  1. Thanks ! Might want to change the hue a bit to fit the color of your site .
  2. Indeed! I'm not sure it's safe to skip it though, since my monitor output failed to appear. Then again, I don't even know if two molexes are required, or if the lack of output is due to me not having inserted the processor yet .
  3. http://www.crystalfontz.com/software/cryst...es/hd-molex.jpg I switched the wire from the first hole to the fourth. Any way to buy a replacement cable? Going through the RMA process is overkill to fix such a simple problem. And I ran my video card without the power connector at all, though I didn't notice any change.
  4. I've tried tugging and pulling, but it's still stuck...
  5. I've been having a bad day as far as computers go. Never having had used a PCI-E card before, I plugged in my card hoping all was good to go. But then I noticed that I forgot to plug in the power connector from my card to the power supply. So I fetched the plug, but noticed that the yellow wire on one of the connectors had somehow detached itself. Not thinking much about it, I reattached it into one of the free slots in the connector. Then I power up my computer and...nothing. I recheck everything and I still get a blank screen. Isolating everything worked, so I thought it might be the video card. It turned out that my carelessness reinserted the yellow wiring into the wrong place !!! So now my question is, is there any way to detach the yellow power connector wire and reattach it into the right place? On another note, something (I'm not sure what it's for) on my motherboard burnt down...Could it be possible that turning the power supply on and off to shutdown the computer is a bad idea?
  6. Just flush your memory periodically, or use Server 2003. I know I saw some site that had a competition to see how long you could keep your computer running. The best was like 3 years or something...
  7. @stgeorge78 Where did you find that information from? I cannot find any sites that confirm Microsoft officials being quoted saying that.
  8. Happy new year Gdogg ! You've already missed the Christmas celebration . To everyone else, Windows GE is progressing well. Expect the first beta out at around the same time as when my new computer ships, which has been delayed due to some credit card issues ...
  9. What does everyone think of this banner I made? Feel free to use it !
  10. The platters are smaller than average to achieve the 10,000RPMs. You can see this in the pictures of the Raptor.
  11. Or it could imply the solution in the nForce 4 series, where a dedicated chip onboard the motherboard handles the processing of network traffic.
  12. Can't you just change the option in Nero from whatever your recorder is to image recorder and then save the image as an ISO?
  13. Yeah it is. The amount of platters you can fit on a drive as small as the Raptor is the limiting factor.
  14. Computer enthusiasts adore Raptor hard disk drives (HDDs) from Western Digital Technologies for unbeatable performance at relatively affordable cost. Unfortunately, the drives so far have not featured really large capacity. Nevertheless, WD may improve this in a few weeks when it released a new Raptor with 150GB capacity. Germany-based online store Alternate.de is currently offering its clients to pre-order WD1500AD hard disk drive, hich is also known as Raptor 150GB. The new Raptor drives reportedly sport 16MB cache, feature average seek time of 4.5ms, 10 000rpm motor, support for native command queuing (NCQ) technology. The new drive also has Serial ATA-300 interface and promises to offer leading performance. The new Raptor hard drive from WD will not only be an interesting purchase for gaming enthusiasts and workstation users, but will also be a valuable option for servers that require high performance. The new hard disk drive will reportedly be available in January, 2006. The price for pre-order is approximately $380 (€319), which is inline with expectations. Western Digital officials did not comment on the news-story. Source: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/storage/displ...1223083509.html
  15. @tom_vilsack Merry Christmas to you too, as well as to everyone else, although you should've said "Happy Holidays" to be politically correct .

Well is it really right to say that Office sucks, yet make excuses for why OpenOffice is inefficient?
  17. @tom_vilsack Yes, there will be internet support. What's the fun of games without being able to play against others ? You won't be needing a firewall, as GE will be secure by default. I don't see how loading drivers will give you DLL hell. That's usually caused by buggy software that shares the same DLL's as the system. @Nakatomi2010 I won't know until I get my new computer. But hopefully, yes.
  18. Unfortunately, I will not be able to release it on Christmas day, as I hoped.... Expect it to be out right before New Years.
  19. @suryad I'm not releasing any benchmarks until my new computer arrives, for fear that you'll laugh at my pathetic hardware .

  21. Hmm...I wonder where's Gdogg ? He's been gone for over a week.
  22. @albator So you completely blocked the airflow?
  23. But there's no way to clean the power supply...Unless I want to endanger my life .
  24. Unfortunately, I have an AMD CPU, so I can't try it out . Screenshots looks nice though .
  25. @LLXX The one in the registry is encoded, so you need a program of some sort.
