  1. You could try using windows firewall for the network connections. e.g im running a basic setup at home, and ive got the firewall enabled to divert all internet traffic through my slow nic into the router, then ive got all file sharing and remote desktop traffic going through the faster gigabit link. So i dont get a slow connection when file sharing basically. Hope this helps.
  2. ok looking for some better schemes to include in my UA. But cant seem to find sites that like have packs to download or any rather (through google) I remember ages ago having like starcraft and duke nukem schemes on 98, but cant find that sort of stuff again. anyone help, or do i have to get full theme packs or m$ plus?
  3. http://unattended.msfn.org/advanced/cosmetics/bootscreen.htm - right here helps
  4. Hi just wondering if any of u out there know if this a problem or isnt possible. In Win2k Server Domain Security Policy i can import policy, but cant export, like i can normally in local security policy. So is it possible or not im asking :S
  5. ok just bout this, im used to installing Winrar 3.2, but have got this 3.4 version now that im gonna integrate. Just wondering when i install it, it appears to go straight into teh directory of where teh setup file is. THis will be an issue wont it???
  6. Hotmail uses trend now dont they... as for firewalls im gonna try out this Linkbyte Contum 4.5. Its shareware though. Ive seen it in action which is why i might give it a go its got detailed logging of everything, but i want to explore it further ill get back to yas to see how it goes....
  7. yeh thats pretty decent, thanks mate might have some fun, adding in some of them winamp or weather stuff later aswell
  8. hmm any more detailed ones out there, that have real time monitoring, like ram usage, cpu usage etc could be handy for use on my server desktops.
  9. just remember norton and norton (symantec) corporate are 2 different products here. I dont recommend norton antivirus - for the home user/desktop at all - this was 2003 at the time, since then i havent. I do though use Systemworks 2005 without the AV, just cause of its system maintenance i enjoy. Too bad it dont run on a server platform . If u want do what i did and run all the mainstream ones, from norton, mcaffee, trend, kaspersky etc, and found that Panda Titanium was the only one that when i scanned my system to actually pick up a virus, so with that i tend to use panda titanium on my desktop. It probably wasnt a good method but since then panda has just whacked any virus that tried to come in or pop out of a file when i extracted..im happy with that atm. I do use Symantec Corp on my 2003 server, but i am looking at alternatives...because my work has stopped advising ppl to use the symantec for servers, and go with Trend products - i havent tried the server version yet. and both of these are behind a hardware nat/spi firewall in my router, plus commonsense while browsing the net helps stop unwanted stuff, plus using any virus scanner is better than using none. (/me remembers the nye when he had to format his entire system because he cbf using a virus scanner) there is my opinion
  10. zomg very smick indeed though the clock up the right and quick launch toolbar looks a bit the deployment strategies sound good aswell
  11. yeh i havent tested it yet on any M$ OS yet their new anti spyware. Might go visit some heavily infected spyware sites later and test it out . But atm i use Adaware and Spybot S&D - also use IE6 which doesnt help, i might change to firefox when i complete my new unattended installation of XP soon. Adaware and Spybot are good for picking up spyware, but whats a good "firewall" for spyware then...besides firefox i guess?
  12. cool thanks, that works ok i guess Comes out a big disorganised on some (maybe because im only saving it in a txt file, might try saving in word or something on a test build later in vmware), still its a little easier than going into each policy or OU and typing the settings up manually.
  13. Hi, im trying to find anything that can help in documenting the entire AD in 2000/2003 server, so i can have a record of all computers, users and their profiles etc. Anyone know or use such things, or will i have to go through every policy setting and write them down Thanks for anyhelp u can provide
