Unattended Install (Apps from Network Share)
hfrfc replied to turbo76542's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Why not There are a lot of ways like unattended/ris or silent install. I use full silent install atm but it is a pain to maitain. I have no active directory (too expensive) and deploying appz is a bit more difficult for me. I will try to check what is the best solution ( duh i have to deploy WUS too ). -

Unattended Install (Apps from Network Share)

My DC is a samba/openldap solution. I will try the netlogon solution to install appz. It seems more flexible than a script inside the cdrom. -

-
yeah it's a good idea imho U should freeze a version (no drivers update, no new drivers) and focus on correcting bugs with our help
-
I just tried base 5048 + graphic A/B + lan and nothing worked. Drivers are not loaded.
-
From BTS himself "Just select method 2 in the batch files. To create your own DriverPack: -make a DP folder and put your drivers inhere (in ANY subfolder below it) -7zip the DP folder -rename the file to 'DriverPack_*_V*.7z', where you can replace the asterisk by anything you like -put the file in the DriverPacks folder of the DriverPacks BASE. -done! The DPs BASE will automatically slipstream your own DriverPack! "

Can u post a small tutorial to explain how to integrate our own drivers It would be really nice I can share drivers for dell gx270/280 if someone needs. edit: ive found some posts from bts talkin about that. i'll try

Another bsod : --------------- Drivers base 5.3.2 + video A +B + sound A +B + LAN. Method 2 ( download date 8/03/2005) Station : dell gx270 (all is ok with virtual pc) -------------- Winnt.sif : [Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated=0 UnattendedInstall=Yes AutomaticUpdates=1 [unattended] UnattendMode=DefaultHide OemSkipEulA=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS Repartition=No Unattendswitch=Yes WaitForReboot=No DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore NonDriverSigningPolicy=Ignore Hibernation=No AutoActivate=No ............. ----------- BSOD Crash occurs at install during windows install. PORTCLS.SYS - address efa2246d base at efa22000, datastam 41107f13 ----------- Well maybe u should stop adding devices and freeze your packs and focus on correcting bugs. We are here to test -
But for linux it's possible. Mandrake already sell external usb hard drive with linux on it. I ve tried to boot from usb hard device with no luck :-/ (i have tried 2 methods : recompile kernel with usb/sci modules and ramdisk, with no luck )

For linux, of course , there are a lots of live cd, but im talking about a "real" full install of linux (like debian or mdk) from an usb drive. It's much more difficult
-
Impossible for windows xp. Possible for linux but u have a lot of tweaks to do.
-
Yup i think it"s a good idea. The pack atm is quite large ! There are a lot of Realtek and ADI + creative systems imho.

How to Make Unattended CD for Newbies
hfrfc replied to Astalavista's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Ati+nvidia packs (20mb) seem smaller than Bts DriverPack_Graphics_A_V502.7z (28mb). Does Bts support more ati/nvidia models -

" if CUSTOM=1 is used, the user will only see the license agreement, which must be accepted, and the progress bar." Well btw, it seems to work fine with : REG ADD %KEY%\000 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\java\J2SE.msi IEXPLORER=1 MOZILLA=1 JAVAUPDATE=0 /qb!-" /f
