  1. https://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/#langpacks For 'RT' Borealis XP Browser, have been able to successfully install two language packs from the above URL. Specifically, the "English (British)" and "Spanish (Spain)" ones. I used tips from (users here) 'RT' and 'VISTALOVER' in order to modify the INSTALL.RDF file to get this accomplished. They show (list) as installed in BOREALIS Browser here: ADD ONS MANAGER (Menu: Tools, Add Ons Manager) for LANGUAGES (Tab). But I am NOT able to 'activate' either of them. (Added a few days later) ==> https://msfn.org/board/topic/177125-my-build-of-new-moon-temp-name-aka-pale-moon-for-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1158936 Okay, I got QUALITY feedback from RT (URL above, THANKS!). Who supplied a successful manner to install the SM-2.49 LANGPACKS in an apparently 'minimal' acceptable manner. The MENU Headings looked GOOD overall, when I did the install of the SPANISH Language PACK into the BorXP Browser.
  2. https://www.ghacks.net/2015/07/28/scrolling-in-firefox-to-get-a-lot-better-thanks-to-apz/ I found the above URL related to this 'APZ' issue. The part that seems to matter most in the URL above is this part --> "Please note that APZ is only enabled if you run Firefox (Browser) with E10s enabled. The preference that determines whether APZ is enabled or not is 'layers.async-pan-zoom.enabled' (in the 'about:config' settings)." So, to DISABLE this under WinXP with an old 'single core' CPU would seem a good choice. In the end, one can try DISABLE, then ENABLE, and see if any difference. GOOD suggestion overall, THANKS to post your message here. Two more added 'about:config' tweaks that were suggested this Thread are: (1) canvas.poisondata ; TRUE (change to that) (2) "To disable 'e10s/multiprocess' (CPU) -- Go to 'about:config' by typing it in your URL bar. Search for 'browser.tabs.remote.autostart' using the search box on 'about:config' ... There may be multiple (similar named) results. Set them ALL to FALSE and restart the Browser." browser.tabs.remote.* ; FALSE A certain 'RT' Browser may or may NOT have a 'setting' (listing) for these entries.
  3. @roytam1 <-- I was wondering as to how many downloads (installs) that you get say PER WEEK of your 'RT' XP compatible Browsers (so, BK52XP, NM28XP, BorXP, etc). So, wondering if that you have access to 'RT' SERVER 'Stats' for that and would share. Added: 'RT' did REPLY in a message below and said --> "Never have a look on it since this is just "private" build to myself, download count is irrelevant to me." Okay, was just curious as to some kind of popularity measure on it, THANKS to reply. Having GOOD performance here with the 'RT' BorXP Browser, THANKS !!!
  4. https://addons.palemoon.org/search-plugins/ Above URL is for SEARCH PLUGINS (works for 'RT' NM28XP and BorXP Browsers) So, is there a way to SAVE these SEARCH PLUGIN 'click installs' as like a (EXTENSION) *.XPI file? So, it would be like a say *.HTML file for GOOGLE SEARCH that I could 'click install' it from my computer? I am NOT at all that 'techie' -- so maybe this is an easy answer that I just do not see it. Hope it is clear what I am asking it. Any help is appreciated. Added: @Flame. <-- THANKS for your REPLY below. I now have two more options than I had them before. And a better idea of how that this SEARCH situation works with the 'RT' Browsers.
  5. Here, on my very old WinXP Laptop, I have had BETTER luck with using RT BorealisXP Browser. But I have also had a usable positive result with the RT NM28XP Browser too. And also with the Basilisk55 (not 52) Browser. The additional comment that I would make about the RT BorXP Browser, is that I am not clear on a source for EXTENSIONS for it. However, with RT BorXP Browser, I was able (see earlier messages here, this thread, from me, thanks to 'VistaLover' user help) to get ENTENSIONS for uBLOCK and uMATRIX installed and working (GORHILL = Author, from his GITHUB site, slightly edited for install) with RT BorXP Browser. So, that seems to give me a decent level of browsing protection (via uMATRIX) overall. So, I do APPRECIATE that RT has decided to have this BorXP Browser available as RT is doing it. @Sampei.Nihira <-- Saw your message below mine. Again, NO IDEA here on a website that has EXTENSIONS that would install into the RT BorXP Browser. Again, I did get, via slight customizing, the (GORHILL from his GITHUB site), uBLOCK Origin and uMATRIX (both Extensions) to install into RT BorXP Browser. The other aspect of BOREALIS Browser, is that it is that TOBIN person's coding (he authored it). And since some (many?) do not like TOBIN, because of certain actions that he did it to make his coding NOT work well under WinXP, I am not sure that you would see much support in terms of solving any problems related to EXTENSIONS for RT BorXP Browser. And, I respect that some users would feel negatively about TOBIN. I have been using the RT BorXP Browser because my particular old laptop hardware and software seems to 'like it' (the TOBIN coding) pretty well overall. 'Sampei.Nihira' <-- RT (himself) did REPLY to you (message below), so THAT would be GOOD advise!
  6. @caliber <-- Did quote me accurately, so I am pleased on that. BUT, it was from a PRIVATE Message on here. There are those who do not like much the original programmer (MATT something or other?) of the Borealis Browser. So, I was just hoping to find a URL reference to EXTENSIONS that might work with the (RT) BorXP Browser. Hope that this situation does not create any problems. Was NOT looking to have that happen. I was able to create a FireFox Browser BOOKMARK that does send "about:memory" to the URL Address input line of the Browser. You would want to open a NEW TAB (Browser) for it. Here, the (BK55) Basilisk55 (NOT BK52) and (RT) BorealisXP Browsers seem to work best on my OLD LAPTOP hardware and software situation. In particular just now, the BorXP is making me pleased here. The NM28XP Browser does also work fairly well here.
  7. IF you do a 'RIGHT click' (Mouse) inside of the YOUTUBE video browser player 'box' that you have it open, a MENU presents itself. IF you pick the 'STATS FOR NERDS' choice (at the bottom), that will show you EXACTLY what quality VIDEO and AUDIO that you are currently streaming it. You MIGHT be getting say VP9 on the VIDEO, and OPUS on the AUDIO. Which, on some OTHER YOUTUBE streaming choice, you MIGHT get MP4 Video and Audio instead. I have no idea IF that you are 'forcing' some kind of particular Video and Audio quality from YOUTUBE. Anyway, this comment intended as helpful.
  8. I've been using this (RT) BorealisXP Browser, and so far, so GOOD on the experience. It seems very STABLE overall, NO crashes or 'lock ups' that I have seen them here. The 'BorXP' Browser seems now likely to be my 'go to it' one. With the NM28XP Browser as a very well working alternate choice here too. So, I'll be watching for any UPDATES of the (RT) BorXP Browser. THANKS on this! Added later: I see that so far, there is a WEEKLY UPDATE of the (RT) BorXP Browser. Which here, the BorXP Browser seems to be somewhat BETTER (than NM28XP Browser) in general with my 'Old Laptop' WinXP SP3 overall hardware situation. So, to see these regular UPDATES of BorXP Browser is PLEASING. THANKS! More Added: Basilisk55 (BK55, not BK52) Browser just got a December 2018 UPDATE, first in about three months. For me, the BK55 has always 'liked' my (Old Laptop) hardware BETTER than BK52 does.
  9. *** Note: the 'minVersion' and 'maxVersion' values need to be CHANGED as below *** <minVersion>0.1.0a1</minVersion> <maxVersion>*</maxVersion> *** Note: the 'minVersion' and 'maxVersion' values need to be CHANGED as above *** Okay, SUCCESS here. With proper modification of INSTALL.RDF file (of the EXTENSION), I got this UBO Extension to install in the (RT) BorealisXP Browser --> uBlock0.firefox-legacy-1.16.4.5.xpi https://perishablepress.com/hacking-firefox-extensions/ This above URL does describe the process rather well. Be SURE that you use ZIP compression when you 'recreate' your modified *.XPI file EXTENSION (archive). I used the 7ZIP program for this. And it suggested (default likely) to use 7z compression, which that FAILED to install properly (not surprisingly). Made SURE of ZIP compression on my next try for *.XPI creation, and no problem. THANKS RT !!! Added: Additionally -- with the help of @VistaLover -- I was also able to get uMATRIX 1.1.4 Extension (LEGACY) to install in the (RT) BorealisXP Browser. 'VL' was able to suggest the proper TEMPLATE for addition, which varied slightly from that which worked for uBLOCK Origin --> <!-- Borealis Navigator (uMATRIX 1.1.4) --> <targetApplication> <r:Description> <id>{a3210b97-8e8a-4737-9aa0-aa0e607640b9}</id> <minVersion>0.1.0a1</minVersion> <maxVersion>*</maxVersion> </r:Description> </targetApplication> You add this 'CODE' above at the end of the INSTALL.RDF file, 'nested' properly. I saw a Public Message from GORHILL (author of UBO and uMATRIX). He said that IF you wanted the 'Touch to Block' feature of UBO (create custom filter), and also to use uMATRIX, then just DISABLE the EASYLIST and similar 'LISTS' like that for UBO. So, only use the (custom) 'MY FILTERS' for UBO. And then, you can run *both* the UBO and uMATRIX at the same time, with reasonable CPU usage. Just offered as information, as advise from GORHILL himself. Finally, I likely had a bit of 'trouble' with 'hidden invisible junk characters' that were perhaps COPIED from the CODE here. I solved this by doing a PASTE into NOTEPAD.EXE, with it in NO WRAP mode, and did SAVE the (*.XPI) CODE. THEN, I did open the full *.XPI file in WORDPAD.EXE (again NO WRAP was active), and did COPY / PASTE into the *.XPI as needed, and did SAVE that. On my first try, it did FAIL, and NOT quite sure why. But I *suspect* that 'hidden invisible garbage' type characters were present. 'VL' (user here) did advise me to use a real 'Programmers' type TEXT EDITOR (PSPad or NOTEPAD++ for examples). And then I would not see these problems as I did. Seems GOOD advise.
  10. @roytam1 -- @Jody Thornton <-- https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/seamonkey/extensions/ Actually, I can NOT get ANY EXTENSIONS at the above (approved) URL to install in the (RT) BorealisXP Browser. But I am NOT so clever at this matters either. I am NOT even clear as to what VERSION of SEAMONKEY that the (RT) BorealisXP Browser uses it. And when I view the EXTENSIONS at the above 'SeaMonkey Extensions' URL, I see all 'Red X' icons -- (x) -- next to all of the EXTENSIONS. Indicating that they will NOT install (I assume). Which is why that I am posting here. https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases About 50% 'Scroll Down' at the above URL, is "firefox-legacy-1.16.4.5" listed. Which, that Extension DOES successfully install in the (RT) NM28XP Browser. But, it does FAIL for the (RT) BorealisXP Browser. And again, I cannot get ANY of these UBO Extensions (labeled LEGACY or otherwise) to install in (RT) BorealisXP Browser.
  11. https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases Okay, I got your (SeaMonkey) Borealis Browser working. BUT, I was NOT able to get any version of uBLOCK Origin to install on it as an ADD ON. With UBO, I tried (Firefox) versions 1.13.8, 1.13.6, 1.11.0, 1.10.0, 1.8.0, and they all failed to install. So, I gave up. Any help would be appreciated ... NM28XP working well here though, THANKS!
  12. Yes, with NM28XP Browser, I see this same behavior for that same extension (the 'Red T' Google Translator one). It 'fails' and changes to a 'Green T' on any attempt to 'mark and translate' selected text. I suppose that I should be thankful that the FULL PAGE translation aspect of it is still working for me here.
  13. First, I saw what User 'VistaLover' suggested (uBlock Origin = UBO) to you, and I agree strongly with that. But, IF you are insistent on using ADBLOCK PLUS, this could help you (or not). Under NM28 Browser MENU, choose VIEW, then point at TOOLBARS, and Click on CUSTOMIZE. The CUSTOMIZE 'box' should open, with some ICONS that you can choose to (Mouse) DRAG them up onto the Browser MENU area (next to the URL ADDRESS input box, on the right side). So, the ADBLOCK PLUS Icon MIGHT be 'mixed in' there, inside that CUSTOMIZE 'box' somewhere. And if so, just DRAG that ABP Icon up next to OTHER Extension Icons that you likely already have them there visible on NM28 Browser. Reason that I suggest this, is that I had this 'Hidden Icon' situation happen (UBO Icon ended up in CUSTOMIZE 'box') with my install of UBO Extension on the BASILISK55 Browser (also a ROYTAM maintained one). Anyway, regardless, does not hurt to suggest checking in the (NM28 Menu: VIEW ; TOOLBARS) CUSTOMIZE 'box' for a 'missing' EXTENSION Icon from a seemingly otherwise successful EXTENSION install.
  14. I would NOT overwrite (copy over) the old NM28 files in the main folder for it with the UPDATE files. User 'DenCorso' here was saying that he does RENAME the folder of the OLD (currently used) version (so saves it). Then he moves the UPDATE NM28 files into place in the main folder, and tries it. IF all seems well, THEN he DELETES the OLD NM28 version (so, the RENAMED folder). Personally, I just DELETE the folder and then move the new UPDATE NM28 into place. But what 'DenCorso' does (RENAME the OLD version, then DELETE later after satisfied) is likely safer. Did not see where anyone did reply to you, so I did.
  15. DUMPREP.EXE under WinXP OS can mysteriously REACTIVATE itself. So, it will LOAD on BOOTUP (again), is what I mean to say it. In my experience, DUMPREP.EXE being active can be a significant 'SLOW DOWN of CPU' situation under WinXP OS. https://www.symantec.com/connect/articles/how-disable-dumprepexe-dump-reporting-tool-windows-xp This URL (above) does explain well what to do. And just in general, one should use MSCONFIG.EXE (WinXP) and CHECK under STARTUP (tab) and SERVICES (tab) to see IF that some NEW Program (*.EXE) is LOADING that you did NOT know of it, and do NOT want it. Some were saying of NEWMOON Browser that they were seeing a 'slow down' of some kind, when they did UPDATE it to a newer version. Which again, you should use MSCONFIG.EXE (WinXP) to 'screen out' that some NEW Program (*.EXE) might be LOADING and SLOWING down EVERYTHING under a SLOWER CPU and WinXP OS situation. I realize that a LOT of WinXP OS users likely know this already. So, just in case, hope this helps.
  16. https://msfn.org/board/topic/177125-my-build-of-new-moon-temp-name-aka-pale-moon-for-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1153901 Related to your question, an MSFN user commented at the above (URL). To repeat (more of less), ROYTAM does use his EXPERT skills to update NM28XP and BK52XP Browsers with SECURITY UPDATES as seem appropriate to him. And BK55XP is also updated, but less often. Here, I use NM28XP and BK55XP Browsers as needed. The JAVASCRIPT engine in BK55 is BETTER (more accurate) than NM28 (obviously). So, run an ANTI-VIRUS software on FULL POWER FILE SCAN say every two weeks, seems like you should be okay. NOT really clear to me that ROYTAM needs to give more explanation of what (in general) he does it. On the other hand, I can see where someone might see it differently.
  17. https://qdownloader.net/ <-- (MSFN user JODY THORNTON mentioned) This URL site (above) does download Video from MANY major Media websites. For a VIDEO longer than 10 minutes, to me, that might be the best choice.
  18. ROYTAM1 said in a REPLY to me below --> "PM/NM28XP doesn't use LAV filters from system or av*-lav.dll now." (So, my suggest below is IRRELEVANT to the problem, enough said) MSFN user WOODYXP said below in another message, related to this "Distorted Audio" issue, that using "FIREFOX COMPATIBILITY" setting for USER AGENT (so NOT say GECKO or NATIVE) did solve the problem for him. Which, I can add that I had problems related to HTML Rendering with NM28XP when I switched to NATIVE setting. ROYTAM did quickly figure my problem, and suggested the switch back to FIREFOX COMPATIBILITY, which SOLVED the problem immediately. *** Begin My Original Message Posting (below) *** Here with NM28XP Browser, I do NOT see any problems with TWITTER Video. In terms of associated distorted AUDIO playback in the MP4 TWITTER Video. Or with the VIDEO being distorted somehow either. http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm K-Lite Codec Pack -- STANDARD Package used here http://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_standard.htm Says: The last version that is compatible with Windows XP SP3 is version 13.8.5 http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl_old.htm#xp_last_version So, the STANDARD one is the '2nd One Down' (NOT the FULL one) My thought here is that the NM28XP Browser is a WinXP OS level Browser. So, why not try the CODEC PACK that targets WinXP too. K-Lite 13.8.5 STANDARD is working well here, so far. And it just got UPDATED in August of 2018. So, IF I was having problems say with TWITTER Video, I would try using the K-Lite 13.8.5 STANDARD package. Hope this helps.
  19. https://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/download.html *** Begin Quoting *** Remember youtube-dl requires Python version 2.6, 2.7, or 3.2+ to work except for Windows exe. Windows exe requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) and does not require Python that is already embedded into the binary. *** End Quoting *** So, APPARENTLY NOW it is NOT needed for YOUTUBE-DL.EXE (Windows OS) to have PYTHON installed. But instead, you need the VISUAL C++ Package specified above. Which, this is something new to me. I am CERTAIN that in the PAST that PYTHON was required for 'WIN OS' YOUTUBE-DL.EXE to work, but NOT anymore. Just posting this so that APPARENT 'misinformation' is not said in this THREAD here.
  20. http://blog.k-tai-douga.com/ FFMPEG for Windows XP compatible LEGACY version (scroll down). There was some recent discussion here of FFMPEG free software. Added Later -- MSFN user CoRoNe replied with this source of WinXP FFMPEG builds: https://msfn.org/board/topic/177125-my-build-of-new-moon-temp-name-aka-pale-moon-for-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1154072 https://rwijnsma.home.xs4all.nl/files/ffmpeg/?C=M;O=A
  21. https://www.spotify.com/download SpotifyFullXPSP3.exe = filename At the above URL, you can download the SPOTIFY WinXP stand alone APP. And I have that installed and it does work for me here (WinXP SP3). So, I am okay with that. I just wanted to see the SPOTIFY WEB PLAYER in action too. Did NOT realize the complex issues on that. Your DETAILED explanation above is of AMAZING quality, THANKS!
  22. I tried your IPLA.TV instruction (NM28XP), and success on the first try, VERY impressive. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1164682 https://support.spotify.com/us/using_spotify/system_settings/enable-the-spotify-web-player/ I was HOPING that you might know how to use this same type of strategy to get the SPOTIFY WEB PLAYER working in NM28XP. I tried a couple things but failed. There are apparently some DRM settings and some PLUGINS that you might need them. Any help would be APPRECIATED. Added Later: I see where other MSFN users found the QUALITY reply of user VistaLover to be interesting and of value to them. All good as I see it.
  23. http://addons.palemoon.org/search-plugins/ For NM28XP Browser (ROYTAM), this URL (above) can alter the SEARCH engine as you choose via XML. Once in awhile, I have to 'refresh' this change after installing an NM28XP update. I saw your other message related to a HTML rendering problem with WALMART Canada website. Using NM28XP, I created PROBLEMS for myself in HTML rendering by CHANGING the COMPATIBILITY for USER AGENT MODE 'away' from FIREFOX COMPATIBILITY. I was 'crying' about it here (some), and ROYTAM did immediately suggest to make sure of FIREFOX COMPATIBILITY setting for USER AGENT MODE. There is tweaking, and 'not so smart' tweaking. That would apply to ME. I was reminded of the old 'HILL STREET BLUES' (USA TV Show) 'intro' video ... "Hey, Let's Be CAREFUL Out There!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2QApwtE8zQ
  24. I agree that YOUR (ROYTAM) time is BETTER spent NOT getting involved with maintaining some AUTOUPDATER for say NM28XP. Let someone else do that. I would say that running your ANTI VIRUS software detection in an AUTOMATED manner (MALWAREBYTES for WinXP comes to mind, it has automated settings) say at least once a month, is MORE important than updating the NM28XP Browser. Say every two months, update the BROWSER manually. For a LOT of situations, that may be good enough for the BROWSER update activity. I think that it depends a LOT on what WEBSITES that you visit them. If you are mostly visiting known NEWS websites, doing some EMAILS, and maybe doing BANKING type activity, in my view, being certain that a VIRUS is not active is MORE important than updating the BROWSER. I realize that VIRUS prevention and updating the BROWSER go 'hand in hand' together somewhat. (Meant as humor) Plus, MANUALLY deleting the PALEMOON Folder and replacing it with the latest NEW NM28XP archive that I downloaded it makes me feel VERY GEEKY ... It helps to 'validate' me as a POWER USER
  25. I would NOT do an OVERWRITE as you did it. I would DELETE that current PALEMOON Folder. Then COPY the PM28XP PALEMOON FOLDER (archive) contents 'over' to a location off your C: drive ... C:\Palemoon Make sure that is referenced in your ENVIRONMENTAL PATH under VISTA. Then 'launch' it and see what happens. You MAY need to reinstall some EXTENSIONS if you have or want them.
