With my technet it generates keys for retail ver of Win7 but only 1 key for Enterprise. Does this mean i can use it on multiple machines?

I would get this error on certain machines and sometimes not others. After a bunch of ours I found that certain spaces or characters would cause this in the description. Things like ( or . and or line spaces after pressing enter would cause this error. So check your descriptions and don't make it too fancy! Hope this helps some of you out!

Very interesting. I've been very interested in hard drive performance ever since i got my first comps. I was pretty appalled with Vista's copy performance, but Sp1 seems to optimized it a bit better. Win7 seems much better. I'm currently going through Mark Russinovich's Inside Windows to get a better knowledge of whats going on deep in windows. I'm going to try do a few tests myself with XP, Vista, and 7beta. I have a huge bunch of hard drives including Fujitsu 15k MAUs, Seagate 15k.3s, 7200.9, 7200.10, 7200.11, Hitachi 1TB, WD 1TB Green, WD Blacks and Scorpio. Would be interesting if i can get some consistent results. Any tips on what kind of tools i should use? I've been using Teracopy for a while, but 2.0 doesn't let you change buffer sizes easily anymore. I've tried all the other copy tools, but always go back to teracopy.

The RAID feature in server Windows is pretty good. Its not very robust at all, but it creates a simple RAID that can be transfered to any other Windows server or any XP machine with 2 replaced files, no drivers or real incompatibilities to mess around with. Anyone know if Vista has this or any way to enable it? Thanks!

My comp only comes with a restore disc and i only have an image of the corporate XP from the internet. What can i do to use the key that came with my comp?

I think it has something to do with the driver packs but can't find anything about it. After everything is installed and first login everything is blue and MakePNF.exe seems to cause it to stall. If i cntrlaltdel to the taskmanager and end it everything loads and is fine after that. Anyone know what could cause this? It happens in VMWare and regular computer installs.

Western Digital has gotten extremely weird about their warranties. Retail drives, unless they are raptors are all 1 year. Only OEM JB SE drives have 3 years. Its better to stick with Seagtes they all have 5 years now no matter what. I perfer a company who sticks by their products for 5 years not fuss or fine print. I just got a 400GB its smoking fast.

There are like 7 folders in the driver set, what can i consolidate to the OEM driver folder?

All i hear are problems with 9. Are there any reasons to upgrade it from 8?

i heard good things about 98 how it slimmed it down to like 50MB, i hear XP lite can slim down XP to almost half its original size. Anyone try it? Also would be nice if you can somehow incorporate it into unattended http://www.litepc.com/xplite.html

How do i make the defualt icon size to regular? Defualt has the huge Tiles view. I tried reg tracing it but can't get it working. Any help would be much appreciated!

I also found that Corporate has better remote features and you can update clients from servers. With the recent worm outbreak my friends have been asking what to use. So i've been trying as many as i can find. Avast! seems to be one of the best free ones, you have pretty good control, nice GUI, and an Autoupdate engine which is awesome. It seemed to hosed one of my friends machines though. AVG is alright. McAfee is nothing but problems, whats wrong with them man? From setup to finish it gave errors and takes forever on a couple of different machines. Norton takes a while but goes on without a hitch and seems to find a lot of viruses. I'd say its a tossup between Avast! and Norton, they are always updated, which is what counts!

What are some differences between AV2003 and Corporate?

I'm trying to find a way to customize WinXP to get My computer, My Network, and my Docs on desktop and to change the default icons to a smaller icon for all folders. I tried compared with regsnapshots but can't seem to get it working. Anyone got this?

I recommend you download the freeware K-Lite Codec pack. It comes with a plenthora of codecs all in one easy to use package. Includes:Divx, Xvid,WMV,3viX and they even have alternatives to Quicktime and Real. Klite

Thanks for the incredible guide, it has been a while since i made one of these and didn't know where to start for XP. You guide is great! keep updating it! I've made a couple versions so far and tested them, but for some reason every time i get the little window that asks you if you want to optimize your resolution ect. I have this in the SIF already: [Display] BitsPerPel=32 Xresolution=1024 YResolution=768 Vrefresh=85 but it doesn't seem to work? Also for nvidia drivers, for some reason the driver search doesn't install them correctly, it sees the video card model alright, but the drivers are not really installed, the desktop goes to 640x480 at 8bit resolution. Its horrible! I'm guessing you have to run the setup? Anyone got Nero 6 working with auto reg? Also i've been trying to find regkeys not for the custimizations but haven't had much luck: Show My Computer, Network Neighborhood, My Docs on desktop Don't group similar windows Display icon view as default for all folders Enable Clear type font thanks a bunch!!!
