I don't think @Dixel is referring to me on that one. There were several conspiracy theory discussions in the 360Chrome thread(s) but I have moved on and accepted that @Dixel and I simply had a case of misunderstanding and I have moved beyond it. I haven't seen the need to dig up any sort of "history" as far as on my end. I think I have a relatively good history here of being "helpful" and staying "out of the fray". Long Live MSFN... Long Live Win XP...

Thanks for the links. I have not seen the traffic cited but nor have I dedicated hours/days/weeks to try to catch a needle in a haystack. Regardless, the fewer number of services running on my computer the better - so again, many thanks.

I technically only download from https://lrepacks.net/repaki-programm-dlya-interneta/182-360-extreme-explorer-amp-portable.html But they only keep the link to the most recent. So unless I upload my own copies downloaded from above link, then I don't know of any better place to find the "betas". @Dixel - when you refer to your preference for one of the early betas, which build number by chance?

Microsoft announces a Windows event on June 24. What do I think?
NotHereToPlayGames replied to sunryze's topic in Windows 10
From what I've seen regarding next release is just GUI and Store changes. No "real" changes under the hood, just the way it "looks" and the Store (which I axe anyway). -
I was unable to get all three monitors to work when I tried Win 8 on my secondary computer.

Vista taking much longer to boot after upgrading the CPU
NotHereToPlayGames replied to kcznsk's topic in Windows Vista
Definitely high. My i7-4770 runs 40c +/- 2 at idle. -
I see no "lack of care" but if there were, that would be a GIGANTIC PLUS in my book.

True dat. The rest of the story was more about how dad has been bitten time and time again on rental properties and how "my generation" has done much better staying AWAY from real estate "as an investment". A place to LIVE, of course, but not as an "investment".
-
True, but I also think inflation is irrelevant. What I mean by that is that most people only think of money "linearly". So an "investment" is only an "investment" if the sale-price exceeds the cost basis. The cost basis is the price paid plus deposits added along the way (ie, the home improvement costs). $40k in 1983 is $86k in 2009, so according to inflation he did "profit" even though his sale-price did not exceed his cost basis. But I do think that most people think sale-price relative to price-paid. That was, in reality, the only thing dad was thinking when he compared $110k sale-price to $40k price-paid (excluding deposits added along the way)

Dad wasn't amused, but the rest of us were Dad was standing around the grill during a cookout and somehow the topic of the house we all grew up in came up. Dad kinda started to boast, said something to the effect of "Best investment I ever made, bought it for $40k, sold it for $110k." Without thinking, I said "You lost money." He was like, "You didn't hear me, I bought it for $40k and sold it for $110k." "I heard you, you lost money." The cookout turned into an add-up-the-numbers reminiscing of the house we grew up in. Dad had it built next door to the house we were in at the time then sold that first house. So his 30yr mortgage from 1983 was only $40k after selling the first house and paying off a couple cars. He retired in 2007 but the house did not sell until 2009 (a land-contract sale fell through and he had to relist it for sale). Sold it in 2009 and he was under that 30yr mortgage that entire time, two second mortgage home equity lines of credit for home improvements throughout that duration. He was still convinced he made a profit of $110k minus $40k of $70k. I kept telling him he lost money but he still would not believe. So we grabbed pen and paper... 25yrs into a 30yr mortgage at 8% = $62.5k in mortgage interest vinyl siding home improvement = $8k new roof = $6k added central air and new furnace = $7k added pool and deck = $4k He would have had to sell for $127.5k just to "break even". Us kids found it funnier than Dad did

My company laptop came with LTSB 2015 and was then upgraded to LTSB 2016. I would recommend 2016 over 2015. I know that the company IT department opted to remain on 2016 when 2019 was tested, but I do not really know why they opted out of 2019. If you take the time to learn NTLite and WinReducer Ex 100, my experience is that you can get the regular version to be almost identical to the LTSB version. There may be some networking differences that only an IT Professional would even notice, but it seems to be the best route for Win 10 on a home computer.

For one, I have no idea why you seem to be wanting to start a fight with me. This seems EXTREMELY out-of-the-blue on this end. WHO CARES if I accent with CAPS on occasion - "get over it", it's got NOTHING to do with YOU, it's just the way that I communicate, it might be your EGO that made it "about you". For two, I was SIMPLY pointing out that I saw no TRAFFIC with WebClient running. BUT that I was THANKING you for providing me with one LESS service running on my machine. So, in closing, THANKS AGAIN for that one LESS service ps - I reported your "inciteful" posts to the Moderator. If it was not intended as "inciteful" then I will apologize in advance. If it was intended as "inciteful", then I stand by my submission to the Moderator.

For those interested in trying the beta releases, I've found a Dropbox that contains thirteen beta releases (these are the X-Pen repack versions). Page that contains the Dropbox = http://effect8.ru/soft/browsers/360-extreme-explorer-portable.html The actual Dropbox itself = https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1br0hs9ft84gf0v/AADEnsCRUFogCCHFSX8SBkHZa

Your claim for wasted traffic seems FALSE. But it DECREASES my service-count by one so I guess that's enough for me to disable it.

Oh, and MOST IMPORTANTLY - once installed, NEVER UPDATE !!! And no, I'm not joking

On a "live" system, I would recommend removing ALL "metro apps" - even if you "like" them (find a 3rd party equivalent instead!) Here's an example but google/bing/duck for a learning-read - https://www.maketecheasier.com/uninstall-pre-installed-apps-windows-10/ But I would go one step further and axe them before they are even installed in the first place. You will need to learn how to use NTLite and WinReducer EX 100. Again, google/bing/duck to learn more.
