  1. yes i thought it would be good to add to chipset... i've come accross the via one quite a lot, as for the other one i just did a search for irda on driverguide to see what it turned up. g.
  2. http://www.idoopc.co.uk/DriverPack_infrared_v1.0.7z for what it's worth, only 2 drivers but the via one is needed for quite a few laptops i've found, any additions greatly appreciated. file doesn't seem to want to download in firefox so use ie. g.
  3. That ms fix appears to have solved the issue. g.
  4. The problem is that a lot of the time the customers don't have an original cd, they may only have a recovery disk and a COA stuck on their pc. So they either need to borrow a xp cd from us or download and burn a sp2 disk neither of which is ideal. I'm hoping i can find a registry fix or i'm going to try this method, http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=897128 but editing the original source files from the cd. g.
  5. I've got this same problem listed in this url that when installing office2k premium on xp home with sp2 integrated it asks for the xp sp2 cd. Does anyone know of registry fix to sort this out. I think it only occurs with xp home. I know it's an old version of office but lots of our customers still seem to use it. http://forum.iamnotageek.com/t-1819074685.html
  6. i use both together fine, obviously xpcreate first
  7. DriverVer = 08/20/2004, 4.4.6 latest nvidia driver doesn't include any new hardware_id's (dp version is 4.4.5) could u post the hwid's from the inf file on the driver cd ?
  8. Could you post your entire masstorage section I'm interested to get any sata devices to work with my sysprep 4 all image. Also did you know that if you install the system first with bashrats base and the keep the drivers option you don't need to specify all the oempnpdrivers line as it will find all the drivers. Also have ever got a sysprep to work with skipping eula and using a corporate code? I've got all the lines in my sysprep.inf file but it always prompts for a code. g.
  9. i can confirm that running sysprep after installing with the KeepTheDrivers setting means that setup will detect any of the drivers in the pack when it's restarted.
  10. something i'm going to try when i get some time is sysprepping an image which has had "keep the drivers" applied... might this work for most of the devices apart from massstorage g.
  11. http://www.idoopc.co.uk/R.rar i got the new realtek hd and ac97 drivers which contain these dev_ids. should be uploaded in 8mins
  12. I've had the same problem on an asus k8n board. I noticed that the realtek ac97 drivers on the driver cd had more pci id's than the ones in the sound dp. %ALCAUD.Desc%=AC97AUD, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_006A&CC_0401 %ALCAUD.Desc%=AC97AUD, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_008A&CC_0401 %ALCAUD.Desc%=AC97AUD, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_00DA&CC_0401 %ALCAUD.Desc%=AC97AUD, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_00EA&CC_0401 %ALCAUD.Desc%=AC97AUD, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_01B1&CC_0401 g.
  13. pm was full http://www.idoopc.co.uk/DriverPack_additions.7z
  14. Yes it's definitely improving but thats because you've put a lot of work in. Drivers will always be being updated so a mechanism for collecting new ones from one source would simplify things. People already post comments about updates, it's only one more step for them to upload. To stop newbies uploading drivers that are already contained you could implement a system where every driverfolder contains a file with name, date and version number of the driver. Also with a script you could produce a full list of supported drivers very easily. I've collected together some drivers not in your packs myself, i'll pm you with a link. g.
  15. 1. From reading these forums there are obviously a lot of people who collect drivers themselves / notice updates. So would it be of benefit if there was a ftp server for uploading new drivers with a directory stucture and containing the files of the most up to date driverpack ? 2. There are often long threads with issues and posts of howtos .etc. If there was a wiki then it would be much easier to manage this info in a structured fashion and in my experience people would contribute to the documentation effort. i recommend dokuwiki as it's very simple and doesn't even need a database. 3. Driverpack base is a coding project with small changes / bugfixes so could benefit from a cvs server to manage the code rather than bts having to post full updates. I don't know much about this subject but could the project be added to sourceforge or freshmeat and could they provide the bandwidth? g.
  16. interesting comments all. just in case anyone's worried about using this driverpack i've been using it for a while now with various nasty software modems and i've never had a bsod. oh and i'm with bashrat on the subject of that site, millions of popups, no thanks. driverguide is okay for drivers that manufacturers/os that don't have support anymore but generally the origin site is a safer and better place to visit. All the drivers in my pack are from actual manufacturer sites. g.
  17. could you clarify what ktd does, specifically this bit of code IF EXIST %DPDIR%\SetupCopyOEMInf.exe ( START /WAIT %DPDIR%\SetupCopyOEMInf.exe ) ELSE ( %CDDRIVE%\OEM\bin\SetDevicePath.exe %SystemRoot%\Inf ) does this mean that the devicepath in the registry permanently points to driverpack directory? and if so whats the point of running the copyOEMinf.exe which copies files to the windows inf folder. tx, g.
  18. this driver looks interesting http://downloads.viaarena.com/drivers/IDE/...IDEAcel120b.htm i tried it with my driver packs though and got a bsod right at the end of the install when windows was starting up. motherboard is an asrock k7s41gx so as far as i know it doesn't even include via chips, sis only. any ideas or results? g.

  20. by Peripheral i mean things like scanners cameras and printers without control panels, i'm already collecting a few. I know it's a vast amount of drivers not appropriate for people wanting to make an xp cd but as i work in a pc store where i have to find drivers manually a lot of the time, everytime i find one i can easily just add it to the pack. I've created a tv card pack which i'll post now. g.
  21. only thing i can think of is that if you use my driverpack the drivers will be a newer version and therefore be picked over the xp built in ones..
  22. For what it's worth i've done a small modem driverpack. I know xp contains plenty of modem drivers itself but they're all fairly old versions and I've had issues getting some nasty amr modems to work. I've included the generic drivers here. I've tested some of the drivers but not all. Enjoy. 23. I've noticed a few people have posted that they have their own printer and monitor driverpacks that they use with this new method. Could someone post their driverpack so i can at least have a start to build my own, or bashrat may decide to create new ones. ta, g.
  24. would be nice if you could add this code to presetup.cmd after the original tagfile set so unattended driverpack installs work, it has no effect on other installs. REM +=======================================================+ REM | If you can't find a CDROM check for a unattended install locally | REM |-------------------------------------------------------| set tagfile=\txtsetup.sif for %%i in (c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z) do if exist "%%i:%tagfile%" set CDDRIVE=%%i:
  25. I seem to have fixed this issue... I'm now using a naughty xp 11in1 dvd as the source for my cd's... and they all seem to work with xpcreate fine.
