Diagnostics show no errors. It is a hitachi disk in a Lenovo R61 laptop. I also tried a BIOS update, with no result and after that i tried changing the SATA mode from AHCO to Compatibility mode, also with no result. I gave up, it seems like this laptop cannot be imaged with ImageX.

We just made a backup of the data with ghost. That was slow, but it finally worked. After that we restored the ghost image to another computer. And on that computer we tried to make an image file again. The strange thing is, that this worked normally and also very fast. So the problem must have something to do with the specific computer. We already performed a chkdsk /R on drive D:. This results in no errors. Also the eventviewer does not show any errors. Defragmentation is also done, no prblems. On drive D:, we have 15 GB free space. Conclusion: at the moment we still do nog have an idea about the solution here Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, these files do exist on the system. We start the computer with WinPE 3.0, which is booted from PXE. Once WinPE is started, we start the capture. The image is written to a networklocation. The amount of memory on the system is 1.97 GB. Any ideas already?

Hello, We are planning the deployment of Windows 7 and currently have Windows XP installed on our computers. The idea is that we make a backup (is nessesary) of the Windows XP installation using ImageX. In a lot of cases this works fine and we can extract files from the WIM file using 7-zip. However, sometimes is seems not possible to capture a drive. We receive Error = 2 The system cannot find the file specified. We already tried a chkdsk /R on the drive, but this gives no solution. We do see "Large file records" while running chkdsk, but we are not sure is this has something to do with the problem. Has anyone experienced this problem before or has anyone got an idea about the solution? Kind regards, Aittersu

Hi, Although this message is from a long time ago, we do have these problems as well. The message with ImageX is Error = 2 : The file specified cannot be found. Is there a good way to find out what is exactly causing this problem? We have one partition which cannot be captured with ImageX. It fails every time, with different files. Can it be that this has something to do with large filenames? On the drive we are capturing, there are a lot of files which are stored in folders with long file names and also the files themselves have very long file names. Does anyone have a good explanation for this Error 2 with ImageX?

I integrated SP3 to my XP i386 source, and now also added WMP11 using the WMP 11 integrator, but I receive two errors: Setup cannot copy the file wmdrmsdk.dll And after that another error: mfplat.dll Is this related to SP3? Does someone have a solution for this? I use winnt.exe to start the setup from a DOS boot environment.

Hi, I,m trying to integrate WMP11 on a Windows XP SP3 installation source. I used Nlite 1.4.5 in combination with WMP 11 slipstreamer 1.2. During the installation, I get "setup cannot copy the file rsop.mof". After that, also some other files cannot be found. Has anyone got a solution for this problem?

Mh, that's no integration then, litteraly speaking I think it would be important to find out why integration of addons installed via .inf file is not possible nymore. And nuhi's advice to switch off sfc (nlite dosfc option i suppose) does not work at all. There is still a sp3.cat on the system and I suppose it is used though having set the above option and put that driversign=ignore policy in unattend.txt. the sfc_os.dll was replaced by nlite correctly too. Dunno where the corresponding registry key to switch it of is set.. The silliy thing is that all addons and "enlitements" worked fine without sp3 Now having used nlite that modifies some inf and cab files, some of the os components (not removed) are not copied obviously resulting in a broken OS Hi tekkie, Have you already managed to find a solution? I found a solution!! First I replaced usetup.exe in the I386 with SMSS.exe from I386\System32. Thanks to BikingDutchman for the tip!! This already solved the problem that the correct screen resolution was not taken over from the unattend.txt. Secondly I edited I386\$oem$\$1\$$rename.txt I added the following entries: [\WINDOWS\System32\WBEM] evtgprov.dll = "CmdEvTgProv.dll" evtgprov.mof = "CmdEvTgProv.mof" Napprov.mof = "NapClientProv.mof" NapSchem.mof = "napclientschema.mof" After this the setup runs normally without quitting at the T-28 pount during the GUI Phase. Also, Security center etc works again. I still have one error in c:\windows\setuperr.log after installation: Error: Setup could not register the OLE Control C:\WINDOWS\system32\msjetoledb40.dll because of the following error: LoadLibrary returned error 126 (the specified module could not be found). *** [i/] I am working on this one, but so far it looks like the problem is solved.

I noticed a difference between usetup.exe in the I386 folder and SMSS.exe in I386\System32. SMSS.exe was patches by SP3, Usetup.exe not. So i started an clientinstall and stopped the installation after the files were copied. When i look into the directory c:\$win_bt$.~bt\system32, i noticed that smss.exe that can be found there is NOT patched.... So now i replaced usetup.exe from the I386 folder with SMSS.exe from I386\System32. I started a new install, and now c:\$win_bt$.~bt\system32\SMSS.exe is indeed the patched one. Still, the effect is that napclientprov.mof is not copied, but isn't this strange?

Hi BikinDutchman, In wbemoc.inf, i added the stuff about "NR's WBEM Fix AddOn for Windows XP SP3" later because i found a topic on the msfn forum, suggesting that this addition would fix the problem. This was not the case, so I think I will remove those entries again. I give it maybe another day, after that i'm going to focus on WIN PE I think Every new idea is welcome....

The drivers are in the $OEM$ directory and exactly the same as the drivers that i use for SP2. I used a clean Windows XP installation CD with SP2 integrated. I slipstreamed SP3 in that setup, but I still use the original $OEM$. The problem is : - at T28 the file napclientprov.mof is missing. - After the installation the Firewall does not work properly - Screen resolution is not taken over from the unattend.txt - missing shortcuts for IE after installation.

Well. I got a fresh Windows XP SP2 cd. I copied the complete content to a network drive. I am still using my original $OEM$ directory in the I386 directory. I then slipstreamed the SP3 using Nlite. After that i try a reinstall from a DOS PXE boot environment (winnt.exe). Copying files is ok, but during the GUI fase some files cannot be copied, including napclientprov.mof. And when the setup is complete, the screen resolution is not taken over from the unattend.txt. also, the icons for IE are missing and the windows Firewall is not working.

Nope. It should be unattend.txt. I'me starting the installation from a DOS environment and am using winnt.exe /U:%TEMP%\UNATTEND.TXT I still haven't found the solution for my problem.

I have the correct driver, and the correct drivers are also installed, but the screen resolution is not at 1024 * 768. In the unattend.txt isThe vertical and horizontal resolution are set to 1024*768, so that is not the problem. Is no one else experiencing these problems?

Hi, I integrated XP SP3 in my installsource. When i install a new client the screen resolution from my unattend file (1024 * 768) is not accepted. it just appears in 640 *480. Also, i cannot ping the computer and when i try changing the firewall settings I get: "Windows firewall settings cannot be displayed because the associated service is not running. Do you want to start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) services?" If i click Yes, an error occurs. Anyone got a solution for this? I already got a clean Xp installation CD with SP2 integrated and slipstreamed the SP3 in that I386 folder. Still the result is the same
