  1. I use windows XP pro sp3 x86, though I came across a post by someone who states that he has enabled MyPal68 to work on Windows 2000, though I don't use windows 2000 and am unable to verify whether MyPal68 will work on 2000 or not I will share the link for the benefit of those who want to try modifying the mozglue file as indicated in the link and test it on 2000 ,so here is the link: modified mozglue file and claims MyPal68 will work on Windows 2000 https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&p=1059912 I hope the information in the link will be interesting and helpful to someone.
  2. I wanted to share this information as I did a search and I didn't see these XP compliant hard drives mentioned anywhere in the XP forum. The extra-large capacity hard drives which are XP compliant use MBR emulation and work on XP and all Windows operating systems from XP on up through Windows 10, possibly Windows 11,although I have no confirmation of Windows 11. I have had the 16 TB external for 6 months and it works fine. I divided it into 3 partitions as per my personal preference, though I did try it before dividing it into partitions and it worked fine. ---------------- Large and Extra-Large external hard drives for XP - 3TB up to 16 TB With newer hard drives supporting larger than 2TB requiring GPT partition, Windows XP users were left behind since XP does not support GPT. However, XP Compliant models adds support for the MBR partition thus allowing XP users to break the 2TB barrier while maintaining compatibility with all other OS. https://buslink.com/products/xp-compliant-usb-3-0-external-desktop-hard-drive-for-all-os/ https://buslinkbuy.com/product/usb-3-0-xp-compliant-external-desktop-hard-drive-for-all-os/ ------------- Should there be a better subforum for me to post this information in, please advise accordingly. I hope this information is interesting and helpful to someone.
  3. I have experienced the same difficulty with using the keyboard to type characters into the character in put area of various sites and specifically Facebook. I find that if I first compose whatever I want to post in WordPad and then copy and paste into the character input area, the site will usually accept the characters or text. I find that I may need to start out slowly with getting the input area to first accept something such as 1 word or even just 1 character and then I can add additional characacters sometimes directly from the keyboard or copied and pasted from WordPad. Facebook does have a messenger to the mobile version and if I place the letter "M" (small case of course) in front of the messages page display url after removing the "www" , then the mobile version of my messages appears. I should mention that I do not use the messenger *app*, I just use the messenger that is part of the internal messaging of the site and so, if you are using the *app*, what I mentioned as working for me with the non-app version may or may not work the same or as well for you. I administrate several groups on Horticulture / Botany and Music and I find that I often have to use several different browsers in order to access and utilize the various administrative functions which I think are script (?) based. Perhaps you or some others may find something I mentioned to be useful. My Thanks and Gratitude for everyone for contributing to browsers that work on XP and with increased functionality.
  4. I located what seems to be an odd firefox based browser, which ostensibly prevents the user from copying anything from sites, although I have not found it to be the case. I'm not stating categorically that this browser will work on all sites (as it doesn't) , although it does work on 'some' sites that the newer mozilla-type modded browsers don't work as well on....maybe API related... Perhaps there is something in it worth considering for those who are doing the mods and for the users such as myself, it's another browser in the 'arsenal' that still basically works on XP. I'm posting the relevant links and additionally I found that if I copy my extensions to the browser profile, many of the extensions I use will work. The link below seems to try and determine what OS system you are using to view the page and download a browser version for what it determines is the OS you are using. https://artistscope.com/artisbrowser/artisbrowser-download.asp The following link will download the last version that will work on XP. https://images.artistscope.com/download/ASPS_Browser_install_XP.zip Best regards to all.
  5. 1) Anybody try this addon yet ? https://github.com/Nebula-Mechanica/serpent-tester-tool Forked from JustOff/moon-tester-tool I have it downloaded, though it won't install for me in Palemoon (27 or 28) or Serpent (52 or 55) 2) I can't seem to get any of the addons from the official Palemoon or Basilisk sites to install or even download (in any version of Palemoon or Serpent) ...is it because the addons are intended for a 64 bit browser (?)....or blocking roys browsers ?... . I can't get them to download no matter how I try, hoping to perhaps modify them into working if I could download them...there are about 10 or so I wanted to try including the neomelodica....is there some trick(s) to getting these to download at all ? https://addons.palemoon.org/releases/neomelodica/ https://addons.basilisk-browser.org/ https://gitlab.com/vannilla/neomelodica 3) Question - When modifying the .rdf file for a different browser, is it the AppVersion listed in about:config that should always be the correct reference for the min and max ?...do the platform or ini file contents in the browser installation folder ever factor in ? Thanks in advance to all of the members for their insight, feedback and bountiful generosity.
  6. @Cixcert and et al - I have been using the Opera 12.18_45 Russian built browser and so far I think it works very well and has more feature rich tweaking of everything than I have ever see in any other build of any browser and I have yet to explore all of the available tweaking which is not well translated into English as of yet. There *is* an English language file included which during the first time I opening the browser, I couldn't find the setting for, since everything appeared in Russian Cyrillic. I went into the installation folder (locale) language sub-folders and disabled the Russian and Ukrainian language files by renaming them something that wouldn't load, then placed copies of the English language file into the Russian and Ukrainian locale sub-folders as well as leaving the English file in the original pre-existing English locale location (so no other language could possibly load) and voila (!), English, not perfect but very workable. I also subsequently located a setting for English in the preferences settings and set it to English.- see photo for reference. I think the 1st page of this thread stating (Russian only) would tend to give the impression that there isn't an English language option, so my suggestion is to edit the Opera 12.18_45 entry to include the fact that there is an English language option. Opera 12.18_45 - only working link for the single Opera browser as of the date of this post https://disk.yandex.ru/d/HbQfEL8dnx_c7A the other link is no longer working I would also like to suggest that the following may be better/ more specific / updated links for the respective browsers: Mypal http://www.mypal-browser.org/release 360 Chrome - telemetry removed: humming owl versions scroll down to see Folder link with all builds https://msfn.org/board/topic/182876-360-extreme-explorer-modified-version/ https://www.mediafire.com/folder/fuwfohw2b75ot/02-10-21 arcticfoxie versions https://msfn.org/board/topic/182993-360-extreme-explorer-arcticfoxie-versions/#comments Thanks for your time and efforts.
  7. I thought I would add links to 2 additional browsers , which are not up to date, although they do work on XP and for the sake of completeness, maybe somebody would be interested in seeing if they could update / improve on them as per whatever needs to be done and considering the Tobin situation, all potential alternatives may be in order to mention. Here is the link to a 32 bit version of IceCat that was posted several years ago in this forum: IceCat xp build of 52.3.0 https://mega.nz/#F!8spCWTSa!98kVn_QKDAvLMi69I-xkFA Here is the link to a build of IceWeasel that requires the not so functional Iceweasel-53.0.en-US.xpi addon to render some of the Chinese into English: https://sourceforge.net/projects/libportable/files/Iceweasel/Stable/53.x/
  8. Roytam - Could you please upload the IceApe for Aug 8th, because the file you most recently linked to ---------------- New build of IceApe-UXP for XP! Test binary: https://o.rths.ml/gpc/files1.rt/iceape.win32-20200801-id-eed056673-ia-41157bf-uxp-091749192-xpmod.7z -------------------- is exactly the same in name and contents as the build from Aug, 1. Thank you for your great work.
  9. @Roytam I have noticed that the ability of the browser certificate manager to import *server certificates* in Palemoon 27 is missing from Palemoon 28 . Can the ability to import *server Certificates* be re-enabled in Palemoon 28 ? For general reference other browsers which are still enabled include : Arctic Fox Firefox Browsers that currently also lack the ability to import *server certificates* include : Basilisk/Serpent Borealis Iceape I'm tending to think that choice and flexibility to import server certificates is better than not being able to., even if not 'critical' at this point, it may be required at some point.. What do you (and any others) think? Thank You for your time.
  10. Thank you kindly for the alternative and updated file link.
  11. Roytam1 - 1) The latest Iceape file has a new date (iceape.win32-20200523 ) on the installer , although in the the Help / about of the browser it still displays a date of May,16. 2) The New build of BOC/UXP for XP uploaded (bnavigator.win32-20200516-8150adea-uxp-9cf4eca9a-xpmod.7z ) is the same file from May,16. Please check. Thanks (!)
  12. @Roytam1 I want to thank Roytam 1 for helping to 'save the world' with his XP updated browser builds. I've been using all of them as I find that some sites and features may work better with different browsers based on my particular interests on a per site / function basis., although I tend to use Firefox and Borealis the most. I prefer function over speed, others may prefer speed over function, although ideally nice to have both (!) I religiously add these threads to the Internet Archives. Roytam 1 - I noticed that you acquired the source code for IceWeasel https://sourceforge.net/p/libportable/tickets/7/ to build the Netscape Navigator-like IceApe. I was wondering (if you are inclined at your convenience) to make the updated IceWeasel which is more Firefox based. https://sourceforge.net/projects/libportable/files/Iceweasel/Stable/53.x/i686/ Iceweasel does definitely work on XP with the English language pack, Iceweasel-53.0.en-US.xpi despite whatever Horlon states in the last post in the thread here : http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?12,141645 although the EN language pack has some limitations in some areas. Iceweasel - other potentially related links https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id=en:project:iceweasel-uxp https://www.hyperbola.info/packages/extra/i686/iceweasel-uxp/ https://git.hyperbola.info:50100/packages/extra.git/tree/iceweasel-uxp https://git.hyperbola.info:50100/software/iceweasel-uxp.git/ https://git.hyperbola.info:50100/software/iceweasel-uxp.git/tree/installer/windows https://git.hyperbola.info:50100/software/iceweasel-uxp.git/tree/installer/windows/nsis https://git.hyperbola.info:50100/software/iceweasel-uxp.git/tree/installer/windows/Makefile.in I'm glad that adonais / libportable (and then Roytam ?) could made working browsers for windows XP from these files. I was wondering (if you are inclined at your convenience) to make the updated IceWeasel which is more Firefox based. https://sourceforge.net/projects/libportable/files/Iceweasel/Stable/53.x/i686/ Thank You Roytam and all of the members for their contributions.
