  1. heh. That worked. thanks
  2. I somehow killed my copy of WMP 10. It saus it can't start because "Uxtheme.dll was not found" and asks me to reinstall it. But I downloaded the WMP10 installer before for XP and when I tried running it I'm told it's only for 32-bit and it refuses to install.
  3. Any program that opens an Internet Explorer window opens the 32-bit version. Is there a way to default to 64-bit?
  4. nevermind. It was something goofy with my motherboard. I got it working. ...built a new system yesterday and I've been trying to get up and running.
  5. This card just has 2 IDEs. I don't see any with 64-bit drivers offered. I see some SATA adaptors though. I could get a couple of those, I guess.
  6. I'm gonna be p***ed if I can't use my RAID card with x64. If there aren't drivers, are there any cards like this that do have x64 drivers?
  7. I've been trying unsuccessfully to install this on a 160 gig Seagate 7200.8 SATA drive. Setup sees the drive and lets you partition it, but when you try to choose it to install to it says it's 190730MB and "does nt contain a Windows-compatible partition." What the hell???
  8. Ok. This is starting to p*** me off. It used to work fine, but ever since I reformatted I can't get WMVs to play in Media Player Classic or PowerDVD half the time. They just try to open the video and freeze. Try a couple times, and they end up working. I don't get it. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm using XP Pro SP1 with PowerDVD6, Media Player 9, and MPC 6.4.8.2(?). I've also tried MPC 6.4.8.4 and had no luck. This used to work, but ever since I reformatted I've been having problems. I've actually redone everything twice since the last time I had working WMV playback in players besides WMP. I always preferred WMP 8, but the newer PowerDVD actually requires WMP9 to install. That alone really p***ed me off.
  9. I'm running 2003 Server right now, and I'm getting tired of those stupid messages everytime I login to Windows...they tell what crashed the last time you were logged in. I have System > Error Reporting setting to "Notify me of critical errors" just like on XP, but XP didn't do this on boot. I crashed GTA:SA like 20 times the other day, and I got 20 goddamn popups after I rebooted. Is it that 2003 Server considers EVERY program crash a critical error and reprts it on boot instead of just system stuff?
  10. Are you blind? I just said it doesn't work for me anymore! It freezes when you try to play a WMV. Windows Media PLayer is the only thing that plays the **** videos.
  11. I'm running 2003 Server with PowerDVD, WMP9, WMencoder 7.1, and Kazaa Lite Mega Codec Pak installed. I have lots of WMVs/ASFs that played fine on PowerDVD and media player classic on my last installation. For some reason, the other players crash now though. Any ideas?
  12. Anyone had this problem? Is there a way around it?
  13. I'd like to add services.msc and possibly Computer Management to my Start > Settings so I don't have to p*** around browing to them. I'd also like to remove that Unplug/Eject icon from my systry. Not hide it. KILL it. I know I've seen the option before on either this or Win2k. I dunno if it appeared when I unplugged something without using that or what, but there was a checkbox "Show Unplug/Eject in the system tray" or somethin like that. I'll be damned if I've ever been able to find the option again.
  14. I just thought of something... Are you prompted for the extra comfirmations if you move/delete via the command prompt? What about adding your own Move/Delete thing thing to the Explorer toolbar/context menu that uses the command prompt to get things done?
  15. First off, I was wondering if it's possible to change the special locations that are shown on most Open/Save dialogs in Windows (XP/2k/2k3)... the buttons that appear on the left side (My Recent Documents, Desktop, My Documents, My Computer, Network Places), not the combo box on top. Can those be changed? I was also wondering if anyone has ever found a way to modify the default File > Save As filetype for webpages in Internet Explorer. Some of us don't like "Webpage Complete" and are getting rather tired of changing it every goddamn time because the stupid thing won't remember a little thing like that.
  16. Problem is these particular settings don't save half the goddamn time (on XP, at least). That's why I wanna know where the hell they're at.
  17. Internet Explorer: window size (height/width, and normal/maximized/fullscreen) Explorer & IE: Show Status Bar setting
  18. I'd like to know a way to fix that too. I don't mind the standard delete confirmation, but I don't want a goddamn confirm about deleting or moving Read-Only/EXE/System files. That's bloody annoying. "I don't care if it's Read Only, I said move the f***ing thing!!"
  19. Ok. I'm looking around in Norton and I don't see an option to import/export any of the settings. Am I just blind, or is it now there? Are there files somewhere to copy? I took a quick look through the folders and didn't see anything.
  20. I hate how the thing only appears half the time. It'll be shown on the first window you open but not other ones, etc. I was wondering if there's a way to ensure it'll always show. Like a reg tweak, maybe?
  21. How do you increase the icon spacing globally? edit: found it
  22. Why must I always find the annoyances that noone knows how to fix?
  23. Ever notice how when you use icon, tile, etc view in explorer, it chops off filenames and shows "..." so you have to select/highlight the goddamn thing to see the whole filename? Is it at all possible to disable that?
