  1. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...st&p=795493 has info about Reg entry to make Opera the default browser I wonder if anyone knows how to package it with things like customisations - a bit like Jonny Boy's Firefox Addon maker???? I'm getting to think Opera is pretty cool!
  2. RTFM dude.... try an Unattended Install .. there is guide here to do an unattended of JUST the stuff you want. You need ORK.exe
  3. Big time FAIL for me... previous versions worked well (but didnt store status of addons).... this one manages to stop ALL addons from working and I cannot access the options on the addons even though they are allegedly working. Having given up on the idea of having some addons installed but not loaded I am now just looking for an older working version of this. I'm not ungrateful, really. BTW, is there any way to improve the install speed? It takes about 5 mins for FF silent install to install whereas if I did it manually I could do all config and install in around 2.... Is there some strange way it installs? (C2D @ 3.2ghz) EDIT: Rebuilt it again, as far as I can tell exactly the same (well the addons and source install were identical) and it worked fine.... whatever!??!
  4. Is there a way to shrink Frontpage? I just tried with my Office CD2 (Frontpage) and it barfs with error 25003 "MS Office Frontpage setup cannot continue because the installation source has been corrupted" But its quite happy to install as normal - its just OfficeShrink wont work on it (FP2003).... I know I could overwrite my shrunk O2K3 with FP2003 but then I'd bloat it by 300Mb when Frontpage is only 130Mb or less....
  5. I know this is now superceding Mara's Slipstreamer but every time I have used this on an English O2K3 with SP3 and all latest fixes it still finds them all on Windows Update and asks me to re-update...which kinda defeats the object. Is it broken? All I am doing is taking my CD, making an Admin Install, integrate latest fixes and make an unattended MST... and every time same result....
  6. When copying files from your system, it copies all extensions as long as they are one of these places. They are the firefox\extensions folder, the profiles folder and the profiles\extensions folder. The file "extensions.rdf" stores all of the registered and unregistered extensions and there location. If this file is not present when Firefox starts up, it will scan the extensions folder and create a new extensions.rdf file. Currently, Firefox Addon Maker does not copy that file, so it is not present the first time that Firefox is run. Therefore, it creates a new file with every extension being registered. I will add an option to keep that file in future. Or, if you do not want to wait for another update, you can PM me and I will tell you what to do. I can wait (thanks). Its really a great product.. I'm totally a Firefox user now and having a custom installer is just what the doctor ordered. I'd struggle to think of much else you could add to this.. maybe a v1.0 Release should be close?
  7. I'm not sure what you mean. I believe that all extensions are copied into the addon. I would have to look at extensions that are disabled and see if they are being recognized in a new install. I'm pretty sure it only copies installed/active extensions. Ideally I'd like it to copy all and preserve their active/disabled status.
  8. I love this addon but have a small feature request. I'd like to be able to have all addons in the installer it makes, not just those that are enabled. Currently it fails to pick up (I think!) the disabled addons. I'd like to be able to install but not activate some addons.
  9. Trying to slipstream the drivers into my install with nLite. Every time I try this I get error with the path for ATI2MTAG.SYS. It says on install it cannot find the file and would I like to path it to the file (its looking in a non-existent referenced directory) - I merely select C:\Windows\NLDRV\002 or whatever and it continues to install.. but it buggers a silent install unattended disk... I've installed and then used Driver Backups to extract the driver and install that but every time. I've recreated the INF file but it STILL does it. Is there a good way to SILENTLY install the Radeon drivers? I'd rather not RunOnceEX on the ATI installer and have windows DETECT the radeon at first boot. Any ideas?
  10. Just wanted to say THANKS for this. I've used it several times. Firefox is essential program for me and the addons can be a pain to configure and add. This makes it all easy. Brilliant job Jonny!
  11. This just doesnt work for me... It slipstreams the patches but then when I install Office it asks me to add all the patches again via Windows Update. I re-did my MST files for my install but it still does the same thing. Anyone else?
  12. I'd also be interested in ideas as to how to make the OPs idea work. I install 5 machines, want to name each at the start of the install and install different apps depending on the name (ie DESKTOP1, DESKTOP2, DESKTOP3 get same apps but LAPTOP1 and LAPTOP2 get different apps from the DESKTOPs) Is there a way? Or must it be done at the end of the install?
  13. Is the list of updates current (i.e. up to date) as I have collected over recent months all these Office 2003 updates that WU tells me are needed. All POST SP3 KB943983 KB943985-v2 KB945432 KB946254 KB947355 KB947944 KB949044 KB950213 KB950241 KB950380 KB951476 KB953465 KB956077 KB953404 KB954478 Always useful to know what the current list is when rebuilding an image for backup Some of the above are redundant.. didnt notice the MANY Outlook Junkmail Filter patches
  14. This also happened with my SP3 nLite install. I spent some time with Apple's tech people and found this whilst on the phone. I've sent the link to Apple Tech as well so that they can help anyone else with same issues. Nice fix file by the way...
  15. I get this in XP too. Is there a REGISTRY fix file for this? I have to apply this process after every install of XP SP3 and I'd like to automate it
  16. Perhaps I should clarify... I'm running a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L (with ICH9) I would like to enable AHCI in Windows XP The initial post by puntomx described how to do that on a current installation after some minor modifications. On page 3 of this topic, a method for doing this on a fresh install is also listed by Vascoman Both methods are basically the same, with the only real exception being a registry edit What I'm saying is that the instructions listed in both of those posts are no longer valid for the latest chipset drivers, posted on June 2nd, because the line that needs to be replaced is not present. I was just wondering if the original poster or anyone else has had a chance to look into this yet. I have not tried anything yet myself, other than seeing if Intel had incorporated support for AHCI on ICH9 in those drivers. Unless I messed up when I slipstreamed the drivers into my Windows install cd, the answer is no. Can I second the request for post 1 and the page 3 alternative to be updated. I downloaded latest and got confused as hell. BTW, its Ctrl-H not Ctrl-R for Search/Replace... that got me confused before I even found out that there is no 2923 to search for in first place!!!
  17. Helo I am confused... I've been searching for advice on this. I have two VBS scripts that are on my desktop after an unattended install, called AutoArrangeIcons.vbs Quicklaunch.vbs How can I have Windows automatically run them? I have a final Cleanup.cmd file - can I just type Quicklaunch.VBS in that or do I need to use something else? Sorry to ask but I've searched and not found the answer!!!
  18. What about Firefox 3 support, (as well as FF2)... Firefox is awesome but we need silent unattended custom installs!!
  19. Add me to the list... I have an Eee and want it to last... Besides.. why is a Pagefile needed with 2gb of Ram or more?
  20. Cool, I hope you'll post here as well as in your new thread so those of who have susbscribed to this will automatically hear about the release!
  21. OK I might be being dense here but how can I set up my Z drive to ALWAYS be mapped to \\Diskstation\Private ?? If I do that I can have a CD install and call an install routine from my external NAS drive(s) and not have to rebuil disks every time I change the setup basics. Also makes testing changes easier and means the system can be pre-setup closer to its final state!
  22. Did you ever solve this one? If so please let us know how...
  23. No, the taskbar/toolbar remains locked so unless you UNLOCK it you cannot resize the Quicklaunch bar to see ALL your icons. Anyone any good at VBS (I'm not) could fix the script to also unlock the toolbar?
  24. Does this method also Unlock the toolbars as otherwise you wont get to see your Quicklaunch icons. Is there anyway to automatically resize the toolbars or even specify the size to enable Quicklaunch to be fully seen?
