? Symantec Antivirus seems a lot nicer than Norton, so I was hoping to switch to the Symantec side with my firewall too.
  6. Well, it does. It takes longer to scan than it does to install, which is why I'm looking for a way around it. okay? p.s. Learn to type. This isn't an AOL chatroom.
  7. Funny. I would've expected Google to be able to come up with an answer for this, but no such luck. It seems just copying the partials to the Limewire incomplete folder does nothing. I also found one of the same files and started the download, then overwrote the partial file with the one from Shareaza and restarted the app. Again, not that simple; it still thought the file was just started rather than half done. Any help would be appreciated. Note that I'm using Shareaza 2.2.1.0(?). I think the newer versions switched to saving the incomplete files as .DAT rather than using the actual extension like these do.
  8. Well, it should be possible to make it ignore all my goddamn storage drives. If the stupid thing didn't infest Windows so bad, I could just keep a copy of the installed version and to hell with running installers. Too bad it's never that simple.
  9. Ah, thanks. Hopefully, restoring them will be as easy as keeping a backup of that folder and copying it over next time.
  10. I live out in amish country, and noone offers broadband internet. I'm getting rather tired of downloading 15 megs worth of last year's virus defs on freakin dialup everytime I reinstall Windows and SAV10. Is there a way to backup all the virus definitions?
  11. Is it possible to skip that "Searching for installed components" BS on Microsoft software? Visual Studio 6, in particular, gives me trouble. I don't appreciate having to wait a half hour while the goddamn thing searches all 7 of my hard drives!! Just install dammit! There's no reason it should be looking anywhere but C drive, if even there.
  12. Why the hell can't Explerror remember simple s*** like this? It's almost as bad as IE not remembering that I can't stand "Webpage Complete." PoS Is there a registry key to keep the **** status bar displaying?
  13. How do you determine how much memory a process is using so you can dump it all?
  14. You shall have only a few of these files in comparision with the magnimous number of the kb files. A few my a**. I have about 25 gigs of music, 300+ gigs of small and large video files, etc. When I search for something it's bigger than a meg, unless it's source code or a doc of some kind... which I would typicly search for by name anyway!
  15. Quite a lot of people actually. Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, text files, log files, INI files, etc, etc...are all more often than not less than 1MB. Then search for "at most" 1MB. If you have so many files you need to narrow it down more than that, tough s***, your problem. MB would be the right unit of measurement for this if anyone could come up with a way to do it.
  16. I keep being reminded of this annoyance more and more, so I thought I'd ask if anyone has found a way to change it. I think it's totally idiotic that Explorer only lets you specify the size ("at least"/"at most") of the file you're searching for in KB. Who the hell needs to search in KB these days for christ sakes!? It should be MB.
  17. I find it rather odd that you can pretty much write DVDs faster than you can read them. I was wondering if there's anything that can speed up reading? I read something a while back about a read cache setting in Windows for cd-rom drives, but I think the info was about Win98.
  18. heh. These are Cables Unlimited ones. I don't get why some of these **** adapters are still so expensive. Sucks to spend $60 on 3 cables. I just don't understand how they can work on 1 board and not work on another. The machine with the Asus board wouldn't even make it past the BIOS logo with those plugged in, until I reset the power. On a cheap old ECS board, however, the **** things worked fine. It's just strange.
  19. I recently bought a few IDE to USB adapters and they've refused to work on XP Pro SP1 or XP 64-bit. I believe this to be a board problem of some kind because the adapters work fine on a different board with XP SP1. I've had other devices in the USB ports before that worked, tried other ports, etc. nothing. It p***es me off to no end when something simple refuses to work and there's no logic behind it whatsoever. I tried updating the bios and that not only didn't work, but caused other problems. When that happened, I figured p*** on it and tried to downgrade the BIOS. Now my board is junk because the **** BIOS corrupted and all I get is black screen on boot. I want to determine whether to send the board in for replacement or if I need a different one. I've got a case with like 20 bays (Lian Li 2100B) and I don't want to be limited on how many goddamn devices I can have hooked up. I was using an old Promise PCI card to accomodate extra IDE hard drives before, but I can't run x64 with that, and I wanna run x64; Otherwise, WTF is the point in having a 64bit chip? I may as well have upgraded my AthlonXP system. Basicly, I have 5 IDE hard drives, 3 IDE optical drives, and 3 SATA hard drives. I want them all hooked up in this bloody system! Plus, when I have some money to spend, I want a **** Zip250 in here too (don't ask me why), and maybe more SATA hard drives. Maybe even a Jazz drive just for the hell of it! hehe p.s. I tried an IDE to SATA adapter and it worked fine on x64, but XP SP1 wouldn't even boot with it plugged in...even though the 3 SATA hard drives I have plugged into the NVRAID controller work perfectly fine!! What the hell!?
  20. I had a modem with an Agere chipset and it worked on x64. The modem quit working on me after switching back to 32-bit (because of other compatibility issues). I got one with the same chipset and I'm hoping it'll work when I install x64 again.
  21. I prefer WMP8, but 9 is ok. The only major problem I think I had with WMP10 was that left/right arrows didn't work to seek while watching videos.
  22. That's what I've always said too. What's the big deal about NFOs in the first place? A simple readme.txt is perfectly fine. I don't why all these dumbass groups need to get fancy with it.
  23. I was running the x64 verison of SAV10 for a couple weeks (at most) and starting getting errors everytime I booted up saying the virus defs were missing or something. I love the 32-bit version of SAV, so I was rather disappointed when I started having problems.
  24. Goddamn that's annoying. When you highlight a file the little tooltip thing shows you Bytes, KB, MB, or GB depending on the size of the file you're highlighting, but you can't even choose which way to show it in the size column on details view? For christ sakes. Has anyone found a way to change this?
  25. Ooooh. That's awesome! Thanks
