  1. You may also like to try the batch file. Strange, the search for the proverbial needle in a haystack.
  2. @jbclem I created a "medicine" for you, where the uninstall folder is created (%windir%\ie8) and an uninstall of IE8 is possible, just like the original IE6 restores files and settings. If interested, send me a PM. Update Have you sent a message (PM)!
  3. @jbclem Follow the instructions of @Bersaglio , go to the Windows folder and search for the folder IE8, where the folder spuninst is located and in this spuninst.exe. If this folder is not available, the IE8 can not be uninstalled. During IE8 regular installation, the files and settings are copied from the existing IE in the %windir%\IE8 folder. If present, SP3 may have been subsequently installed, in which case uninstalling is also not possible. @jumper Where does the data come from the initial Internet Explorer 6?
  4. It would be no problem to integrate a parameter option with the CertUpdater, if the servers of MS would not offer obsolete sst files from time to time. Following a current example: @All Since there were problems with older processors in the Cert_Updater v1.3, I have replaced WGET with another version. If you also have problems you should download the Cert_Updater again. Download Cert_Updater
  5. @Thomas S. Can unfortunately only confirm this error. @Bersaglio Thanks for the info, then it's time to wait until a suitable update for the .NET Framework 2 SP2 is also available for POSReady.
  6. Could you give me the name of the program and source of supply, I would like to test in my VM.
  7. Apparently it suits my suspicion that there is a problem with SSE, but because of the possibility of encrypted downloads with WGET I can not go to an older version. Do not have the ability to recompile WGET again so that this synonymous with their processor tolerates. Maybe there are other users to recommend where to get a working version of WGET is the encrypted downloads and works on your processor. Otherwise, I ask things that have nothing to do with the actual topic of opening a new topic, because this topic is already confusing enough! @glnz If you have the problem with Event ID 4107 or Event ID 11, create a new text file, copy the code for the batch file (https://msfn.org/board/topic/175170-root-certificates-and-revoked-certificates-for-windows-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1152587), paste it into the text file, save it, rename text file in cleanup.bat, and execute. Thereafter, the problem with Event ID 4107 or Event ID 11 should no longer exist.
  8. The HTTPDL.exe (WGET) may result in an error message that does not exist because of your processor's specific SSE support. The new version of WGET is needed so that encrypted downloads are possible. Sorry, but what has the certutil.exe and certadm.dll to do with the Certificates Updater v1.3? Maybe some users should first read the previous posts and not overread. Apparently, many users have not yet understood that it was originally about fixing the error Event ID 4107 or Event ID 11. There is a support page of MS, which refers to newer versions of Windows (some users it is omitted that the support of Windows XP since April 2014 is officially terminated, therefore, no Fixit Tool, as well as the described solution refers rather to Windows 7). Otherwise read from here! https://msfn.org/board/topic/175170-root-certificates-and-revoked-certificates-for-windows-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1152521
  9. When using certutil.exe, the WinINIT entries are also deleted. Whether that has an impact on the error Event ID 11 I can not verify unfortunately because this error has not occurred with me. The fact is, if the content in the "CryptnetUrlCache" folders is deleted, this content also no longer exists with certutil.exe. Then there is still on the support side of MS even more "CryptnetUrlCache" folder where the contents should be deleted manually. Remember that the specified folder structure refers to more modern Windows variants. You should first have to see if the error after deleting the contents in the "CryptnetUrlCache" folders still exists.
  10. Update for root certificates: New: CN = ISRG Root X1 O = Internet Security Research Group C = US Those using heinoganda's Cert_Updater.exe should run it ASAP. Others needing a redistributable rootsupd.exe should follow his instructions for creating their own, or PM at 5eraph for an updated EXE file.
  11. Has the added functionality of Cert Updater v1.3 been tested yet? Read in the "Info Version 1.3.txt". @Dave-H Have you already tested the problem solution for Event ID 4107 or Event ID 11 with the batch file or Manually? Our lottery player would like to return his ticket. Oops, what is the "resident supermegaüberhyper-ultraparanoid"?
  12. If you try to use a web browser where an ad blocker (μBlock) is installed, then this problem should not be present. Nobody wants to argue here, as I see it more as a controversial exchange of words.
  13. Right, I have already documented in a previous comment that it is even without certutil.exe feasible to solve the actual problem and additionally provided a code for a batch file. Hence my adaptation to Windows XP, with appropriate solutions, before users harm their Windows XP with older tools. The user can choose this, if it is necessary to install the administration tool for Windows Server 2003 SP2 or to extract the two files. https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=6315 We are also grateful for that, but the implementation for the average consumer is already a bit more difficult, especially as already written, that the support side of MS refers to newer Windows variants. This should not be a reproach, but even if it goes against the grain with some questions, the tone should remain factual. I have to agree with you, there would have been a hint in a previous comment was not bad, but unfortunately the cat is out of the bag. Therefore, my attempt that the two files certutil.exe and certadm.dll (extract with 7zip) are sufficient for the purpose. I can only hope that the users understand that the Admin Tools are not needed to solve the problem with Event ID 4107 or Event ID 11!
  14. Why do not you give a correct link right away? This forum is there to help each other. Following a link to the latest Adminpak for Windows Server 2003: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=6315 Incidentally, for the two files certutil.exe and certadm.dll not necessarily the Adminpak must be installed, with 7zip open the msi file and extract the two files.
  15. What did your problem with this topic (Root Certificates and Revoked Certificates for Windows XP) to do? Please create a new suitable topic for this.
  16. As the name implies, adminpak serves in a server - client constellation with a domain controller, on the one hand the possibility of administering a server from one computer. Furthermore, various tools are installed on the client's, which allow the admin to perform various settings or maintenance from another computer on the network. If I'm not mistaken, the tool certutil.exe since Windows Vista is part of Windows. The problem solving in detail by MS for Event ID 4107 or Event ID 11, refers to more modern Windows variants, which can be recognized by some directories (directory for LocalService and NetworkService). If only the tool certutil.exe is needed, this can also be extracted from the adminpak.exe file. This requires the files certutil.exe and certadm.dll.
  17. This should not be an insult, just a phrase with us, because you have overlooked my comment. Since you do not need to ponder over it.
  18. Blind chicken also finds sometimes a grain! The following code for a batch file, which also allows a cleanup: @echo off (FOR /F "tokens=2* delims= " %%a IN ('REG QUERY "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "AppData"') DO SET "UserAppData=%%b") >NUL 2>&1 SET "CryptnetUrlCache1=%UserAppData%\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\Content" SET "CryptnetUrlCache2=%UserAppData%\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\MetaData" DEL /F /Q /A "%CryptnetUrlCache1%\*" >NUL 2>&1 DEL /F /Q /A "%CryptnetUrlCache2%\*" >NUL 2>&1 (FOR /F "tokens=2* delims= " %%a IN ('REG QUERY "HKU\S-1-5-18\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "AppData"') DO SET "SystemAppData=%%b") >NUL 2>&1 SET "CryptnetUrlCache3=%SystemAppData%\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\Content" SET "CryptnetUrlCache4=%SystemAppData%\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\MetaData" DEL /F /Q /A "%CryptnetUrlCache3%\*" >NUL 2>&1 DEL /F /Q /A "%CryptnetUrlCache4%\*" >NUL 2>&1 (FOR /F "tokens=2* delims= " %%a IN ('REG QUERY "HKU\S-1-5-19\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "AppData"') DO SET "LocalAppData=%%b") >NUL 2>&1 SET "CryptnetUrlCache5=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\Content" SET "CryptnetUrlCache6=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\MetaData" DEL /F /Q /A "%CryptnetUrlCache5%\*" >NUL 2>&1 DEL /F /Q /A "%CryptnetUrlCache6%\*" >NUL 2>&1 (FOR /F "tokens=2* delims= " %%a IN ('REG QUERY "HKU\S-1-5-20\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "AppData"') DO SET "NetworkAppData=%%b") >NUL 2>&1 SET "CryptnetUrlCache7=%NetworkAppData%\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\Content" SET "CryptnetUrlCache8=%NetworkAppData%\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\MetaData" DEL /F /Q /A "%CryptnetUrlCache7%\*" >NUL 2>&1 DEL /F /Q /A "%CryptnetUrlCache8%\*" >NUL 2>&1
  19. Event ID 4107 or Event ID 11 is logged in the application log in Windows The whole thing can be done manually without additional tools (This is done in every found "CryptnetUrlCache" folder!): @Thomas S. Sometimes I wonder why reading through some articles is so difficult, especially if it is not read to the end.
  20. I would prefer that MS would finally publish a working update for oleaut32.dll. The cases of malfunction with Windows XP (all variants) accumulate because of KB4074852, KB4134651 and currently KB4134651-v2. The file oleaut32.dll should definitely be improved and not just have functions removed from it without replacement.
  21. There was never any talk of a modified KB4018556 respectively KB4018556-v2. There were problems with KB4074852, KB4134651 and currently KB4134651-v2, where a modified update was created. For the modification, the file oleaut32.dll was taken from KB4018556-v2 with a change of the file version.
  22. @Mathwiz Have you ever tried to set MsMpEng.exe itself as an exception on MSE? Maybe it's a little better. The fact is that with me MSE turns more and more to a brake. Have a comparison with MBAM 3.5.1 made with all sorts of protection modules. Firefox 52.9.0 works well here at a reasonable pace (VM with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, 1 core and 1 GB of memory).
  23. Have in my VM started a test of Windows Live Mail and could not find any problems under Windows XP sp3, with updated status from July 2018, where the modified update KB4134651-v2 is used. A precise information of the error message would be an advantage. Update: Maybe it helps https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/livemail-program/something-unexpected-happened-and-windows-live/874cb580-2d50-482a-8538-4cbe9a5d1b59?page=2 http://hardknocksstuff.blogspot.com/2014/11/solution-to-problem-sorry-something.html
  24. Have you installed KB4134651-v2 this month from MS? There are Proleme in this update with the file oleaut32.dll, which in your case might also have an effect.
  25. Then the installation of the mod. KB4134651-v2 worked. With Avast is only one measure so that it does not interfere with the installation of updates in between. It is not enough just "Disable shields", but also the self-protection should be disabled in this scenario! Uninstall Malwarebytes and reinstall Malwarebytes. For the File Protection module, set Avast the exception for Malwarebytes directories (C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes). For Malwarebytes, the exception for Avast's directories (C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software). Make sure that components of both do not overlap, otherwise the chaos is perfect (the Avast component Behavior Protection and Malwarebytes Exploit Protection for example).
