Well I really hope laws will keep 2g up here (emergency requiment by authorities). What is funny that last year there was switch misconfiguration causing internet fail on Telia network. Lot said they were unable to call while me and my family had no issues. Then I realised it was since I had 2g Nokia brick and parents even though they had smartphones phone contract were limited to 3g. Lot used voLTE which is like VOIP and that was main reason why they were not unable to make calls. So is that voLTE that good at the end as only option? 2g is voice or data 3g is voice and data same time 4g and higher are data only and not designed to voice Also seems impossible find new non smart TV on market. All includes smart features and keep broacasting stuff like bluetooth always even if not plugged in. I will keep my 32" samsung TV around for long. It is HD but it got no smart features at all and most fancy feature is USB port with built in media player that is ACTUALLY USEFUL. Also it got scart, composite, component and 3 HDMI ports. Even harder was find non smart digital watch. I do not want device that sells my heart pulse, speed, sleep times and others to companies I want clock showing time. AFter hours of searching in town I found one store that sold casio watches and got casio F-91W that does not have any smart features. I wonder if smart technology will turn against itself some point?

For me it something nice like saab 900 from 1980s with power steering and heated interior and other luxuries is more prerable. Opel Olympia was back when Opels were designed and made by Opel themself. Later GM gave same car that was rebadged under many brands like saturn, holden, vauxhall, chervolet subaru etc. That thing seems to have 1.5l engine. How does it perform? I have no experience from that old cars at all.

I agree with that I am aware of those but feels as important to make consumertards realise they are doing it wrong by buying cheap stuff made on those polluter countries that is on bin all the time. Why it is Finland fault and our job to drop whole planet emissions to make our life actually hell. We have recycling and even got standardised bottle recycling, traditional Finnish culture outside hippy consumertards is to use stuff until it fails and then try repair it, average car engine size here is 2.5l max unless van pickup or muscle car, we make houses energy efficent, we use wood and peat for heating that are renewable unlike they say. There has been even research to use waste from farms or other waste to produce energy but no since it is better to be hysteric and riot and like bunch of kids. Does asian or eastern countries or other actual polluters have recycling system? No. Do they have renewable energy? No lot of non renewable sources like coal and nuclear power (didn't fukushima or chernobyl taught anything?). How much do they consoom brand new stuff. As far as I know on china iPhone is popular because Apple got CCP approval by giving them access to data centres on china. And iPhones are pretty much worst waste and pollution producer since anti repair practises. So yeah I understand why it is my fault now by trying extend equipment lifespan, recycling, not buying useless things and those so called polluters are innocent. here we have days or weeks worth of -40c on my area. Otherwise it is around -30c and then lower. What is funny is southern Finland that thinks they are move civilised than northern Finland has near chaos when there is snow and -10c. Sometimes I am not sure if I live in same country with them... it is issue with too high turbocharging and too big cost cut. Weak engine block, gasket, cams is begging for trouble. They could sure make it reliable but it would cost too much. That seems like industrial standard to make stuff cheaply nowadays. I have driven 1.2l Opel astra that claimed 145hp and also drive 2.2l L61 Opel zafira that had 2.2l engine with 145hp and can say I take 2.2l Opel without turbo anytime. I tried join the highway and reach 100km/h on ramp, but it did not accerlate even on higher revs. Then one point turbo kicked in giving short and too aggressive kick and then turned off. It could be horrible ecu design also. Same on zafira I do not need rev or hit gas pedal hard to reach 100km/h. When I hit accerlator it means I want power and do not care from fuel consumption. Also what is trend on designing cars to be too small? Did they consider there is that one 2meter guy who has barely room to press pedals without turning steering wheel? I need car with lot of room for a reason. Only small high performance engine I would want is legendary Honda B16A, 1.6 that produced near 180hp without turbocharger while being reliable and relatively fuel efficent as long as VTEC was not enganed

I know lot of US cars had manual transmission. I just like to make fun of inability drive with manual gearbox AT ALL. There has been even car theft attempts that fell short since weird three pedals and strange stick. It does not take lot intelligent to take off with manual on flat surface. Before learnt to shift proper I was able take off with high revving on manual. Good to see someone who likes manuals too. Sure there is advantages on automatic like not rolling backwards when take off on hill, less likely to stall, but manual gives more control and lasts way longer. Only seen major manual gearbox failure for downshifting too low gear that will kill any gearbox.

where I live battery can run flat even if drive car on winter if do too short trips. Cold takes battery life and short time alternator is not warm enough to produce enough power. I generally try drive atleast once over 20 minutes while engine is at normal 80c+ temp.

it depends from age of equipment. Caps from that era could dry out sometimes if been used but age did not always mean no drying. PS3 for example had issue with capasitors drying out despite being from 2007. And generally if under 10 years between use times it will be ok. Mostly seen dried caps on original Macintosh (before Macintosh was fancy cult symbol) that had been last turned on in 1992 and was turned on after 30ish years. So as long as you wont leave them stay there for 2040 without ever testing there should be no worries. Also solid state capasitors do not try out. This was more to your old capacitors.

it is good idea test them with capacitor tester or other equipment. Caps from that era had chemicals that prevented drying of electrolyte (unlike today). Even they had that they can still dry out and go pop and smoke when used. That era caps never leaked from me only gave smoke when failed. If they are in good shape you can have good lifespan out of them. Just make sure switch equipment on requarly to prevent drying out. For solder I would say leaded solder if you got professional who can get it (it is recisted only licenced professional in europe because apparently I cannot know how handle anything toxic without expensive cert) or you have it on home. It is much better to solder with and lasts longer. I got some industrial Flux free lead solder

i cannot recommend VS series to anyone. Had few of them exploding under 100w load (430w unit). VS stands for very s***ty likely

I would want one too but it seems no quality brand no longer makes those. I want psu like my antec 350w was but higher wattage and without cap issue. That thing lasted from 2004 to 2010 or so when exploded due capacitor plague. Some prebuilts still got those power supplies but they are usually low quality or limited connectors I guess industrial power supplies would be more like it Better luck trying to find metallic computer case that is not mostly plastic. My 2004 antec sonata case i still going strong and got dual 120mm fan slots. Simple black and stylish and strong metal body with only front being plastic.

is was best seasonic PSU for low budgdet but was replaced with cheaper s12-III. One point companies did bad budget power supplies they they did ones with high quality then they went back down cutting down quality to any class. Only other OEM psu I could recommend is superflower though those only got 5 year warranty for some reason

some 6th gen cpus matches performance of 8th gen intel cpu and that requiment is artificial by for needing that TPM chip for no good reason. It has been computer maintenance weekend for me. I was planning on installing 40mm Noctua into TNT2, but noticed screws in current fan were too short so need go hardware store look bit longer ones. So anyway here is how it look now from inside. And yes SSD is not mounted best way but I had no hdd caddy to case and it is better let it move around freely. I chewed front fan casing a bit because whole design was stupid for airflow. It had few tiny holes resulting low or none airflow on intake. Rest of fans are noctuas. I kinda like older Power supplies more for having non sleeved cables that takes less space, but I cannot cut those Then was able to find decent way read YLE news and weather reports and emergency alerts under retrozilla. This most applies to Finnish users but Yle got text version from teletext online that renders without issues with JS disabled. I mostly use that to check weather, weather alerts, stocks and sport results and seems good. Shame site needs HTTPS that may break access to it on future under Windows 98. You want to get most important data out first with minimal retries. If there is bad blocks Windows will halt copy process. Hook drive as secondary and use unstoppable filecopy (freeware). After you got all important data backed up, you can try cloning of disk.

I did not mean bios memory protection, rather kernel level one. Windows NT and OS/2 prevent program memory areas from intefering with each other. That has performance hit but very minor and unless you got 386 or 486SX-33 you wont notice it. Bios one is useless as it causes more trouble than does good. Only worse thing I can think is bios antivirus that messed up installations by protecting me from installing new boot sector because virus like activities done by installer which formats drive and installs boot block. I have bunch of Windows and other operating system install manuals and all states to disable bios antivirus to avoid it. Never got the point of it anyway. BIOS need supply hardware config to machine nothing else

I me neither. I either got or trash picked my old hardware for free. what is funny Windows 98SE boots in few seconds before installing drivers then takes 20-30 seconds. One thing that slows it down is system file check on every boot. Not sure how disable it manually, since 98lite disabled it during setup. Can get 10 seconds off from boot time. On XP .net framework NGEN service if exist will cause network to hang 10+ secs in my experience. Cannot say from firewalls since I use network level firewalls only after having too many issues with software ones. NT by design is slower because of memory protection. Windows 9x is faster for lacking it but prices comes in case of bogus program that takes whole thing down. Also XP did have useless services and things, but after tweaking it is very solid NT based operating systems offering sweet spot on performance, stability and compability with newer and older hardware.
