the only sure way it would reinstall is if the package still exists on your system though, no package = no install right? or does it come through windows update?

what method did you use? ntlite? wimtweak? winreducer? i tried ntlite and reducer to begin with but they always messed up something and didn't give me much control on what to keep / remove. at least with an online removal you can test in a vm in real time. as for your prob, i remember removing some driver packages on 8.x and that would break my connection, most mum files list drivers by name and you can see which ones are critical and which ones are optional.

weird why some of you are having cortana reinstall it self. not sure if this relevent, but i downloaded two simple ps scripts that just run the following commands; Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage (removes all metro apps) Get-AppXProvisionedPackage -online | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage –online (cleans up) then i run the cortana script from here that removes it with dism / wimtweak then i run my own that removes with dism / wimtweak, just to check it's gone, if it just flys through then i know it's gone. (same removal command just without all the custom stuff script bits) haven't had cortana return once in more than 20 reinstalls of windows 10. have you guys deleted all the app registry keys amd folders from systemapps & the program files app folder (if relevent) i didn't look to see if cortana is stored in the app folder like in windows 8 with it's apps.

it does indeed. i think it needs net 3.5 installed and uac has be off. or run as admin, but i find that annoying. quicker to just disable uac.

Can you run the Settings App to initiate a Windows Update? Each person clearly has a level of functionality they expect. A Win 10 system without the ability to run Windows Update is acceptable to me, and though notifications may be few I do expect some working method for the system or other applications to notify me of things. To be viable it seems to me a tweaked Win 10 system needs to be as functional as - nay, better than - a well-tweaked Win 7 or 8.1 system. Otherwise, what's the point? I suppose a system optimized for nothing other than running DirectX 12 games - assuming one ever comes out - might be useful for some. I haven't seen Mobsync since I can recall looking, and I have never deleted all those registry keys. Perhaps it has to do with something else I've deconfigured or removed. What doesn't work with RuntimeBroker hacked out of the system by deleting all those registry keys? I'll have to try some experiments. Such information could be useful to Win 8.1 users as well. -Noel taskhostw.exe is part of task scheduler. it only runs on my system when there's an active task. i also tried disabling the other processes but they caused various probs. i also have ApplicationFrameHost.exe & fontdrvhost.exe running at all times, the first one seems to be for the settings app but not sure what the other one is doing, other than something font related. when i killed runtimebroker it stopped the settings app from working.

(the list is quite long, so much that I split them into catagories to know what i'm removing) am i allowed to post long lists? i know i've already pretty much done that, just checking. before i go crazy.

hey i replaced the mountmgr.sys file with the xp original one and rebooted but was still unable to remove the SVI folders, any idea why?
