I just reinstalled 2.1a over what I had and the Pyro 2004 has the same problem as before.

To be perfectly honest I don't recall doing anything or even downloading anything last week. The Pyro software suddenly quit working properly. The two errors I mentioned in my previous post in this thread appeared during different attempts to reinstall Cakewalk Pyro. They came on, I clicked OK and the install resumed normally. As I wrote I have no clue what those two errors mean. I did a Google search and came up with nothing. I have unstalled the unofficial service pack last year. (W98SE 2.1a)

Prior to the problem, I cannot recall anything new. Subsequent to this, I did install Nero 6 again. Something happened last week to the computer and I got some unrelated error messages and I did a Scandisc and a defrag, but that's about all. I am not sure of the glitch, and I suppose it is still there. One error message was a Glj5152 and a GljF4 before that, during the attempt to reinstall Pyro. The software went ahead and installed. I have no clue as to what these errors mean.

I looked for the Pyro temp folder and it shows 0. Pyro will not play any file as I described earlier.

When I open Pyro to make a CD, I can click on a file, mp3 or WAV, to play, I get the message : "Pyro could not play this file, please make sure this file is not in use." If I bring a file into the record box and attempt to record, I get this message : "Pyro could not create a CD image file. Please make sure your Pyro temporary folder contains enough space." I gave this to Cakewalk and they gave me instructions on uninstalling and reinstalling and I cannot get it to work. I have to emphasize that I am not all that good with computers so if there is something simple I am missing, I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

I have to believe the problem is not with Cakewalk, it's with Windows 98 and somehow it got corrupted and I would like to know if there is a 'fix' for this, or maybe a way to find the glitch without a radical thing like uninstalling and reinstalling W98. I am not all that good with computers and I am afraid I would totally screw this up without help. If I hired a tech, the price might be more than what this PC is worth. (HP Pavilion 6630)

I have had this software for a while and it worked perfectly until last week when it would no longer play a file that I know is there. I have contacted Cakewalk and they put me through a series of steps that have not worked, like uninstall, clean uninstall and reinstall. I have downloaded all the updates available and their last suggestion is that I reinstall Windows 98SE. Any suggestions? I also have Nero 6 and it works fine.

I may have fixed it! I had to use an emergency boot CD to get on and then I found another Nero component, InCd that I hadn't uninstalled. I took it out and rebooted and the stupid thing worked. (I hope)

I have an HP Pavilion 6630 with W98SE. I attempted to load a Nero program and I ended up with a problem which may or may not be Nero related. I finally got into the safe mode and deleted Nero, but when I attempted to reboot I still got this error screen : "An exception 0E has occurred at 0028:00770076 in VxD___this was called from 0028:c1831B90 in VxD voltrack(04)+00000430." Does this make any sense to anybody? I am entering this on a differnt PC. Thanks, John Added : I am only able to reboot in safe mode. - (I am not an advanced computer person.)

I get this error often LazyMail Exception Generic.key_error[RegEnumKeyEx()failed:handle_1029623376(10101)] Does anyone know what this means? Bump

Ringfinger, that's what I suspected. I must confess I am not that sharp with computers - my bad. I was wondering if there is a download somewhere on the internet. I tried to find it on various Microsoft sites, but I was unable to.

Our newer Dell pc with XP has a pinball game that I would like to put on the older pc with 98SE. I can copy the game on a CD, but then the older pc says it cannot open the game because of missing drivers, or something. Is there a way to play the pinball game on this pc? THanks.

Are there any anti spam software programs that are recommended?

I turned off the Spy Sweeper and AVG and installed the SP2.1a and there was no apparent problem. There was a portion of the install where I was asked what to install in a series of boxes to check off. There were two already checked, so I just picked them and ran the install.

Would it better if I installed the 2.1a over what I have with the PC in the safe mode? Thanks.

I attempted to install the free Zone Alarm and it gave me a lot of trouble. First, it wouldn't install and so I deleted the download icon. Then, I was unable to get Internet Explorer - got a white page. So, I did a system restore to get everything back. This is on the pc with XP.

I have the 2.0 BETA 3 service pack. I assume it would be a simple task to upgrade to this new version? I am not really a computer person, so I hope you don't mind me asking. Thanks, John

I went ahead and installed the free Avg after uninstalled the McAfee. The computer seemed to work faster already. I plan to get the AVG Professional. I would never go through the Norton experience again, however. Thanks for all the support here.

I had the free AVG on my 98SE pc when the free McAfee became available from Comcast, so I downloaded the McAfee. Which, in your opinion, is the preferred software, the McAfee or the AVG upgrade? (the one you have to pay for) I am thinking of switching back to the AVG.

We have two PCs, a Dell with XP and the older HP Pavillion with W98SE and they both get cable via a router I bought. I used to have ZoneAlert but it caused some headaches so I got rid of it. I downloaded the free McAfee from Comcast and I am wondering if IT's firewall is any good.

The scan is complete now. I was outside when it finished. What a relief. Thanks for your help.

I tried it again and perhaps I 'got it' this time. I always had the idea computers were a whole lot smarter than I am. I am not so sure some of the time.

That did not work. I went as you suggested, selected 'none' for screen saver and it still came on and stopped the scan. I am very purplexed.

Thank you! I am trying it again - a different computer than this one.

I was able to get the computer in safe mode and start the scan, but the screen saver still comes on and stops the scan so it has to start all over again. Is there a way to disable the screen saver? Thanks.
