Seagate Firmware Update

Thanks for picking up that error :-) One last question, does firmware updates tend to destroy current data on the disc? Thanks! -
Seagate Firmware Update
HighDarkTemplar replied to HighDarkTemplar's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Thanks for that, however still not solved. It just detects my discs (which i already know about), and gives the following information: Model: ST31000340AS, Serial: 9QJ02YHA, Firmware: SD15 Model: ST31000340AS, Serial: 9QJ04F3P, Firmware: SD15 The disc's colored in red, in that program you mentionen, which means that it has known firmware updates (which i also know). When i entered the seagate site(through the program), it didn't find any updates at all :-/ WTF?? Thanks again! -
Seagate Firmware Update
HighDarkTemplar replied to HighDarkTemplar's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Did take a look, and read a bit on the forums. But i couldn't find a download link :-( Thanks! -
Hi! I remember seeing an article on another site about some of the Seagate Barracuda HDD's (including ST31000528AS, which is my disc) had some serious problems. There was a firmware update somewhere, but I cannot seem to find it. I also think that there was something else that you had to do to actually get it to boot and install, if someone knows what, please tell me :-) Thanks for your time! -Nerevar

Hi! I'm looking a little into C/C++ programming and I'm going to spend alot of time on it in the summer. Something that i've noticed is that "makefiles" is quite common in Open Source projects. What I'm looking for is a beginners book on makefiles (a book that you have actually read and think is excellent). I'm looking forward to the replies :-) Best Regards -Nerevar

C++ WxWidgets
HighDarkTemplar replied to HighDarkTemplar's topic in Programming (C++, Delphi, VB/VBS, CMD/batch, etc.)
Found the solution at last :-) For others who has the same "problem" check out this page: http://wiki.wxwidgets.org/CodeBlocks_Setup_Guide -Nerevar -
Hi! I've begun looking at some C/C++ programming and I've decided to learn wxwidgets as my main GUI framework. I've installed the Code::Blocks IDE, MinGW compiler (not the MSYS package) and wxwidgets. Problem is that you have to compile wxwidgets and I got no idea about how to do it (I've read a little bit around on the net but can't find anything useful for ming). I've added the ming and the ming\bin directories to the PATH system variables. Can someone give me a short list of what to do? Preferably with the whole command line string that I have to type :-) Or is there one/more than one third-party libraries that need to be installed? Thanks for your time!

Request! Install Application x on Steam
HighDarkTemplar replied to HighDarkTemplar's topic in Application Installs
Anyone? -
I'm currently working on a new nLite'd cd (my comp need a reinstall). Is there any way to tell steam to silently install application %ID? For example 400 (application ID for Portal). It's not enough space on a normal CD to include all my steam games :-). Thanks for your time!

Norway has declared war against IE6. Norwegian web-developers has united and says that it's unneccesary to have to write the same webpage two times, one for IE6 and one for the rest of the browsers. Most norwegian webpages (including the biggest newspapers such as vg.no, db.no, fvn.no, itavisen.no). The rest of the world is joining the "war" as well. Microsoft has joined the campaign as well!! See this wiki for a list and wired.com for the reference article Sources also includes the above-mentioned norwegian newspapers but it's not too relevant due to most people here speaking english :-) -Nerevar

I'd give nlite a go. Integrate drivers on the installation and burn. I haven't downgraded a system before, but I believe you only need the cd-key from Vista, which of course will work on Windows XP :-) Also, NLite shouldn't take you too much time to learn (at least the basics).... -Nerevar

Seems like it, what I did works as a temporary fix though. I haven't found anything like it :-( Thanks! -Nerevar

Nothing :-( Could it have something to do with corrupt enviroment variables? Thanks for sticking with me this long :-) -Nerevar EDIT: Found the solution :-) Here is what I did: Right-click on my computer-->advanced-->enviroment variables and find the "PATH" one. Replace all the %systemroot% etc with the actual path. It's a bit weird but at least it's working for now....
-
And that is exactly what I get..... Thanks for your help so far. It's late here so I'll have to continue in, say a 16 hour time or so (after the exam tomorrow :-/ ) -Nerevar
-
Well, here is what I get: PATH=%systemroot%\system32;%systemroot%;%systemroot%\system32\wbem;C:\Windows\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0;C:\Programfiler\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\binn;C:\CUDA\bin;C:Programfiler\AgPerfMon;C:\Programfiler\NVidia Corporation\Cg\bin;C:\Programfiler\NVidia Corporation\Gelato\bin;C:\Programfiler\NVidia Corporation\DDS Utilities PATHEXT=.com;.exe;.bat;.cmd;.vbs;.vbe;.js;.jse;.wsf;.wsh;.psc1 What's even weirder is that the rest of them disappeared today :-/ Thanks! -Nerevar Edit: For thoose who don't guess it "Programfiler"="Program Files" in english.....
-
Hi! I tried using the ipconfig tool in the command line earlier today, and it just disappeared. It's still in the windows directory and working, but it's somehow been unregistered from the command line (I change to the C:\Windows\System32 directory to use it, which isen't convenient (sp?)).... Thanks! -Nerevar

RIS Installation
HighDarkTemplar replied to anthonyaudi's topic in Server - Side Help (IIS, Apache, etc.)
I'm no expert but the first things that hits my mind is drivers (SATA-drivers, even if you run them in IDE-mode, maybe some specific drivers for that motherboard? etc etc) and the other one is defect hardware. You can try the Ultimate Boot CD to test your hardware.... Good luck! -Nerevar -

Windows Server 2003 or Home Server...?
HighDarkTemplar replied to drscouse's topic in Software Hangout
I don't know anything about Home Server except for that it is supposed to be used for backup, easy file access and media streaming at home. Windows 2003 Server covers much, much more. For Outlook web access I believe you need the Microsoft Exchange Server. I have no idea about how it's set up or anything but I believe that it is to be installed on an existing windows server (preferably 2003 or 2008 I think). That is at least what they used at high school, when I was there. There is probably a Linux/FreeBSD alternative as well but I don't know anything about them :-/ For 2003 server (I have one on my left hand, and my main computer on my right :-) ), it's not to hard to figure out EXCEPT if you install ISA server on it (it's an extreme firewall, highly configurable but it's not something for starters I believe (I'm a starter, but I have a habit of gulping down too much at the same time...)). My main project/problem atm is the ISA server. The firewall rules is way too strict..... Good luck with your server project! -Nerevar -
Try to describe your problem a bit better please. It really gives us little "to work on".... You want to see what's in the ******** piece of "text", it's a bit problematic in DOS but you can do it in normal windows with tools like this showpassword tool or try googleing for another one yourself. Hope it helps! -Nerevar

Is it only one movie it happens with? If yes, it's probably an error with the file. To test it, take a copy of it (from the current hard disk) and try to play it on another computer. Try playing it with the VLC PlayerMight be some driver problems, try reinstalling your ati/nvidia/other graphics card drivers (it often messes up the icons on your desktop, which means that you'll have to rearrange them). Just the first few things that hits my head.... Good luck!! -Nerevar
